Officially MOST annoying character right now. I also think his son is annoying too. The daughter that had the bf that turned has been bugging me also. Actually If this show was realistic, that whole family would be dead.

I was only half paying attention at that point but it looked like the same thing people here use when growing stuff like grapes. A friend of mine has the same set up and grows grapes for wine but his backyard is way bigger so it only takes up a little corner.

I find that annoying also, the writers complete avoidance of people arming themselves with even a common rifle. I guess it would be a pretty boring show if one guy with basic skills just sat in his house making headshots.

OK it's not a question of did you enjoy/ not enjoy the episode anymore. It's how fucking piss poor is this writing? You have capable actors its just you make them so so stupid with your lame ass writing attempts. It's hard cramming all of the plots in 46 minutes but can be done way more effectively than this right?

Also Los Angeles is heavily populated. This supposedly time jumps 9 days and is one of many sealed off camps (again they went way too quick with this season 1). If the zombie population grew exponentially to get us to this point where everyone outside these camps is just someone hiding, a walking zombie, or a corpse lying shot in the head you would think Madison's venture outside would have attracted zombies. I guess maybe we don't see how far she gets and the soldiers have cleared the surrounding area, but this is LA zombies would have roamed back.

I'm wondering if mirror reflector survivor (but shot at the end) was that Tobias kid?

I watched the whole episode from beginning to end and actually paid pretty close attention but I honestly have no idea what the hell happened in any of it at all. I just couldn't make sense of it. Like they crammed a dozen slow pointless episodes into one single hour. Or I guess more like 12 minutes if you don't count the commercials. Was the daughter killing herself? Where was she anyway? Was that her reflecting light and getting killed? What rank do you have to reach in the military to get to play golf during a zombie apocalypse? Must be nice getting to kill tons of zombies and living people without having to remove the bodies and burn or bury them because you know in a world where the word "zombie" doesn't exist neither do all the infectious diseases you can get.

Daughter was giving herself a homemade tattoo where the boyfriend drew on her arm before he got bit and presumably turned into a walker off screen. I love how AMC writers like to leave so many good scenes off camera (and just leave it to your imagination) but choose to keep so many filler boring scenes that are useless.

The light reflection was someone (again AMC leaves it to your imagination like always!) presumably someone who escaped the round up by the military and was hiding out in a house. Maybe a few people holed up who knows? Travis watched them get ambushed by the military from the roof at the end. Wasn't the daughter though- she did that at Susan & Patricks house (the next door neighbors- the one zombie asian lady from the last episode with the garden maze). And of course the daughters voice narration at the end was reading Susan's suicide note to Patrick- I mean really, could they have done away with that? How about saving of a few of the home health aide house call scenes, Travis making nice with the douchebag soldiers, or Madison's pointless trip in favor of some of those leave it to your imagination off screen scenes. Pffffttt.

So true!

Ha. Yeah . . . could that army guy be any more one-dimensional? We get it - Army/Bad. People/Good.
The 'hitting golf-balls into once-populated areas' has really become an apocalypse cliché hasn't it?

I wasn't expecting the sneaky junky son to get grabbed, which i should of guessed would happen.

The poor writing reminds me of the original Walking Dead, it can be very patchy, but that doesn't stop me enjoying it.
Also reminds me of 'Lost' - lots of good stuff mixed with a lot of crap but still entertaining enough to keep you coming back.

Don't blame AMC for the writing, blame the franchise that you all continue to pay attention to for some reason! (insert appropriate emoticon.) Sure, the network has funded some shit biscuits, but they've also backed some of the finest entertainments to hit air this past decade. It's all about the particular room and who they hire to fill it.

Nope I still blame AMC, because the series hasn't always been that bad and I've read the source material! AMC has full control over this show so who else would you blame? AMC has a history of mass interference with show runners and maximizing profits with this show as opposed to story telling like they claim. WD was pretty good when Darabont was at the helm and has been hit or miss since. It was also well documented that several key actors that Darabont hired (and had worked with in the past) were conveniently and prematurely written off (i.e. killed off) because of their support for him. I also blame the show's popularity for the dumbing down of the plots to maximize an audience. So yeah you can find fault maybe in people still watching but like I've said before I simply hate-watch the shows and once in awhile get pleasantly surprised. All I do is work on complex modeling/engineering problems, crappy advanced math, papers all week so I need a break from that- and it's about video game quality to me.

So what's the verdict on this episode guys? Could have done away with Alicia & Chris playing dress up and half timed Daniels torture sessions.

Good news is if AMC is as predictable in their writing control as in the past, you know some idiot (probably Daniel) is going to release that Arena zombie horde. Probably will use his wife's death as a catalyst for going nuts. Point being we could lose some people and hopefully annoying ones. AMC begs to have giant zombie hordes in finales.

I like this new guy Strand. What he said to that blubbering idiot was so funny. Don't worry your wife has a hot body she'll latch onto to someone.

