Sinful? Well I did something illegal... In the USA it's illegal to hold any bird except farm birds, pigeons, house sparrows, or European starlings captive, unless you're a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. I had two baby robins fall out of a nest during a storm, so I said "whatever" to the law and rehabilitated them myself. I think the law is in place so idiots don't sit and feed babies bread (which can kill them) or keep them as pets, but I knew the proper dietary requirements and had no intention of keeping them. Took them a week and a half to fly and I released them over a week ago. They're at the point where they come to me only when hungry and then fly off. Should be another week until they say sayonara for good, they already come to beg a lot less frequently.
So illegal, yes, but not necessarily sinful... I'd like to think I did the right thing.

I've been playing "guerrilla gardener" by propagating various succulent plants in my neighborhood. Several people have suddenly created nice planter boxes around the city-planted trees in front of their homes. Some are beautifully landscaped, and some need a little help. Many attractive succulents are very easily cloned and pretty much take care of themselves. Good drought-resistant plants. I don't know if it's a sin or a good deed but I'm doing it without anyone's permission using clippings from my overgrown back yard, so I suppose it's possible that it's wrong or even illegal, but I'm cool with that.

Bacon Mountain is a pretty tough act to follow, Grace.

That is a cool idea Dean, but I think an even better idea would be to clean up all the dog shit that litters your city's sidewalks. That's a better start in beautifying your neighborhood in SF. I'm just sayin'

^^ Well, i've always thought marriage was an outdated tradition that people feel obliged to conform to . . . of course, thats just my own opinion and i wouldn't push it on anyone.
I've never been married and would never want to get hitched either. I'm not religious and I'm not a romantic.

My brother is the kind of person who is not used to people saying no to him. I said no a few years ago about being best man and he did'nt speak to me for two weeks.
Then a few years later he asks again, i say no again, and he completely flips his wig. Another two weeks of angry texts, whining and bullying.

I just wanted him to respect my wishes and my overwhelming fear of public speaking. Some people said i was being selfish, a lot of other people said
it was up to me and he should respect my wishes too.

I spent quite a while afterwards calling my brother 'Monica' (after the character from Friends).
After he calmed down he was fine about it and admitted he over-reacted.

Anyway, its just history repeating itself . . . my Dad said no to his brother back in the day too.
It went down pretty much the same for him as well . . .

So he's marrying again? May be he's the one that should stop believing in marriage.

I was best man for a wedding, like 20 years ago. I hesitated at first being the non religious guy I am but decide to do it anyway for my friend.
Thing is when I don't wanna put my name under something, I sign Satan instead (it looks close enough to my first name..) so I did just that.
Was that sinful

I fucking hate people that love to throw that word "selfish" around whenever they don't get their way. Fuck them. Good for you for saying no. Sometimes you have to consider yourself and what you are comfortable with. When people try to use that in a argument with me I just think "You passive aggressive fuckwad, you have nothing, zero, zip, if that's your ploy to guilt me into something". Selfish is turning your back on a situation with an immediately bad outcome you could have prevented, not something can be dealt with over time. My sister is fond of saying this about me because she hates her own life (and she's the one with the kid, husband, house).

I would say yes then when it came time to give the big speech I would just read all the mean bullshit texts he sent me for saying no in the first place and wish his wife good luck.

Devilishly clever!

Day 2: Office Campus BBQ, just walked away with 2 chicken breasts and a pound of brisket--all heavily sauced. Slowly eating the mountain of meat now
P.S. In my defense, I lost 5 lbs from the flu, so I'm quickly eating it back!

Just be careful! I thought I was invincible being 24 and only weighing 118lbs... Ate whatever I pleased because my metabolism could handle it. Well, my recent bloodwork came back with high cholesterol and triglycerides. I'm now only allowed 6 strips of bacon and two chicken breasts a week. No pizza, no late night KFC or Wendy's runs... It's awful! :(

Poor Maddie! :x Yep, getting old is really noooooo fun! :x :x :x

Don't worry! :D I'm an oldie, but just did my fasting blood test and physical, and the doc and tests say BP is normal, cholesterol is very low, everything in normal range. Doc says I need to put on more weight, but I don't want that! Usually I eat very little meat but lots and lots of sugar. But, I do run and lift weights to keep fit, and so that I can lift really heavy things to take care of the house. I think the latest meat binge is the body's call for protein after a long illness.

Update: The boss just came back from a 3 week trip to Italy, and brought in a huge pile of

I think I've eaten a pound of it today  :D

Strange timing. Just the other day I left my house in the morning to find a dead baby robin on my walkway. It seems there is a nest at the top of a tree in the front of my yard - never saw it before. Pretty sad to see this baby lying there. But I heard cheeps from up above, so I was glad that there was at least another up there. Well, I returned home for lunch that same day and found the other dead on the ground. Now its silent. I am pretty bummed. Not sure if perhaps the mother disappeared and they were forced to leave the nest in search of food, or what the case was. All I know is that I can't stop thinking about them. Not that I could have done anything - the nest was out of reach. But weird that this was just posted to keep it fresh in my mind. I just wish I had the opportunity to try to help them like you did.

Aww, I'm so sorry... Unfortunately if the mother robin is killed (often by cats) the father just gives up and leaves. If the babies still had a lot of "fluff" on them, they probably weren't ready to leave the nest and jumped out from desperation and hunger. :( Sadly it happens, but I know the feeling. It's pretty tragic when something so small and innocent dies needlessly.
I had something similar happen a couple of months ago, I think the mother robin was a first-time mother because she made her nest only about four feet off the ground. Three little naked babies hatched and I was thrilled because I could just walk straight up to the bush and check in on the little guys. Two days later I'm in my front yard and go to check up on them, and the nest is on the ground, overturned. I searched EVERYWHERE for the babies but didn't find a single trace. Turns out my dad spotted a cat hanging around the yard that morning, so we suspect that's who wrecked the nest... So upsetting though. Three little lives wiped out just like that.
