Re: skullbrain banner... what the flux...
I hereby declare the heated debate on the new thread title, open! I hope that no one is taking these 'suggestions' personally, and I definitely want to give thanks to James for making efforts to improve the board. Sure there is some 'stuck in old ways' aspect of it, which I am guilty of as much as anyone, but I think that such a small change has already generated such feedback just shows how passionate we are about the board. And I think that is really the most positive thing that could be said for Skullbrain. It is that kind of feedback and general love for what goes on here that IS the Skullbrain community. Think on it this way, an outside person coming in and redecorating or painting a home you lived in for a long time would probably come as a shock and be negatively received, even though the changes might be clearly for the better, and in time will be loved just like the old one. It's just the close connection to something that has gradually become part of your life that makes any slight shift in that environment very sensitive.

I'm not really too happy with the 'attitude' any of the three have implied, as, for sure that aspect of it exists on here [unfortunately], but so does an incredibly laid back and fun one just for a love of toys - and that is the side I feel represents my Skullbrain and the reason I keep coming back here. I don't actually know which side is in the minority; nor does it matter that much.
Maybe some people are ruining it for everyone, or maybe the board is just shifting focus. Change is fine I guess, I just like to know what to expect when I come to the board.
*And just for the record, I am self-professed misanthrope and all-around giant curmudgeon, but not when it comes to toys. There is no "my skullbrain" there is only skullbrain. When I came here. I wasn't such a loud mouth. Just a bit of one. But I learnt to listen to the old ways. Its why I liked this place, I learnt things. But those people have quietened or left because there are way too many fkn loud mouths. ( and business favours the quiet ones sometimes) but I digress...So my advice is to quieten...listen to the wind... And stop blowing hot smoke.

Re: skullbrain banner... what the flux...
Sorry, maybe that came out wrong, but I wasn't claiming I have any ownership to Skullbrain or control over what or how goes on here. I meant that in the way of "what Skullbrain means to me," i.e. the way I see it.
I don't think I am loudmouth, but stand to be corrected. I was actually try to make the same point you followed with, that we should look on it as a useful resource, learn our ways around, benefit from the wealth of information here (and the experience of others) and accept it for what it is.

Re: skullbrain banner... what the flux...
I like this simple logo. I wasn't to keen on a logo making itself out to be a pariah.. i don't know if that was like a diversion tactic to ward off the unwanteds but it was contrived. Skullbrain needs no introduction.

Re: skullbrain banner... what the flux...
Sad but true, my day is ruined anew every time I notice the new banner. At least it's only EVERY SINGLE TIME I SWITCH PAGES!!! Pop that logo in the corner and I can at least kinda ignore it... Time to install that script, I guess. edit: GONE! Problem solved. Sorta.

Ultrakaiju you seem like a nice guy. Hell near most people on here are and I don't mean to single out as a loudmouth. Though I do disagree with a few things you've said and I kow you like ya kaiju. Its just I miss the older sb, it had its ways and one followed or got shut down. It was their place. It seems now, with the new influx, older opinions and personalities have been quashed by dozens of over zealous noobs, and the style and character of the place has changed. ultrakaiju wrote: I meant that in the way of "what Skullbrain means to me," i.e. the way I see it. My point isn't ownership maybe analogous too... there's the way we see it and there's the truth.

Being the ludite that I am I prefer the old banner, not so much from a design point of view, but the Old Banner is much more work safe, when you are trying to read, while "working" Mostly black = mostly clandestine!