How come the military are so dumb that they fail to neutralize the WalkersTM where Michonne could do it in minutes ?!

Hate watched (thanks Lixx!) two episodes in a row and feel physically stupider than I was a few hours ago.

I'm sick of the military always being portrayed as some sort of sinister bad guys. I guess I blame the writers for growing up in families that never knew anybody that served ten minutes in any branch of the military. Always so easy to just make the faceless guys in uniform the bad guys.

Boring...predictable & lame.

...why did they not kill all the zombies in the arena if they are going wild shooting every other living dead thing?

I'll begrudgingly watch the season finale though.

Yeah, i liked that guy . . . hopefully he gets at least a few episodes.

Greasebat wrote:

That really is becoming such a cliché, isn't it.

I have to say, i'm starting to get a little disappointed in this show. The writing can be as lazy as the original.
I was expecting the writers would learn by their mistakes and give us a meaner, leaner story with better acting.
That seemed to be the case initially but now i'm not so sure . . . . i will keep watching but i hope it improves. I think
the acting is better but the writing for the characters is just plain dumb a lot of the time.

Another thing - obviously the hoard of zombies will be let out of the stadium at some point. I would of
much preferred lots more smaller zombie encounters rather than one huge set-piece.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think this spin-off is much too similar to the original to offer anything new?

Also liked Stannis Jr's new jail buddy. Already gets that money/valuables aren't worth anything anymore. Wonder why he was rounded up in the first place?

These last two episodes have been tough to watch. At least the finale is next week and then we jump back to WD, which Im thinking will be a "fun" season.

It's kind of funny, the only person [dennis, the old man] that is aware of whats going is going to end up being the catalyst for the outbreak. Until next week...

Strand looks like a last minute add-on that will cross over in WD somehow in the near future, to fake a semblant of continuity. I only like Nick.

AMC is scraping the bottom of the barrel now. So did you hear about the Flight 462 thing? Remember that plane in the 3rd episode at the end that Nick sees dip in the sky? Well AMC is now airing minute segments telling the tale of that flight (yes zombies on a plane!) and crash each episode of WD season 6. So 16 one minute segments. Apparently there will be one survivor and that character will be added to season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead.

Oh and for any ex military guys or people in general: Do you think those soldiers who came to the rescue of their trapped comrades in the library already had a plan to frag that asshole commander? Maybe they intended to set him up or lucky accident?

Post Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Oh man if that wasn't the most cheese dick convoluted finale in the history of TV I'm not sure what is! From the pied piper beginning to the from here to eternity ending. Wow....

In what world do these things happen?:

1) It's probably a good idea to take these chains off an arena filled with zombies- we can use them as a cover to get our family back
2) OK guess that was a bad move, as we escape lets not pick up all these guns left behind by soldiers or dead soldiers, better yet lets NOT take any of these military vehicles which might be really helpful.
3) It's literally been about a week an a half time wise on the show. LA is abandoned and burning already? Sorry I'm having trouble adding up that exponential zombie growth as well.
4) So these people are the ONLY people in LA ever to think to use the river basin as an escape route? Yeah right.
5) It's been a little over a week but people are fatalistic as ever already. i.e doc killing herself when she could have easily escaped.
6) If in fact LA is already decimated and not even one marauding looter exists, that luxury house seems like a decent place to hang (generators etc)- boat is better if it starts to get over-run but why give up the house when you don't have to yet. Also who parks their yacht so far off shore? How are they getting all those people to it?
7) WTF? So Travis has to kill his ex wife who honestly could have stuck around for a little bit. I mean she just got bit- but these characters are all fatalistic immediately! Anyhow seconds after the gunshot he's by the water clasping wet sand? Did you see that cliff they were on? Did he fucking jump? I saw a little CGI path but c'mon!

1. You are/were Army and can shoot well.
OR
2. You haven't shot with many dudes in the Army.

Either way you land on that, my point is they all aren't great shots.

OR that dude was the best, most squared away pistol marksmen in his division and he meant to just wing her!! WHO KNOWS??

Oh and that episode was the shit, SB is just full of haters.

It's Sunday night in a world where a dude runs his head into a helicopter rotor on fucking television. ON TELEVISION! I'm on my couch with a pitbull and dudes are eating people ON TELEVISION! Pack another bowl ladies, life is good, quitcher bitchin.

Life is good.

SB does have tons of critics who like to share their opinions(positive or negative)on every possible subject.

None of that changes the fact that this particular show is pretty poorly done though. The acting and the writing and the pacing all fall very short. Can you honestly say you felt any emotional connection to anyone in the entire first season of the show? I sure didn't. Yes it's cool to see when "a dude runs his head into a helicopter rotor on fucking television" but that doesn't make the show good. No one has said anything about the special effects not being great but they make up a few seconds or at most a couple minutes of each episode. I have more respect for a show like Z Nation that knows exactly what it is then I do for this family soap opera with a few zombies mixed in for ratings. Saying we don't like it just because we are "haters" is a little silly.
