Yeah.. the whole lady stoneheart thing. I had to google it, Kinda wish I didn't. Got me interested in giving the books another shot though, Things seem to be ramping up.

yep, no way I'm googling it, heh.
I am actually quite surprised at the differences that are seeming to spring up. I am at home sick at the moment and spent a good portion of the day watching the videos moodydoom posted (thanks moodydoom!). Quite interesting seeing some of the House back stories, and I also ended up watching some of the episode rewinds and differences between book and show.
It can be a bit annoying, the host is a little bit OTT, but definitely brings some interesting stuff together. Only thing that was potentially spoiled is
John Snow is actually Ned's nephew, not bastard son...which means he's part Targeryen.. although of course this is just a theory, but I think it makes the most sense, way more than Ned having sex with some other lady, given how honourbound he was...
I enjoyed the finale too (if not that it had to end). It did tie up a lot of storylines, especially covering a lot of different things very shortly I felt, to make up for the last episode.
As far as deviations from the book material, I will just say my impression is they are planning on sticking with the same storylines, but compressing a lot of it and dropping things here and there. Which I have no problem with, and I certainly appreciate the tv show on its own, it is more the stuff they choose to add that has me scratching my head sometimes, when they have to omit so much other good stuff.

Yeah, i've had similar thoughts . . . . like all the 'romantic' bits they keep trying to shoe-horn in.

BTW the one thing that bummed me was The Hound. I know we don't really know if he's dead (at least us non-readers), but that was probably his end.
It's left open in the books too, Arya leaves him for dead . . . he's delirious from his badly infected neck bite but its not made absolutely clear whether he will die or not. I personally hope he'll be back . . . he's too good a character to waste!
The TV show is kind to the hound. They swap stuff around so he has a much longer journey with Arya. They dont meet Brienne in the book, for example. All in all i thought they did a great job condensing the story. Its impossible to please everyone.

Re: Game of Thrones
I started the season thinking yawn, not another Daenerys scene, then things started to flow. Then all of a sudden, after some pretty good episodes came the season finale where everything seemed rushed to me, especially the Tyrion sequence. I'll probably continue watching this show but I feel the authors need to take some decisions, I'd rather accept the fact that some characters get dropped in order to develop others with more details and depth.

Lord Tywin Lannister did not, in the end, shit gold.
I didn't necessarily want them to use this line somehow, as it would have been forced, but I was kind of expecting Tyrion to give a little surprised "Hm." expression or head nod as a subtle reference to it.

Cannot wait, although the music doesnt work for me haha.
Im debating on wether to see the last two episodes in IMAX this week, not very often you get the chance to watch television episodes on that size screen!

I'm kind of over Game of Thrones. Most of the Starks are dead, missing, or crippled. No Lady Stoneheart. Jeffrey is finally dead. Can't stand Daenary's story. Not sure why I'd still watch...

Re: Game of Thrones
^^ The plot has some big changes and big surprises coming up . . . . Arya's story gets so good, same with that charming fucker Tyrion. And for Daenerys . . . her story picks up the pace and then goes crazy!
I see no reason not to stick with it.
