Post Re: All out Grody - The database
I don't know about anybody else, but I'm noticing 8 different arms... 4 left and 4 right. Of each, I see a whittled, a hairy, a smooth... and one with very tiny lines down it, almost like woodgrain.

http://i1021.photobucket.com/albums/af334/onwi/349544337.jpg

The monster on the left obviously has a hairy "long" arm... and the monster on the right has a "long" arm with tiny little lines that are noticeable around the wrist. And there is an even smoother arm without these little woodgrainy lines.

Every release says it'll come with 2 of 6 arms. I just want to make sure I'm not going nuts in seeing 8 different arms in all.

Lifted from October Toys by Winu, lifted from Winu by me. I resized it and plopped it here by way of an answer.

Sorry, been slacking a bit. Added the recent NYCC releases. Not great pics on them all, but I tried to get the best representative shot. If you don't like that I linked to any of your images, just PM me and I'll swap it out.

Now how in the heck will I catalogue everyone's custom designs? :o

Sweet thanks! I believe the consensus was eventually Werewolf, Mummy, Vampire, Frank (-enstein's Monster), Invisible Man, Golem?

The sad news is that it's woefully incomplete --- "Last edited on Thu Feb 09, 2012 3:21 pm"

It would be a lotta lotta work to bring it up to date!

That is true, and I take full responsibility. Like all databases on here, it is a particularly difficult task to maintain, but even more so given Luke's apparently unceasing vigour and zest for producing more toys. That being said, I will try to do some updates as I can, but it may have to be limited to the standard OG Grody stuff, with a separate header for all the other projects he has been involved in.

I think it was Luke's mission to create an undatabasable collection.

I'd call it a group failure, Steve - no one man could track to output of a Rook on the loose! We should hit up Amy and see if she's kept up some sort of ledger on his madness.

Post Re: All out Grody - The database
I think it's so hard to maintain a database in a forum. The medium just isn't that conducive to keeping it up to date and manageable. I hate to say it but I think one of the best ways of keeping up a database is a site like trampt or rotocasted where items can be categorized by artist, platform, etc. I wish there was a way to integrate that sort of database into SB.

Well, nevertheless, I offer my apologies for what it is worth. I know, being one of those people myself, how useful such databases are, even for just learning new stuff and checking out great toys, and so I feel bad leaving it in an incomplete state - particularly for those passionate people who are investigating into GS stuff (or other toy lines for that matter), I feel I am short-changing their efforts and at the same time not giving Luke his rightful attention.

It was a very good effort Steve and definitely appreciated. But realistically it's extremely hard keeping a database especially with all those releases coming out at such a fast paste.

I've tried to keep the Grody monsters up to date on Rotocasted, but some of those releases have been so small they come and go and no one knows about it.

I feel like there must be hundreds of releases, some of them probably as small as 5 or 10. I would say that a complete database would probably be impossible, even if you had kept it up to date. And that you took on the task is commendable, Ultra. Thanks for trying!!!

Totally agree. Unless Luke or Amy have some sort of data base I think it will be next to impossible to record everything they produce. There are just too many small runs and one offs to keep track of (which is a big part of the fun of collecting these guys). Personally, I think that if there is a substantial data base already on rotocasted then we shouldn't try to reinvent the wheel, we should just continue to add to that one.
