If anyone hasn't seen it yet, KT has pics of the Xmas figures up- both on the front page and with bigger pics in the company sections.
The Christmas Camguts is freakin' awesome. And the Sunguts tree. How cool is that?
So that's only uh, staying up until 1 a.m. here. Work's gonna be a I FART A LOT that week...

So who's staying up for these this week? I scored a Sunguts set (Camguts, Betaseijin and Betagon- not the tree) this morning.
Debating about the Namegons and curious to see how the Cronic mystery figure looks.

Sorry, not to bump, but Cronic Bakurasu w/ Zuraiasu head is up on the KT.
Damn that's hot. Much better than the colorway on display at WCC. These Christmas exclusives are going to be the death of me.

So apparently it was a secret double-release. The second figure was a green and red colorway of the Bakurasu.
Oh, and they sold out in about 1.5 minutes.

No matter how hard I try to like cronic figs I just cant get into them.
The zurai asu just looks to teenage mutant ninja turtle to me, to me thats not good ... and I thought I may like the new design but after seeing it up close and now painted I dislike it more and more.
I do however like his paint choices, just to bad their on figs I dont like.

Well, the way I see it, very very few figures are consistent masterpieces in both form and paint apps. Cronic is, IMO, one of the best painters out there, especially on clear vinyl. His figures are well sculpted, though I can see how not everyone would dig them.
I would call some of his figures complete masterpieces, such as the 2006 TTF Zyurai Asu. That particular paint app on Zyurai Asu is absolutely perfect for the figure.
Now, take the Skullbrain, one of my favorite SB figures. A lot of the paint and color apps are flat, but then you have the Secreter and Skulletor sets, which I would call masterpieces.
On to the Mantis - Alien Mantis is perfection, though I'm not a fan of most of the other apps.
RxH - I find most of the figure designs outstanding, but many of the color and paint choices lifeless. Some excellent exceptions, such as the Black Chaos, S7 set, etc.
So sometimes it takes just the right recipe to make any figure (which someone might not otherwise like) perfect.
As to the new Cronic KT Zyurai versions, I think they're quite good. About the newest Cronic figure, it's not my favorite. Still waiting for the right color/paint recipe to reveal its full potential.

I can agree with that. A year ago I was curious about SB but didnt like them enough to buy. Then a certain colorway grabbed my eye and the rest is history. It pulled me in and brought me to RxH which is pretty much all I buy now.
I can agree the perfect paint app can give a fig life. Actually with fight figs in general its the paint that makes them, them. Thats to me why they are accepted in so many colorways. Each colorway gives the fig new life and a differnt feel.
The clear cronic zyurai that fanded to black with red eyes was to me by far the best yet. If I'm to buy any of the figs it would be that first.
And like I said I do agree cronic is on point with his paint apps. I would love to see him paint other figs like RxH or Bemon. It would be pretty cool to see what he could come up with.

I agree the fade to clear Zyurai with red eyes is one the best. I've got three Zyurai figures, and that's one of them. The striped figures are also outstanding - a real trademark of Cronic's.
It would be nice to see more Cronic collabs. He recently did something with Gargamel, and he often works with less well known designers. I'd like to see what he could do with a Skull Brain or Mutant Chaos.
