Serious question: do you like anything?

Serious answer: Yes,
Qualifier: There is so much more I hate about the world though, not just TV shows/people. I've never had much patience and that old saying "you just have to accept that's the way things are" I refuse to comply with. Putting it mildly I subject myself to absolute misery (not always willingly) so the few things I like I just love and appreciate that much more. Make sense?

Hey, I'm with ya on leaning towards the misanthropic side of the spectrum! Just seems like all these things that we supposedly do for pleasure, you take no pleasure in.

I use to be hugely critical of movies/TV shows/etc, but over time came to the viewpoint that they're all going to have issues and plot holes - characters will do stupid, unreasonable things that no normal person would ever do because it moves the story. Sure, that's not great writing but it's just a fact of writing fiction. If I get enjoyment out of a show I can now look past those things. Of course there are times that I can't look past them - FTWD! But even in that case I was still able to be entertained by it, and complaining about its horribleness was part of the fun. So perhaps that's where you're coming from too? It just seems from your posts that you have pure hatred and rage towards the things that are suppose to be your entertainment.

That season on the farm was like 7 lifetimes all by itself.

Yeah I see what you guys are saying, and old me probably would have blown a gasket by now and declared this a passive aggressive attempt to get me going but I see it's not. I just live in my own world, not yours so it's just my perspective. In my mind I'm the best writer in the world so I have every right to critique subpar writing on the show! I'm not obviously but I just see so many angles and ways this show could actually be scary. And that's what I'd love to feel again, tension or at least being engaged in the show via "what would I do?" The zombies aren't scary at all, just cannon fodder easily dispatched, the villains are cartoonish, and I can't relate to the motivations of any of the characters. I think the closest I came was Shane before they started writing him crazy in the second half of season 2.

I never said I didn't enjoy all 6 seasons of Walking Dead. I've enjoyed the earlier seasons till about mid season 3. I might have complained about season 2 looking for Sophia ( not the actual looking- the dilemmas) but in hindsight it was pretty good, cast was much better and there was a ton of tension, and what would you do moments.

I watch now because it's like Lost, had to see this thing to completion. I'm not a fanboy so I can critique if I want to damn it. I have a ton of stress going on in my life right now so sounding off on a show is therapeutic.

I miss Shane. Even at his craziest he was never even half as brutal as Rick is now. Not even close. Or even as brutal as Carol who murdered and burned their friends cause they got sick and executed a little girl for being crazy. Shane was a good balance of doing what needed to be done but still being really human. He became what he needed to be so much faster then everyone else that he seemed insane.

Could not have said it better myself! Shane just kicked fucking ass. He was the best defender against threats to the group. Even if they did not realize at the time. Was written off as a plot device to harden Rick way too early IMO. To get him all hung up on beanpole and off kilter was disappointing. Imagine if he lived and went off with others as a second group?

Wasn't killing Shane off an early example of staying true to the source material? Or at least veering back to it - the character was much more fleshed out in the television series if I'm remembering things right.

Yeah it was, and yes TV Show Shane was fleshed out much more than Comic Shane. However, AMC made a bit of a fuss about how they were not going completely stay true to the comic and the show would vary things. I was hoping they would apply this to Shane but did not. I suspect politics from behind the scenes drama in season 2 were also some of the factors that lead to his demise (that and they needed to evolve Rick). Jon Bernthal was really phenomenal as Shane though. That's why it was sad to see him go. Many of the actors/characters since him have been pretty wooden and boring.

While I can't disagree with your comment on the villains (ugh, the governor!) I don't have an issue with the change in attitude towards the zombies. At first they were "scary" because they were something never seen before and the characters were constantly in fear for their lives. But the more they've dealt with them they've learned that they're something that can be dealt with and their fear has lessened or disappeared. They've been living this life for so long now it's the new norm, so it's natural that they'd just be part of the landscape rather than something to be feared. Rick has come around to see that people are the true threat to their safety.

I agree totally. I always saw real old school zombies as the most interesting type of monster just because they are so survivable. Makes it so much easier to put yourself in those scenarios and imagine what you'd do in those peoples places. Even in The Night of The Living Dead the woman realizes what they are dealing with and says "They are so slow, we can just walk right by them." but everyone is too busy being racist and stupid to listen. I have no respect for movies that use olympic athlete zombies at all. It just annoys me that people die and get FASTER afterwards and there really is no way to realistically survive against those things. I like slow zombies because generally you have to make a mistake to get killed. Way more interesting that way.

