I was curious to see if there is any gun collectors here on SB. I have talked to at least one.

I passed my permit test this weekend and wanted to talk fire arms, but I'm not even sure this type of talk is allowed here.

I'm also not speaking foolish child talk, but respected discussions about firearms.

I don't collect guns but I like nerf guns. I remember wanting the bazooka and playing with the nerf bow and arrow.

The last time I went to play laser tag everyone was really intense running around and we were all sweaty by the end haha

On 9/11, the timing couldn't be more appropriate. Exponentially more people die from medical malpractice, tobacco use, obesity, driving drunk, even slipping and falling compared to firearms in the US, so why the ignorant fixation on "gun violence!" Did violence not exist before guns, and do you really believe disarming law abiding firearm enthusiasts will turn criminals into pacifists? Can you not distinguish the difference between someone who wants to harm themselves or harm others and an inanimate object?

Medical Malpractice Deaths range from 44,000 to over 200,000 deaths annually, according to various sources.

According to the CDC, 480,000 people died from smoking tobacco each year from 2005-2009.

Obesity appears to be immeasurable in the full extent of deaths caused.

Tobacco use is regulated.
Drinking is regulated.
Driving is regulated.
Even unhealthy foods are starting to be regulated.

All of the above have primary purposes that don't have ANYTHING to do with killing. Let's not forget that these are just DEATHS, never mind all the horrific injuries that don't result in death.

And you're more likely to kill yourself or a loved one, than you are of "protecting" yourself from all those boogeymen lurking in the shadows.

Wow, this escalated quickly! I think people are forgetting that there are multiple types of guns and multiple uses of guns. It is true that the absence of guns (completely - which at this point is not feasible) would result is many less deaths and injuries daily, although I think many don't understand guns outside of crime, war, home defense, etc. Speaking of violence and suffering, I wonder how many of you are vegetarian or vegan? I am an avid trap shooter, gun owner, and have been a vegetarian for over half my life - and I'm willing to bet that I have caused, or been connected too, a tiny fraction of the suffering of other beings on this planet than many of you commenting here. Just something to consider.

I don't appreciate people going out of their way to turn the gun collector thread into the libtard gun troll thread.
