Balzac Toys: Love 'Em or Hate 'Em ??
not sure where to put this, but Balzac are japanese soo...
love (their toys) or hate em?
they tend to inspire either/or
just curious after reading such highly split opinions on this board over the last year or so.

some i like, such as the 12" medicom bagman. The SB vinyl fight one is not bad, all the rest are meh.
I think its the fact theres not much variation apart from the basic colour.

I think they are great. There are so many cool designs and interesting things that they come up with.
Most people that don't the toys, from what I've seen with my friends and other people I've met, is due to the fact that they don't like the bands music.
Other people don't like the fact that it is IMPOSSIBLE to collect everything that Balzac puts out. Collecting everything that Secret Base puts out is probably a hell of a lot easier...

I like a bit of their gear. Don't like the bat, but like the Skullman - both the vinyl an the 12" Medicom. I also like some of the various misc. stuff they do like the plush etc. Some of the SB Bagmen are nice too, but not all.
So, Jackie, I need another option on the poll!

I think when the variations go as far as these guys have, it becomes easy to pick and choose as they come along. I only have 1 skullman, and he is cool. Would like more but they are expensive. I like the Christmas one, so might jump on it.

I know it's pretty hard to come up with something original these days.
I agree the Balzac's aren't for everyone. I've seen a whole bunch of extremely cool toys since coming to this BBS by all sorts of makers. I have a soft spot for Secret Base, but if I had the cashflow I would be picking up a lot of other cool stuff!

Not necessary to defend the toys. I can see why people like them.
Classic horror looking stuff rocks me to a degree.
Personally, I think it was the music I didn't like.
(But I am an old Misfits fan )

Thanks for the link - I'd never heard Balzac either, and that sounded pretty much nothing like I would have expected (from their schtick, I was imagining a more-or-less straight Misfits cop). Also interesting was the fact that of the five videos I watched, none of them sounded very much the same. Some of it was a little bit too nu-metal for my tastes, but I can see where it would work really well live.

Wow. That's the first time I have heard anyone refer to Balzac as 'Nu-Metal'. What exactly where the 5 vids you watched? I think they are about the farthest thing from it. I think most people either love their music, or hate it. I don't often hear anything inbetween that.

I'm not trying to make you into a fan of their music... just was shocked to see them compared to cheesy nu-metal.