Again not sure if this is directed at me but I also love slow moving Romero type zombies. I loathe fast zombies with super human powers. I never said the contrary.

You can make them scarier by not instantly have anything pierce their skull -dead or not this isn't easy to penetrate a skull with broom handles or other things. Second, every fucking character usually escapes them despite vast numbers and hardly anyone is bit. I'm sorry this is also an unbelievable scenario. Bring in realism where people get trapped despite that they no longer perceive them as a threat, regardless whether they are cocky and careless or not.

When I said not even scary anymore this is what I meant- not lets make the zombies fast. Having them in the background 24-7 as things to kill that die instantly is sort of dumb IMO.

Wasn't directed at you at all. I should have been more specific. It has forever bothered me that no one wears armor in the damn show. Even just covering their necks and forearms and lower legs would have saved most of the people who died by zombie. You don't even need decent supplies. Duct tape and paper would do the trick.

And yeah I agree that the zombies are way too squishy. It reminds me of From Dusk Til Dawn when Sex Machine was saying how the vampires are so soft so even a little girl can drive a stake through their heart easily which would be impossible if they were hard like humans. Walking Dead zombies are like marshmallows.

Yeah, the ease with which they're able to push a knife through someone's skull is unrealistic. Perhaps if it was a really old zombie de-calcification and rot could be used to explain that away, but they also have effortlessly slipped knives into skulls of freshly dead comrades, so...

But again - it's a minor detail. Yes, it'd be very easy to correct this mistake, but IMO it doesn't detract enough from the show to matter...and using more force wouldn't noticeably improve the show. If anything these issues are just making me more prepared for the zombie apocalypse - when a character does something stupid I think to myself "That's stupid, if I'm ever in this situation I'll do that differently." :)

Nah he isn't dead I don't think. If you look closely you can see the zombies are tearing apart the guy who landed on top of him. Otherwise they would be pulling entrails out of Glenn's upper chest which makes no sense.

Agreed Glenn didn't die, Nicholas being a dumb ass by killing himself, falling on top of Glenn probably saved him. Walking Dead might not show Glenn for an episode or two just to try and get people to think he's dead, but we know better. Guarantee he makes it by getting under the dumpster somehow, rides it out until a distraction come along. Like Enid or something.

Oh and last night's episode did not suck

Post Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
he's clearly not dead... i was pissed that folks on FB and IG on the east coast had to throw a spoiler before it aired on the west coast... so i sit there watching and im sad at whats coming... then i see the way it goes down, and im like UM, He's not dead. Why can't you people read through the lines. They see him fall, guts, etc and think hes done... um you saw his homie fall on top of him. lol. Guarenteed Glenn isn't dead. I feel Judith, Glenn, and Maggie represent hope in the group. Judith is the next generation that can start if they make it through this. Glenn and Maggie represent that companionship. They are the 2 in the core group that are together... shit last season half of it was spent them looking and searching for one another.

I dont care if Glenn is dead or not to be honest, he was never a favorite of mine. It sounds like many people
believe he's gonna survive, although i fail to see how crawling under the dumpster would do any good. I personally
thought that was it, for him. It was his own fault for relying on Mr. Numb-Nuts for directions in an extremely tight
situation . . . not a good call.

The thing i thought was distracting was how close one of the fences was to the dumpster. There doesn't seem to be
any zombies on that side. Surely they would of at least had a go at jumping for it?

Other than that bit, i thought it was a really good episode. These first three episodes of the new season have totally
rejuvenated my interest in the Walking Dead . . .

As soon as they ran into the alley I was thinking okay fire escape time. A million zombies or just ten makes no difference if there is only room for one at a time.

I kept thinking when they ran down that alley, well the zombies move slow and were way behind them. Dumpster had wheels right? Could they not have rolled it together to a part of a fence that didn't have hundreds of zombies on the other side waiting for them? Hell they could have even used their shirts or jackets to get over the barbed wire part of the fence.
