I've got the new Zelda game and Trauma Center. I've only played a little bit of Zelda. My girlfriend's taking up all the action!! Wii sports is a blast though!

Boxing on Wii sports is hysterical. One of the opponents looks like Jesus. He's got a weak chin too...

I just noticed this Wii popping up over here recently. Have not a clue what it is, but you guys have got my interest up. I only ever look at PS consoles as they have the games I'm after. Nintendo has always had the same old tired titles each console as far as I'm concerned. But take that with a grain of salt - limited titles released here plus I'm a picky gamer. Just the RPGs for me really.

damn...hardcore...
I would have been pissed if I camped out all night and didn't get one. Lucky they didn't mug your ass for yours!!
Joe Bunny wrote: No, I had to stay overnight. Right after work I went straight to best buy, which is only a few blocks away from my place. I was going to see if there was a line or not, which there was. I didn't want to take a chance and come back in the morning & have it sold out, so I just stayed put. I lucked out because there were people who camped out a few places behind me and still didn't get one.

I'm a lame nintendo nerd and bought most of the games.
Excitetruck - pretty good take some getting used to the controls
Trauma Center - operating on people, what more do you need?
Monster 4x4 - sucks completely
Pro GT - if you like the GBA GT racing games it's basically the same.
Monkey Ball - damn good party games.
Zelda - amazing and probably will be my most fav Zelda game yet.
Tony Hawk - sorta lame
Call of Duty 3 - very cool and nice change of control
Red Steel - hard to control but it's pretty well made
Rayman - pretty fun gameplay, reccomend renting first
Rampage - One of my favorite all-time games but the control is pathetic.
Wii Sports - I've found myself playing this game constantly, extremely fun
All this and I still spent less than a PS3 w/extra controller and a game.
One of the best parts too is the ability to download old NES, SNES, Genesis, TG16, and N64 games. 10 new games offered per week is what I've read. You can check news and weather forecasts. Internet browsing comes later. As long as you understand that the Wii is all about bringing a new dimension to gameplay instead of graphics you definitely will be happy.

I'm not sure if there's a avatar generator online, but there's a program called "Mii" on the console where you can make yourself. I just took this picture off the television screen.

The sony store at the SF Metreon had a second shipment of PS3s yesterday... I went to the car show at the Moscone center, and saw some people walking out with PS3s... I probably shoulda stood in line for one. Oh well...

I would really reccomend waiting on the PS3. None of the launch titles are any good at all. March is going to be the month to buy a PS3. A ton of good titles launch then.

So this internet function on the Wii - are future games going to be designed so you can play against other people on-line? Do you have to subscribe to a specific service in order to play Wii on-line? Do you have to plug the console into a phone line/DSL modem. What's the skinny on the Wii on-line capabilities? (I've never played anything on-line - so I'm clueless!)

It has wireless connectivity. I didn't even look for an ethernet cable port on the back but there's an option in the menu for a wired connection so it must be there. Supposedly if you download the internet browser before summer it will be free software. The News and Weather Forecast channels are not available yet but end of december and end of january is when they are set to be active.
I really don't know about internet multiplayer but i'm sure it's going to have it if the DS does.
PS3 games that I'm waiting for in March are Motostorm and Assassin's Creed.

:from another board:
"for anyone in the NY area, the toysrus times square has 9000 wii's as of 6pm 11/21, it's about a 45 min process, but there are plenty and the lines aren't long"
It may be worth checking out if your in NYC and want a wii...

I think that March is about the time Europe will 'officially' be gettin' 'em . . . tick, tick, tick . . .
