if you are talking about collecting japanese toys, it has nothing to do with buying the latest hyped up derivative crap of the month that you can flip for double price! On the other hand - I guess if you did an analysis of the buying/selling behavior of the people on this board (?!collectors of Japanese toys!?) over the last three years, then that would be the definition of the hobby.

There are people who on occasion buy "the latest hyped up derivative crap of the month" simply because they like that particular sculpt and paint job. Some even have no intention of ever flipping the toy and couldn't care less about the hype or aftermarket value or all the likes they would get if they shared it on some form of social media. Some people just like some toys because they want to, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Waterbear wrote: ...it certainly isn't high priced for this hobby at all. He could double that price and still sell these things. I agree with what you said but my quote is about the fact that the guy sculpting and painting these toys is not one of the makers that hypes his stuff and sells for maximum profit just to push the aftermarket value. He gets compared with Nag because of the style of the sculpt but it's not a fair comparison at all. He was selling for a slightly high but reasonable price from the beginning and once collectors and flippers started reselling his stuff for loads of cash he didn't raise his prices. He still trades for other people toys. Still lets people get their hands on blanks. The only real change is that he occasionally auctions his own one-off pieces himself. So when I said he could charge double because of the hype it was simply to point out that he isn't one of the people who does that kind of thing. Maybe at some point that will change but from what I know it hasn't yet so the guy deserves a little credit for not intentionally creating or feeding that side of collecting japanese toys. Even if you think his stuff is "hyped up derivative crap".

I know he's a very approachable guy and I heard he was just as annoyed by the aftermarket action as some people here have been. I personally don't even own the toy. A bit steep for me but I really like his tattoo work and the way he treats his fans is really cool.

Agreed Ed... Izumo is a nice dude making some cool toys. He sold me 2 blank blue figures ( 1 of each sculpt ) All i had to do was ask... They were super fairly priced for an 11" toy. Hell will be visting NYCC for those of you who would like to meet him and he will have some toys and goodies with him.

Re: Blood Guts Toys - Shikabane Kaiju
I'll try to get some better close up shots later but the weather isn't being kind today. Like people before me have said, this guy in hand is something else. The sculpt has so many textures and details in it that its hard for pictures to do it justice but Rich's paint job really show them off in a way I haven't seen in other photos.

Yes it did, the "header" is a small 3"x3" folded color image and thank you tag with both mine and Izus web sites listed. Each tag was made for either the patient zero or Freddy and attached to each figure accordingly.

One of my favorite painters of all time is James Ensor which this guy reminds me so much of. You are one lucky stiff Edgar. If you ever see anything I have you want. Well, you already know what I want.
