Of course you can sell where ever you want, just as you can flip whatever for however much you want.
Flippers wouldn't exist if there weren't people to pay for it.
The argument of "but he started at .99" is amateur hour, c'mon dude!
If I took each piece in my collection and listed them for .99 each, I would make out like a bandit! As would most people here. But I thought that was frowned upon around here... :?
I'm just bringing attention to it and expressing my disappointment and frustration.

In other news, :P I just stumbled upon this crazy gif and couldn't find any other info on it. I was hoping it was some crazy film but I think it's just an old film someone manipulated!

I think theres a difference from making a profit and flipping. You are leting the market dictate the price, thats art for you. Sure its not super cool but its not totally uncool... Haha

so crazy how that pink one is already up to about $200 after shipping.. wow, some serious foolio's out there with Kumon fever.

also, I think the .99 cents argument is pretty valid to be honest.. I'd rather see that then just listing it for $200 straight out the gate and looking like an asshole from the get go..

don't hate the player as they say..

Starting at .99 is great cause you get a bunch of views and watchers and then you can just shill bid the crap out of it up to $200 or so. Then you have a whole week for a real person to place a bid and hopefully win.

I don't care so much about his flipping. I'm more annoyed by how he was privately DMing me (and I'm sure everyone else) about a month ago to see if we had any kumon for sale.

Damn. That's flipping at it's worst, for sure; to take directly from the collector then turn and sell as an open auction.

I regularly don't have a problem with $ 0.99 auctions (I know how it seems, but they can go both ways), but there's no questioning that he had a specific motive in mind.

Has he been banned yet? Hopefully no one here sold to him.

Ha, I immediately wanted to know what film it was from too. I likes it.

I think people jump to this way too fast around here lately. no one even knows the story of why he's selling and if he didn't buy any off people recently just to sell, then he's not even flipping.

This. There's clearly risk involved in the .99 tactic, but when you know they will sell for flipper prices it becomes a lousy excuse. There have been very few, if any, kumon to sell on ebay for non-flipper prices. Oh I had no idea that gorilla ju would sell for $3000, I started it at $0.99!

I'm a bit surprised by so many people quickly jumping to defend making money/profiting/flipping/blahblahblah on these toys (but glad to see a few chime in to the contrary). Even toys bought from this board? I'm hoping its a minority sentiment. If not, then why not allow bidding type sales here? Get that money I guess

Again, semantics really. Let's call it "coming to the defense of a person who is flipping/profiteering/whateveryouwannacallittomakeitsoundmorelegit

I don't bother suggesting bans anymore, especially since that rarely happens here even for truly disgusting behavior.
And I would contend that repeated flipping on here, despite moderator warnings/interventions would be the only ban related to flipping/profiting/ugh this is getting tiresome.
People are welcomed to do as they please with their toys elsewhere, and here we are welcome to make snarky comments calling them out for it!

This was simply an informative announcement for those who have been hit up for toys from him and/or will be in the future. But I do think suggesting a retirement from this community is in order for flippers and others who seem to abuse the generosity and fellowship of this board.

Calm down. People tend to jump to conclusions too fast around here lately. ;)

There's no hidden meaning in why I was asking. Has he? I don't know who he is, if he has, or is even still a member.

If this did happen and he's still romping around these parts, I would think he'd most certainly be banned if anyone that might've sold him 1 of these Kumons & now sees it on ebay reports him. It's not like he'd be flipping from a sale purchase, but from directly contacting board members. Being a part of the community to take advantage of the community should be the #1 reason not to want someone around.

I think more or less, everyone here would agree with you.

I'll be interested to hear if any of these "sb Kumon sellers" come forward to validate the claim. For all we know he got the Kumon(s) he wanted from the pm inquiries and is selling off the rest. In that case, although annoying, if he got bites, it's kinda smart to get the pieces you're looking to be part of your collection.

Post Re: KUMON
I sold him two of the eBay listed ones sometime last year to gain extra skrill to help my parents pay off some debt for Christmas. I sold a handful of stuff that meant a lot to me, but helping minimize the debt was more important. The orange/blue marble is currently $7 over than what he bought both for. It's honestly saddening for me to see, but much like I once sold 'em for what I consider a legitimate reason, he could potentially be doing the same.

Good point, Robert, and I'm sorry you had to sell yours too, bud.

Yeah, there's a big difference between a year and a month. There may be recent cases, but at least that's not exactly a straight turn around flip.

Was surprised to see this as I haven't been on much these last few months.

I was contacted by Cieromuco a few days ago telling me how sorry he was that he was going to sell his Kumon collection as something very bad had happened to him, he was also selling his car and many other things by the sound of it. He has only ever been very polite and supportive of what I do and I just hope whatever trouble he is having clears up soon.

Honestly, I think it was incredibly courteous of him to have reached out to you personally. It's a bit of a catch 22 that it's good he's not flipping, but very unfortunate he fell on hard financial struggles. Best of luck to him, as he's always been super nice to me in PM's, and very complimentary towards my photos.

Thank You for chiming in with the enlightenment, Shirahama.

Agree with the points above. Personally I think it's none of our business how, where, when, or for how much someone wants to sell their toys unless we are sure beyond the shadow of a doubt they are opportunistic flippers/bad actors taking advantage of other members' good will. Otherwise it can end up being baseless speculation that does no one any good.

Post Re: KUMON
This conversation quickly drifted far from cieromuco's actions into a discussion on flipping.
I sincerely hope that cieromuco recovers from his troubles soon. It sounds like he is having a rough time :(

It's too bad that he may not have realized how supportive this community can be to those fallen on hard times or in crises. If he would have come back to the same community who helped him acquire the collection, he would have likely been met with much generosity!

My intention was not sully anyone's reputation or make baseless speculations, but rather to simply state the facts...which still remain facts

I am not condemning him for his decision to go this route, simply making note of it, hoping to not see him so aggressively trying to rebuild his collection in the future from fellow board members.

P.S.
Unrelated statement to those arguing about flipping...
If you want to do whatever the fuck you want with your toys and be left alone about, fine...just do it elsewhere (meaning excuse yourself from this community or at least don't acquire toys from here). It's really not that hard! Its a community with certain expectations, so if you're here, those expectations are for YOU!

Sorry this became such a digression. Now let's get back to anticipating the arrival of those glittery halloween friends!
