Has anyone seen Digging Up the Marrow yet? The trailer looks terrible but I love Alex Pardee's art and creature design so I am wondering if the movie is any good.

I did and was very disappointed. Alex is great, the idea is great but it just didn't come together for me. I think having Ray Wise as the weirdo was a mistake. He's too recognizable and distracting for me to ever get past that and start to get into the movie in the way that a found footage/docudrama asks you to. In fact, Alex's art was too recognizable and distracting as well. And I really did feel like there could have been more monsters...which Adam Green had said was the point of the movie.

I actually haven't loved any of Adam Green's movies yet. I watch every one hoping this is going to be his classic because he is such a horror fanboy but they always fall short. I think that is what tends to hold him back too, is that all his movies feel a bit to fanboyish and corny. Too many sly references to other horror.

But I have seen some decent ones recently.

Housebound and Honeymoon on Netflix streaming are worth a watch.

Starry Eyes was a lot of fun, but the ending felt rushed.

Can't wait for It Follows to come out.

Mh, I somehow was expecting that reaction. The trailer already was kind of meh.
I was not expecting too much anyway - I never understood what people liked about Hatchet, so I have my doubts about Greens work anyway.

Honeymoon is on the German Netflix as well 8) - I almost forgot about that movie, the trailer is quite promising.

Yeah, can't wait for It Follows either. The reviews are almost too good.

Watched both of these as well. Liked Housebound more than Honeymoon, but both are worth a watch like you say.

So here is the thing, I love movies most people would say no to. This is a ridiculous over the top movie, with bad sound dubbing and a ridiculous story. That being said, the transformation scenes were pretty awesome and the one liners are so bad they are good. I personally enjoyed it.

Backcountry is out in theatres and on demand as well. I liked it. Much less horror then advertised and more of a survival against nature thing but the acting was great and near the end it really had me cringing. Good movie for anyone who likes the outdoor in the woods thing.

Saw Zombeavers in the theatre on saturday. Wow what a fun movie. I have to say I was surprised it was so good. Not high art in any way. At 77 minutes it doesn't over stay it's welcome.

Spring was very cool. More of a love story then a true horror flick but the originality was great and the acting was wonderful. Good movie to watch with someone you care about.

Yeah, where? Can't believe that for all the buzz and great reviews it's gotten, it's just not playing out much. Really want to see!

IT FOLLOWS screenings here: http://bit.ly/1BhUZGw
I liked It Follows but didn't love it.

I enjoyed Spring more, it's a boy-meets-girl story with horror undertones. It's in theaters and On Demand.

It follows is getting a ton of buzz. I didn't think it looked that great from the trailer. I'll see it at some point but not all that excited to.

Post Re: Horror Movies
I think people are to forgiving when it comes to horror movies. They are not held to the same expectations of regular cinema. Maybe I expect to much.

Spring and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night...the 70's are over so pick up the pace.

A few minutes of A Girl Walks and I was done. How long do scenes need to be drawn out? Just shows me immediately the story line wasn't well written.

Spring would have been a decent 10 minute short film but as a full length I want my time back. The guys back story was pointless and dragged and then repeated to much in dialogue. The fact that she had a sunlight condition but then was often seen under the full sun didn't help the cause. The 'bad' side characters were all over the top. The only thing good about this film was the scenery. If they removed the actors so I could watch the background it would have been a lot better.

Deathgasm is getting good reviews. Should I have hope?

its playing in a few theaters here in NYC.

I just love any coming of age story, especially when its tinged with cronenburg and carpenter stuff. i really liked the score to the movie, and the kids acting in it were great. i actually like a lot of other things but dont want to give anything away or take away from someone elses experience.

Seriously. That movie was horrid and to tarnish the VHS name with that utter nonsense was beyond stupid and short-sighted. Such a great franchise literally killed by that steaming pile of shit for no reason whatsoever.

The shorts weren't so bad, but the wrap-around was really awful. I watched it immediately after The Babadook however, which is the best horror movie I've seen in a long while. Hell it's the best new film of any genre I've seen in a long while.

oh man. I just downloaded it, checked out a few screenshots and thought it might be interesting. should I just straight up pass? or, is it worth the 80 mins? I'll say, I do love a good crap movie, but only if there's some redeeming quality. I'm in your hands... to delete, or not to delete, that, is the question.
