I've had packages that the website said was delivered but were actually held by customs / parcel force until i paid charges.
I'm in the UK, though . . . .

I've also had stuff left with a neighbour and they did'nt bother to tell me, and it said delivered on the website.

'in or around mailbox' sounds a bit vague doesn't it?

It was weird wording on it. Im just pissed cause the front door with the mailbox is right on the sidewalk. You could stand on the sidewalk and reach over and grab my mail. Ugh.

sometimes packages get marked delivered before they're actually delivered.

you need to call the local post office, they will follow up with the driver. packages have basic insurance even if you don't pay extra for it.

when I lived in an apartment, I had a package intercepted by maintenance that supposedly got mixed with a bunch of other boxes at the front desk.

The USPS mail stopped coming to my entire buidling for 2 weeks. However, all of our mail was marked delivered. When I went to the post office to try to find out what was going on, the supervisor said, the mailmal man lost the key, and couldn't get into the mailbox. When I asked why it was marked delivered, the supervisor said the mailman marked it delivered because "she wanted to deliver it."

You need to visit your local post office and not just call. Request to talk to the manager and ask why this keeps happening. Also ask for proof that the parcel was delivered. Tell them you were at your home at the time of delivery and no one knocked. No one bothered. Lie and say you were standing in front of the boxes when the carrier dumped off the mail. Whatever you have to do to get them to get off their asses and do their fucking job. The USPS are absolute worthless fucks. All of them. Lazy, entitled pieces of complete shit. I hate unions.

I've had dozens of things get marked as delivered the day before they actually show up. No idea why.

^^ Yep. It still surprises me how bad our postal service, in the UK, is sometimes.
There have been countless times when i have been in my building ready and waiting for my parcel
and some temp says they tried to deliver it but nobody was there . . .

I call the post office and they always make bullshit excuses:
"Oh, she tried ringing the bell and knocking but nobody answered".

Utter bollocks. Nobody rang. Nobody knocked.

This is one reason why I moved back to Japan.

I love mail. 7 days a week delivery, 4 major delivery services all competing with each other, multiple attempts within the same day to deliver packages.. and same day Amazon Prime delivery.

Oh boy, I would never leave the house to shop again.

That being said, if you were at home at the supposed time of the delivery, definitely complain to USPS. They should have knocked, rang a door bell, whatever.
Also, USPS, when they DO mark deliveries properly, have an SMS alert service for parcels with tracking. Every time I order something I sign up for it, so I get a text when it's delivered. Allows for less stealing time.

Of course, that's if they decide to even mark it as delivered in the first place... I've had stuff be delivered to me but it was still marked as "in transit" because the lazy mailman didn't scan.

Yeah, you'd think competition would actually mean something in this country..... Nah. Instead it's just a bunch of whiny turds with a sense of entitlement. Fuckin' unions. Fuckin' minimum wage.

So this was delivered next door!!!! I just got it yesterday. I just moved here not too long ago and don't even know these people. Glad they left it on my steps. I saw the guy as he was leaving it. I did get mail yesterday, magazines and a record and the mailman laid it up against the door. The problem is there like 6"s of snow!!! The shit was wet

^^^^^

File a complaint. I have learned that the managers at the actual post office tend to hate the mail carriers. So, if you are able to pit them against each other and finesse hostility that it can go to your advantage.

I assure you Lixx & I have met in our younger years along with Jebcrow, I used to frequent Breakbeat Science in the late 90s. Usually I apologize in advance, I am only good at giving bad advice.

It's an east coast-west coast thing. People per square mile really. Motherfucking density! We're edgier because you're literally surrounded by people 24-7, thus annoyed. Yeah your cities are crowded too but more spread out area-wise. If you've ever lived in the Tri- State corridor (NY NJ PA) you can never get away from people/traffic. I've lived in all three. Have a look at the top ten, Cali doesn't even come close:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Un ... on_density

Factor in the shitty weather (it's currently snowing yet again here and I ache all over from constant shoveling of the driveway- sometimes twice a day) and people get absolutely bitter. You hippies have sunshine 24-7, mild temps. I guess you could make a case that climate change will even us out eventually in the stress factor with forest fires, quakes, and you will have no usable water. Good news for me is I live right by a giant glacial lake. I've DJ'd in SF (never been to LA area) people kind of seem clicky, too mellow (but shady up to something mellow) and freaked me out if I could be honest. Here on the east coast passive aggressiveness will get you into trouble. Being blunt makes you part of our tribe and endearing. I don't know how Kaos and Method 1 moved to SF, being east coast boys from Philly.

Jungle/ Drum N Bass (and being a mixer of it) will reset your brain to think fucking fast as well. There's that. It's true we know Mr Jeb. One of the coolest cats there is.

The ground is too frozen for this great idea. Also covered in 2 feet of snow.
