I'm voting for Shugaron too. The head bulbs are the right size and the weird neck line looks more appropriate.

I can't claim to be familiar with either of these guys' story arcs, but that busted eye on Shugaron is pretty compelling in toy form. 8)

Just received the latest Dustman and saw the Spectreman header for the first time. Since they are on the header, does this mean a butanohana version of Dr. Gori and Norman? Hope springs eternal!

Well, this header debuted in 2005 and we've gotten...

ONE of them!

^^ it looks exactly the same as far as i can tell.
It says on their site that its an exclusive to them and limited to 100.
Anyone know if its a variant..?
Maybe just a reissue for them?

I think it's the exact same except for the Newbury Comics sticker. I think a lot of US retailers got "exclusives" of the previously released Godzilla Wars figures. I think all it really means is that they are the only US source for said figures.

Post Re: New Butanohana
That is my interpretation as well. This is the same figure as the other Medicom release, but their tacking on of "Exclusive" ( ) is merely a reference to the fact they were - as far as they know - the sole US retailer to get access to a grouping of these. Further tacking on the "Limited Edition" number is just bollocks, and extra grab for the 'collector's' market and not even accurate, and while I think it is great they have them for sale, I think this more than steps in to the bounds of misleading advertising. Still, ramble, ramble, ramble it is a nice toy, and happy to see it available in a new retailer.

All I can say is WOWSER. This exceeds even my lofty expectations, and even for a Buta figure. Amazing. :D That photo lineup is the stuff toy dreams are made of.

I was a bit disappointed to notice that Dustman's lower body was a re-use of Silver Robo's with only minor tweaks, but I must admit Buta proves its talent again with Spin Cobra. Stunning

Well, the thing is, Silver Robo's actual costume on the show heavily reused the Dustman suit in its construction; so it makes total sense that toys of the two would have any number of similarities. The awesome part about Oohashi-san's take is that he created two entirely distinct sculpts that reflect the recycled aspects of the 'real world' monsters while showcasing the differences between the final products as well:

Pics by a friend.

So much cooler to me than the standard sofubi trick of just popping a different head on the same body and calling it something new.

edited a careless misspelling.

Ah! So he's finally getting back to these 'forgotten' Return of Ultraman beasties:

I was beginning to give up hope.

Are you really sure about that ? I checked some pics and could not jump to this conclusion... Dustman's legs do not have anything like fins at the back if I remember well.
I need to watch the show again to be sure.
So maybe Silver Robo reused Dustman's suit but certainly not the other way round. And it looks like Buta-san just chopped Silver Robo's pants to save some sculpting time.

Great stuff. A wealth of beautiful toys available there, for anyone lucky enough to get in on this drop. It is kind of sad that I am becoming more and more resigned to just accepting not getting in on them, when Buta is continually putting out so much excellent stuff that is right up my alley.

I was wondering if Spin Cobra would have legs, the previous group shot kept some secrets.
This will be a change from the Parababy version which was pretty amazing already.
I love the paint on Buta's.

Sooo any guesses who this irresistable ape babe is? Could it be a Zodiac themed release? Somewhat buta-ish nostrils too. :P

Anyone want to edumacate me on the significance of the orange altar piece?

I got the mini Ultraman and Spincobra this week and just love them. Ultra is very classic, and spinny more of a Miyazaki style monster rather than a tokusatsu one to me. Works very well. 8)
