You know I still have my GID version (regular release). I think I tried selling it (to make room) but had no takers at $40, so I said fuck it and kept it. I'm actually glad I did, because it still has appeal and is different from the other glow toys I have. gazpacho wrote: that one is great! the paint job really brings the sculpt to life ultrakaiju wrote: Yeah, that is a really nice one off. Congrats on a great buy there Yuck. Strange to bring this thread back to life, but I am happy you did. And such a nice glow paint application too. So, have you got enough GID toys now to light up your entire house? Lixx - Honestly the regular GID release is really well done I think, I think it just wasn't rare or hard to get enough for people to get hyped about, especially after the Sarumon bubble burst. Gaz - Yeah I really like the patchwork contrasting primary colors. A lot of the Sarumon paint apps were a bit too busy for me, but this one is the exact right amount of busy to make the sculpt pop. Ultrakaiju - Well my bedroom, where a good 85% of the collection rests has a solid wall more of less full of GID, definitely provides some light. My shelves are crazy tightly packed though, if I had more shelves and spread out some I could definitely get an okay 360 degree thing going on I think, but that is for someday when I have a dedicated collection room. I do have some giants and random stuff scattered about the house, not to mention the sad sacks that are boxed up in the garage. Regardless, I still have to use lamps at night, so not planning on stopping my GID quest until I get to that point. Maybe then I can save enough on electricity to make this money sink of a hobby lucrative?

Still have mine also, really no clue why these died such a horrible death. Great toy and the 1 offs were so good.
Maybe it's because the line really came out to strong to fast, or really never went any where. To bad really.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
The line started to go somewhere towards the end, with the alternate heads and minis, but no one cared at that point apparently so there were hardly any releases. I really think if more minis were done it could have gotten people on board again. I would have loved to see any/all with a GID base, but the closest was teasing milky base Mejira and mini Sar also from 2011 bags

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
I think I have 2 of these. I know I have 1 (GID regular release) and I think they are pretty cool. Nice to go back and look at all the other variations in color. I don't really understand what's going on with the chest though, with the 3 plates and the sort of melting look.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
The Marusan original Bera it's based on had more plates/blockiness all over into the back so it was sorta more cohesive than Sarumon, though the chest part is very similar. I assume they were going for a look as if it was based off a tokusatsu suit, which I think they nailed.

he could have done away with the plates. it has enough on it so people can see the resemblance.

I've always liked the Sarumons. The arms do bother me though. I wish it wasn't so circular. But it is a minor complaint. I still like the figure.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
I spent some time reading this thread from the beginning. It's interesting to see the hype train in action when this toy was the flavor of the month. Watching that train pick up speed heading straight off a cliff. Prime example of a rise and fall type of thing. That custom by Refreshment! The early Sarumons looked great along with the collabs. I don't recall another figure that had pulled so many artists to paint this toy. I am on the hunt for these if I see them but I am selective. Some paint jobs were meh. It was a strange inconsistency. maxaltoman wrote: Lixx wrote: Nate wrote: I've always liked the Sarumons. The arms do bother me though. I wish it wasn't so circular. But it is a minor complaint. That's interesting.. I'll check out the thread tomorrow while I am doing nothing at work! Not a fan of this toy.. I don't know what it is because I can definitely see parts of the figure that I like. I think it's just a mix between the arms and the posture/stance.. Same kind of feeling I get with the Jungle Fever Chameleon figure that came out last year. Overall a great figure but there's just something 'off' about it and not in a good way..

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
Nate inspired me to read through this whole thread too. Damn what a fuckin life this toy had. Rip-off controversy, crazy marketing, tons of customs/collabs, rapid fire releases (too many too fast), insane flipping (700 for one at one point), sweeping the next sculpt under the rug cause it was soo hated. Seemed to be a very popular thread with tons of discussion and then boom, thread completely stops with a year till the next post. fuckin crazy my favorite quote of the whole thread... silver_lining_man wrote: ...i guess i just like that fact that something so awful exists...

Cool toy. Owned the Lamour Tribal version for a while before I sold it. Honestly any of them feels like it could fit in with any Zollmen.

The Head Hunter version is cool as hell, I'd still like to find that one. I've got one of the 'last' Sarumons, this one-off on pink vinyl with purple, silver, lime green, blue, and red sprays:

That one is really nice, and very you Banshee. I don't think I have seen another custom on a pink base. He must display well with the yellow base minis you have, which are probably the best version of those figures I have seen.

 Re: Killer J Sarumon
Actually the circular arms totally remind me of those barrel of monkey toys - and I like that.
I also like the way that a few people dig these toys and collect them because they like them...not for any other reason.
