Exactly! They give away too much, and I spend the whole movie going, "oh yeah that was in the trailer." I just want to sit and watch a movie and be surprised.

This is why I enjoy teaser trailers. A trailer that is less than/about a minute with a good voice over should, in theory, get you excited for what you are going to see. If it is this 2-3 minute deal thats when you have to worry about the movie being ruined.

A couple of pretty images shouldn't ruin the experience of the whole movie.

I loved the trailer. It got me super excited. They all have.

I do get this weird feeling that they're going to off Han and it's making me weary. Also, chewy looks hella good for his age. :P

Agreed, although the second one needed more lens flare [/sarcasm]

I'm the exact same way! Good to know there are others out there with will power, patience, and who like to be surprised!

You should watch it. Its just a scene from interstellar cleverly synced with the trailer.

Just watched the second teaser trailer and although good and having some great shots/visuals (which i wont discuss) i think i was more moved/excited for the first one. Maybe just cuz it was the first look? But when the first one dropped i was grinning like an idiot and was like "they did this right" and this one is just more of the same imo. Its still cool and exciting so dont kill me!

Have y'all seen the news about Gareth Edwards' "Rogue One?"

The film takes place just prior to Episode IV. In a milieu of a shortage of Jedi Knights, the story involves a self-organized squadron of rebels against the Empire who manage to steal the plans for the Death Star, delivering a new hope to the rebellion.

Intriguing, although I was expecting something a bit more "stand-alone" and less dependent on established canonical details. Still, it's a cool idea. Felicity Jones is thus far the only confirmed star. In case anyone doesn't remember, the rebel squadron in "The Empire Strikes Back" was named "Rogue Two."

Post Re: Sick of Star Wars
So I am watching the first 6 films in order (which I have never done) to prepare for Episode VII. I watched Episode I for the first time in 12 years or so yesterday. It really is pretty heartless compared to episodes III-VI. I was hoping it would have aged well or something, but everything that even at 13 years old was sort of annoying was almost insufferable as an adult with more developed taste. Midichlorians, Jake Lloyd, and especially Jar Jar were all pretty embarrassing for the franchise. I haven't seen Episodes II and III at all, was pretty done with Star Wars by the time they came out, but really hoping they are an improvement. Anyway, I can't wait to get to A New Hope lol.

Also I take back what I said last page, Episode VII could not possibly be as bad as Episode I.

I, II, III are almost unwatchable. Watch the red letter media commentary about them. It's hilarious.

Its worth it to watch them just to watch those reviews.
Same with indiana jones and the crystal skull, and anything else that guy reviews.

Almost all Red Letter Media videos are fun to watch, but the SW prequels reviews remain the best of all.

Just watched the iTunes release of "Empire Strikes Back." Damn, I'd forgotten what a truly great movie that is, not only in the context of the mythos, but as just plain great cinema. I was never much of a Yoda fan but this time around I really loved him. A shame his personality became so much less likable in the prequels.

^^^ I've never seen the futzed-with ESB. Sound like it's still quite watchable? I'm curious as to how it differs from the "real" version, but don't want to brave the forums to read about it.

I honestly didn't feel like the "specialness" ruined it. It's not as egregious, intrusive and obvious as with Episode IV. I'm a little scared about "Jedi" though. That Haydn Christiansen force ghost is ... um ... unacceptable.

Post Re: Sick of Star Wars
I have been avoiding this thread for spoilers and such, but just have to chime in on a couple things now that I am here.

Firstly, no one, no where, at no time, should EVER watch the prequel trilogy as anything connected to the entire series. If you want to watch it as an example of terrible filmmaking from a period of poor movies, or as some kind of self-torture, then fine. But you would be better off just to skip them altogether.

Secondly, Harmy's DS versions are the way to go. Just binge yourself on the glory of SW, ESB, ROTJ (sorry, I still don't feel the need to refer to episode numbers) and revel in the overall story. Coming from a huge Star Wars nerd, the movies are far from perfect, but they are enjoyable, and for what they were and when they came, they stand up.

As for edits, the fudges in ESB still bother me significantly. I never had the same aversion many people feel toward Jedi, but the changes also made it far worse. It isn't even that the 'fixes' are horrible - and oh yes, they are - but also that they are so glaring. They are poorly done, add nothing, and really don't fit in at all. Whomsoever is to blame should just admit their mistake, apologise, and we can all move on.

Oh, and happy May the 4th.
