Ach! As I was just telling a friend, as excited as I am to see that some toy love is finally being placed in the direction of one of my favorite films, my beloved Tiva is a bit of a disappointment. She's not overly realistic looking, but a little bit of vintage paunch would go a long way to please me! You can really tell that she was digitally rendered rather than sculpted by hand. My revised fantasy is that Bear Model will set their sites on the license! A boy can dream.

That said, I'm looking forward to seeing what other characters and creatures will be produced for the line, and I wish I had the scratch to shell out right now so that I could be underwhelmed by Tiva in person, ha! I'm really curious to see the box art, too.*Oms, collars and knowledge transmitters sold separately.

I feel in a similar way about their Cobra figure. The only way I can think to describe it is that It's just a bit too clean looking (for me anyway). Not that it's a new feature among toys, but yeah, digital sculpting can make it easy to get this look, depending on what program is being used and how they're formed. Though handmade will always be handmade.

I think Tiva looks better than the caricature-ish Cobra line but at least with Cobra, there's more options, including a nice vintage popy vinyl figure with removable arm that I'm after. It'd be great to see toys that compliment the styling of the original animation a bit better, but it's nice to see FP finally getting the toy treatment.
