Sure thing John. I just checked, as I could do a special order for you, and it may be out of production now (possibly, they frequently start up new batches too). Like other whiskies, rye is a very particular thing, everyone's got their favourite. Some prefer less distinct spiciness, while others love it. I haven't tried the Cask 16 myself, so I am not sure how to find an exact comparison, but Canadian whisky is really having a rebound in recent years with small batches and specialty distilleries. I would be surprised if there was much we could get here that isn't imported to the US though, as the liquor distribution there is leaps and bounds ahead of in Canada.
So, is anyone going to Fantasia this year? I am so sad to be missing out, it is just the second time I will be away from it since I have started going. It is honestly my favourite part of summer in Montreal, and in that city, that is saying a lot. Goshdarnit.
I was finally able to go down to the Jake et Dinos Chapman exhebition at DHC/ ART in old MTL. This blew my fucking mind out !!! Can't recommend it enough + it's free. It ends at the end of the month - I think I may go back. Took a lot of pics, hope they turn out OK.
The city has its faults, to be sure, but trust me, I have been in areas with far worse city planning. Yes, the road system is pretty awful, the plan at time incomprehensible, and the quality - well, probably some of the worst in the country - I put a lot of the issues down to the drivers as well. Montreal is pretty bad, and in general people are becoming worse and worse on the road universally. I put it down to general self-centredness of modern society and lack of respect for others and the rules of the road. Hopefully single traffic as we know it becomes extinct in the future and we all move to a system of efficiency and safety; but I can't see it coming anytime soon.

Yeah. There was a lock-down in my building (I work two blocks away from Parliament) but everyone was (of course) safe. Just a loony, we shouldn't make too big of a deal about this. I -was- pleasantly surprised at the preparedness though - the lock-down was quick, everyone was calm and professionnal, support was offered, etc. buses ran for free, restaurants inside the building delivered food for free and people actually lined up the next day to pay for what they had... Well, some people: our director paid for lunch for something 30 people!
So, is everyone still celebrating? Happy Birthday to our great nation. Getting near a century and a half old, but isn't showing its age just yet. As much as there are things I would like to change in the current status, I am still ever proud to hail from the GWN.
Toss your toques and raise your glasses to Canada!
So I know the talk is all about SDCC these days, but is anyone checking out the Comic Con this weekend? It seems it is getting gradually bigger and attracting more folks, albeit still a pretty small con. Anyhow, snap some pics for the SB crew if you go. {and wearing costumes earns you bonus points}
I didn't hear much about Festival de BD either, but I assume at least one or two 'brainers were there. Some good local artists were on hand for signings, if that is your thing.
Blech. I think one is one too many. It is unfortunate that SW has really permeated every aspect of culture - it takes away from the stuff that is actually great. Sadly, it has become an easy go-to for anyone lazy trying to make a quick gimmick to cash in on so-called 'pop culture.' I would also venture to say that the audience for these toys and similar merch were not alive at the time and probably feel no connection to the actual films. Not attacking this particular designer at all, just speaking generally as I am tired of the constant bombardment of bastardised versions of something I love.
