I just don't get why Argento can't get good cgi on any of his movies. They ruin all his newer efforts. If you have seen his Dracula you know what i'm talking about. It was a fun stupid move but my god the cgi is awful.
True, but I am convinced that better CGI would not help make Darcula a less bad movie. There is so much wrong about this flick that it made the so-bad-it's-good-cycle a couple of times and ended up at so-bad
Hmm good point. Maybe I just don't want to believe that Argento sucks now so blame the bad cgi.

Was the Sacrament good? I have it but never actually tried watching it.
I heard this just came out!
I really dig The Vicious Brothers work so far and I love alien sci-fi horror so I am beyond excited to see this movie. The other stuff they did that I really had fun watching were the Grave Encounters movies.

Re: Horror Movies
It was decent. I'm finding that TI West is a bit overrated. I'm not sure if these Mumblegore guys (West, Joe Swanberg, AJ Bowen, Amy Siemetz, etc.) have yet to really live up to their potential, but I keep watching their films in hopes I'll be blown away. The Sacrament is basically a "found footage" version of the Jonestown Massacre, yet less compelling.

A local video store had a 50% Criterion sale, so for a Halloween treat I picked up The Inncocents. Not a drop of blood, no special effects, but a very creepy ghost story. (Truman Capote co-wrote the screenplay.) If you have not seen it, do so.

It's going to be on TCM this week. I gotta record it.

Clownhouse and Masters of horror: We all scream for ice cream. Clownhouse is a good movie with a very dark past. In case anyone doesnt know the director was raping the young actor during the filming. This dirtbag also made Powder and Jeepers creepers. He went to jail for like 13 months of a 3 year sentence. I do get it.

Been watching the edited versions of the Friday the 13th series on AMC. I don't know why they bother showing these hacked up versions since Walking Dead is as gory or gorier than these.

I was thinking the same thing. It has to be because these were cut a while ago and they are just using the older cut versions. At least my son can watch them without me having to fast forward.

Re: Horror Movies
I figured as much, too.
As the series progresses, there's a little more shown in each movie. The first one was cut so badly that you didn't actually see anyone get killed.
On another note, finally watched Begotten and I'm going to count that as a horror movie!

I watched See no evil 2 and it wasn't that good. Maybe a rental. The ending was pretty dumb.

Yeah It was alright but nothing special. I think I let myself get too excited for it since the first one was fun and everyone seems to think the Soska sisters will be the next big thing in horror movies. It was average at best.
Wolfcop was pretty damn entertaining though! Funny and fun with a few moments of truly memorable gore. The way the first werewolf transformation starts is pretty amazingly horribly unforgettable.
Nightbreed is on tap for tonight.

Damn straight it's the directors cut. Took me awhile to find it but it was well worth it.
Haven't seen Girls Nite Out but I'll check ebay.
Tonight was The Canal and it was kind of brilliant actually. Wonderful acting all around and a creepy story without any of the classic standard horror stuff most movies are full of. I will watch it again for sure but it's a must see if you like serious scary movies and can handle a slow boil without much gore.

Sounds good, I will give it a try. It is really hard to find any scary movies. The last time I really had a hard time getting to sleep was after The Ring (Us remake). I do not exactly know why but Samara Morgan is my nemesis (and you do not even actually qualify as prey since they never show the full film in the movie . . . but still).

Re: Horror Movies
Just watched Deliver Us From Evil and The Town That Dreaded Sundown.
Deliver Us From Evil started with pretty bad editing but picked up it's pace. Main actor was dry. Typical possession fluff. But fun and the main evil guys transformation in the final hour is pretty amazing.
The Town That Dreaded Sundown was odd an awesome. Felt like an early Carpenter film but for more surreal and with much more artistic qualities. In fact it's that artistic surrealism that makes this movie so great. There are times it seems like it could be a movie within a movie or a dream within a dream (Like Nightmare on Elm Street: a dream within a dream with Evil Dead on in the background). It's slasher horror and it's an arthouse cult classic to be.
