It actually appears that he was never banned..? coulda swore he was.. Maybe he just doesnt post anymore because everytime he did, people would start up with him again. I mostly try to stay out of shit like that here and have nothing to say about the guy.

What happened is disappointing on so many levels but I'm happy to have my account back thanks to the work of James. It's sometimes interesting to see what happens when you mix power with a knee-jerk reaction.

I was literally just now sitting down for lunch and reading a horror mini-book I snagged here that I think Chad had a hand in writing.

Regardless of a suspension or ban or whatever why would someone erase years of posts? If they were acceptable at the time why would that change now all of a sudden? One of the only frustrating parts of this place is when I am looking through neat old threads and come across page after page after page of broken images/links. I get why that happens but doing it to someone on purpose seems like it would just hurt the entire board.

I totally lost my temper. But that can be easy to do when some people act like total dickheads for no reason at all.

I might sell junk from time to time but somebody bought it or traded it away from me.

The major lesson here is that we need new mods. Mods that actively moderate instead of only having their name symbolically in yellow. James is doing a great job. We need a few more like him. Andy? Steve? Bill?

You banned someone for questioning your status as a mod when you seemingly aided in the post of a trade flipper instead of enforcing a rule on him. Unless there's something in PM's we haven't seen, I wouldn't classify anything Bansheebot said as "dickhead."

This is the first I've read of all this story, had no idea. Banshee a Dickhead? Just my two cents but if Jason was banned I for one would've considered it unacceptable (and tough to believe): not that I know Jason personally but he's been among a handful of board members that have been kind to me and helpful across these last few years.

I do think more stringent rules are in order. Rules that are clearly laid out and acted upon when a violation occurs so there is so speculation of what caused the resulting action.

Everybody makes a mistake once in a while. But, after two or three times, there is an obvious problem.

I was really sorry to have read this news/happening this morning. I am not privvy to exactly what went on, nor will I make any judgement one way or the other, but I will say Bansheebot does not deserve to get banned. Jason has contributed so much to this board through the years he has been a member, and coming down on him - especially deleting all his posts - is harsh by any standards. Considering the crazy/intense/inane arguments and posts that have sprouted up here in the past, which were much more extreme, and the posts certain other people have been able to get away with without getting banned, well this definitely seems like a misbalanced reaction to the situation. If this is a reaction to a personal response to someone who is a Mod, however, and there is a higher echelon of SB/Super7 team beyond criticism, then that fact should be made aware to all members when joining up front. Otherwise the overtones of Big Brother implied are scary and sad. Yes, it is a mod's place to 'police' the board (among many other responsibilities, see James), but I took it to be a more or less equal status here for everyone, regardless of their background or join date. If certain individuals belong to a higher rung of the status pyramid, it is only fair that people be informed of 'going against' a person a level up from them, before any consequences be meted out as a blanket response for said action.

Discussions like this can be a very polarising issue, and I have no desire to feed the flames of any personal argument between the two sides, but considering what others have been allowed to get away with, many who are still members here, and other whose posts remain after their departure, I can only suggest that the action was done in haste, and wrongly. Certainly a warning, if necessary, is in order in a case like this. Jason has not had a past on here of anything but upstanding board behaviour, and is an established member in my view. I am extremely glad to see his status returned, but I would be happier still to see all of his posts brought back too. Arguments happen, that will inevitably arise even among the closest people, but to remove the history/burn down the libraries of the 'conquered' party is short-sighted, extremely over-reaching, and a bigger loss to the community as a whole.

I am sorry this happened, but now that it is settled for the most part, let's move on and restore everyone's status on the board. Nothing [from anyone on here] deserves to be removed from above without justification, and, when done, for those specifically targeted posts - i.e. overt hateful posts, objectionable content, etc. If we are going to have censorship against anyone on here, not just Jason in this case, I think it should be made with clear arguments and be fully transparent. Otherwise, I think we have every right to take objection as a community. And I, for one, will do so.

That is my pair of copper discs anyhow.
