Good luck guys. Report back with progress, sounds like fun.

I've been trying to do a horror movie each night in October for years unsuccessfully.

I've finally given up and now me and a couple like minded friends and our dogs take a day off near Halloween and binge on unhealthy food and beer from early morning till night watching as many horror movies as we can in the day.

This will be the fourth year running. The only thing we always watch each year is Trick R Treat.

Oh and great choices Danny.

Thanks! I know they aren't obscure choices, but still awesome ones IMO. This is going to the first year I might have a chance at completing it haha.. Most years I end up binge watching 20 movies in a few days.

Post Re: Horror Movies
This has inspired me to see how many horror films I can watch this October. So far I've seen:

--Christine
--The Funhouse
--Carrie (1976)
--A Nightmare on Elm Street (1980)
--Wes Craven's New Nightmare
--Shivers
--Carrie (2013)
--The Town that Dreaded Sundown (1976)
--Berberian Sound Studio (such a good movie!)

That's it so far.

It reminds me of early Polanski. And calling it a horror film might be a stretch.

I saw Afflicted last night. Pretty entertaining flick, well done, and not at all what I expected. Its a found-footage type of flick, although its not really "found". Its blogged.

Post Re: Horror Movies
The last two movies I watched were Abandoned Mine and Beckoning The Butcher.

Abandoned Mine was alright. I mean it's more of an R.L. Stine/Goosebumps type of flick then anything else but I can see it being fun for a parent to watch with their kid or something along those lines. Most adults would probably not enjoy it alone.

Beckoning The Butcher was a lot of fun. Another found footage movie with some documentary stuff mixed in. Very low budget but it wasn't a typical horror with generic stereotyped characters at all. Good acting all around and it built tension really well. When shit happens it actual feels scary because of the realism of the characters and the acting. I liked it a lot.

--The Double (another Polanski-esque paranoiac thriller)

And some horror docs:

--Never Sleep Again
--Nightmare Factory
--Doc of the Dead

Finally watching Wolf Creek right now. Nothing has happened yet, but I think the shit's about to hit the fan.

I saw that at the theatre so damn long ago. What do you think so far?

I always want either someone to root for or a bad guy to cheer on and for me that movie lacked both of those things.

I can see that. It wasn't nearly as brutal, or interesting as I had heard. This was the R rated version though.

It was definitely lacking something. I'll still probably give part 2 a whirl on Netflix.

The more I think about the movie--and this may just be because I'm desensitized to movie violence--it wasn't really any worse than an episode of Criminal Minds. They have some pretty horrific shit on that show.

That's true but it is an older movie so back then it was a bit more extreme I guess.

The second one goes all out with the gore but it has a slightly campy feel to it.

Try as I might, I couldn't make it through The Visitor. That overly long scene at the basketball game kind of lost me.

I'd heard a lot of good stuff about it, how weird it was, etc. Heck it may be great, I just couldn't stick with it.

I'm watching the remake right now. Not bad.

Also watched Wolf Creek 2. Definitely gorier, a little more fleshed out story-wise, better than the first really.

The Visitor was a mess of a movie, but worth seeing if you like train wrecks

I'm checking out the Halloween remake now. Never seen it

I am tired of the hit or miss stuff I've been watching lately. Tonight I'm watching Critters because that movie will never let me down.
