 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Great birthday present! Nice lot. And Lixx, good grab on the Ultra7. I have yet to add any variation to my collection! I tried for one on ebay not too long ago but lost. Slowing down majorly, so it will have to wait for a while, I guess.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
That is certainly a mighty beautiful Goji. Congratulations on landing him, and finally getting the one you were really after too. I am happy it all worked out for you; feel free to share your story - it might help some others who come in to the forum too. So is this your primary vintage figure, or part of a larger collection?

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Thanks guys! Appreciate the compliments. I am new to the world of marusan/bullmark but have been collecting godzilla for a bit now. Just gathering the wealth of knowledge from all you guys so far, Brian, Sanjeev, viva, chimply, king, etc. As for this item I tried getting it directly from the mozarito shop but they wouldn't ship direct to the US. Tried emailing them multiple times and nothing. Also, didnt feel the price was right at 100,000 yen. Living Dead (member here) was nice enough to help broker the deal and have it shipped to him, then he shipped to me. I couldnt have gotten this without him so really I owe it all to LD! I do have a few more items coming through the pipeline but I'm a condition freak so its slow pickens. Also, I've been talking to Sean Linkenback a lot lately learning about vintage goji posters. Really want to get into that as well... An original 2 panel would be a nice add. My white walls need some love.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Been a long time accumulating (mix of Marusans, Bullmarks, and a Popy)... And glad to finally have this sucker. Truly one of the most creepy looking of the vintage vinyls.

Love the Giant Goji, but super great grab on the giant sized Popy Ultra Ace! I desperately want the giant sized Popy Ultraseven but I only want the dark grey version. Waiting for an affordable one to show up. Anyhow that Ultra Ace is really nice.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
^ Busy beaver! Cool!
Thanks, all. Yeah, the giant Godzilla is one I've been lusting after since I first got into the hobby. Its never been within my personal price range. I truly lucked out with this one.
And with regards to the Popy Ultra Ace, I had just lost a heated auction for one the prior week. This one is not in the best shape, but the sting of the lost auction was still with me, so I went a little harder at this than perhaps I should have considering the condition, and won. Still very happy with it. I am really starting to like these large scale Popy Ultras - fun proportions.

Wow, what a haul! Congrats. Regarding vintages figs, the more played with, the better imho. I love how the paint apps are faded and chipped. I think it makes these figures so much better. Way more character. Would like to see some of the newer toys hacked with before release. May explain why I like the rubbed releases as well

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Thanks - I appreciate it. And I hear you on the condition front! While many avoid toys with marker on the feet (and I can understand that), personally I don't mind it. And I somewhat appreciate it. It makes the toy seem more loved; gives it more of a history. It lets me imagine a child actually playing with it, like its intended use.
But playwear also makes some of these toys affordable for me! That Windam, for example, was dirt cheap. He definitely has paint wear, but he cleaned up real nice (clean-up done after I took this shot).

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Can you please post a picture of him, post-bath? Also, can you please describe how you clean your vintages? Just about to dive in to give a bath to some new arrivals. I just use a mild dish soap and sponge.

Congrats, that giant Goji it's amazing and complete with the tower! Somebody in the group knows if are a Hawaiian version for this giant Goji? Because are like four differents colourway from this figure, but this with blue nails it's one of my favorites.
Best regards!

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Lovely! Love the earlier Marusan Ebirah--so much more blue and silver spray than the later Bullmarks...plus that black stripe. I just wanna boil him up and eat him!

Thanks fellas! For some reason the black stripe on Ebirah reminds me of a piece of poo in a shrimp.

Just about to dive in to give a bath to some new arrivals. I just use a mild dish soap and sponge. From what I read, most people here are pretty gentle with their cleaning methods. I actually am much more aggressive. I use an electric cleaning brush (like an electric toothbrush). I give it a quick soap bath too, but its the rubbing, not the soap, that removes most of the caked-on crap. I have not really had any paint loss via this method. The old paint seems to adhere very well. And this method is especially needed for figures like this Windam, with lots of nooks and crannies. The only pre-cleaning photo I had was the one I posted, but I blew it up. You can see some really nasty crap on his hip, shoulder, head, feet, etc. The bottom two are the post-cleaning shots. Some paint rubs on the belly, unfortunately. I'm not sure if the bare spots are mostly paint rubs or just lack of coverage when initially painted. Its had to imagine how it could have gotten paint wear under its arms and consistently in streaks.
