Post any cryptid or yokai collectors here?
If anyone here specifically collects cryptids or yokai or other folkloric or mythical monsters, I started a Facebook group for collectors here:

I belong to a lot of toy groups and a lot of yokai and cryptozoology groups, but it seemed like there was no group out there for those who collect cryptids and yokai. If this interests you, please join!

I think you will find lots of folks here enjoy cryptids and such
sorry I am not on FB but its good to hear there are support
groups for what was once nearly a word of mouth topic

1 of my personal favorites is the Hopkinsville Goblins tale

1 of the most difficult to get info on was the Albino Mothman
that appeared right before the Chernobyl meltdown/disaster

I'm gonna retell my story from this long dead thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=45484&p=771600

Here's the weirdest flatwoods thing I have. I read a tip online on roadside america that if you go to a sonoco station in Flatwoods, WV ("the one across from the Shoneys") and go into the attached teddy bear gift shop, there are these ceramic flatwoods monsters you could buy. (This story was too weird not to check out, and we had already visited point pleasant earlier that day to see the Mothman!)

Skylar and I reluctantly wandered in to this teddy bear gift shop in a gas station (it smelled like apples and vanilla candles) and we were like "this is bullshit". As we were about to walk out, we saw this:

There they were on an upside down fruit crate in front of the window standing about a foot tall. Holy. Shit. The story is real.

Inside each was a creepy photocopy of this 1952 newspaper clipping about the sighting.Image

No tag, no sticker, nothing else indicating where they came from or who made them or why they were for sale in this bear gift store. They were around $25-$30 each.

We bought 3 and a Sunday paper, to wrap them in. :) All 3 made it home safe and are in our collection.

We watch a lot of UFO documentaries, and many UFO weirdos have them in the background. Clearly they went into the same weird bear shop in WV to get one.

I felt like part of a secret club.

^Excellent story! It sure would be interesting to find out who made them.

Folks sure are digging up the old gold from threads here lately! That post of Missy's is one of my favorites, like I literally bookmarked that thread.

That is a wonderful story. And a wonderful piece. And not to detract from it any, but that same store now sells that Flatwoods online for $28!

A conundrum of cryptids:

(Colors and saturation were manipulated just a bit as I wanted something colorful for the banner for my cryptid group. So if you collect these too and are worried you missed a colorway, you didn't.)
