I agree with you on that, and i wasn't faulting him for that. I was merely a little curious about why he and a few others were selling these just released Gogas in the past few weeks and it seemed a bit strange me.

The Rare/Sought after toy factor that some collectors buy into doesn't hold for these releases and once they realise that after getting them in hand they end up being resold for less than retail. Same thing happened with the Zollmen open orders.

I'm looking at these releases as more of an entry point for fans that haven't been able to drop serious money on toys they have never been able to see in person (myself). If you are hooked from Anraku lite chances are you will be able to justify paying more for some early AA painted by the man.

I completely second that. Those releases are an amazing opportunity to get toys that were completely out of reach so far. Painting may not be up to the standard of the original releases, but of what I see so far, we are not talking about ruined toys either. Maybe this is like comparing HP and FP Bemons.
So those might be disappointing for the hardcore collectors who already delved into AA (and can actually compare), but who can argue Medicom isn't already doing a tremendous job with those releases ?
The master working tightly with Medicom on this, I am confident they are not betraying his ideas nor his style.

I want those toys for their design, originality, what they represent in the sofubi history, not to expose my riches ( ) to the world.

And as a matter of fact, I quite like the heavy paint app on the Cambodia. I hope it will be as good on the final product. But it seems I am the only one who thinks that.
And I am stunned by the big brown Venus/Sasakamabikuchi.

Totally agree with you PlasticXO. I have collected Anraku for a while but I love the preorders as well,
and have not been disappointed so far in the slightest when I receive them. Even in situations where I prefer Anraku's original paints I think the preorders are a phenomal opportunity to add to my collection, and I plan to order as many as I can. It feels like Christmas every month with these preorders :P

I collect AA for the sheer love of his designs, not for the exclusivity factor.

^Me too! My paint jobs were spot-on. Very different feel for an Anraku toy but I like them. Smaller than I assumed but a perfect size for the sculpt. Extra parts included are fun. The vinyl is on the soft side.

I would love to see Anraku and Blobpus do another collab with the help of Medicom, replete with wooden box. That still ranks as probably my favorite collaboration ever. Another mini Goga/Blob combo would be incredible.

Or maybe a mini Dako/ Dead Stocker combo done up on black glitter infused vinyl.

Anxiously awaiting my shipping confirmation from TAG. :P

The paint application on my Zollomedear is top notch IMO. I've appreciated this character through images for quite some time, but now that I actually have one in my possession I must say, I feel pictures don't do this toy justice. The altering landscape of textures throughout are just wonderful. I really hope to see another release by Medicom in the future.

Given the ease of access and affordability I can say I'm satisfied with my Goga, but as others have mentioned concern here, the tail is a slightly awkward fit, and I would have preferred they not use a mask for the mouth.

Overall this has been exciting having the opportunity to purchase these toys stress free at a reasonable price.

Maybe I don't have as discerning an eye as others but I don't see any problems with the paint on the Anraku figures I've received so far. The 2 Gogas are beautiful and mine have no issues with the tail or other joints - the fit may be even better than the OG Gogas some of which have a tendency to lean forward. The pink/red/black Dako I just received is beautiful - a very hefty figure and the paint scheme is awesome. I saw an OG Dako with a somewhat similar paint scheme for sale online for around $1400 and I'd much rather have this one for $140. My only regret is that I bought the Gogas from an overseas buyer and paid way too much. Now I'm ordering everything from Lulubell.

I'm lucky enough to have a original and would say the biggest difference is the spray is thicker on the new Dako and the gold is more of a bronze. It's not bad...just a little different.

I tried taking a pic with my phone, but it doesn't help much.

If you were standing in line with them then the one on your left would be to the right in the picture unless you were standing to the left of the one on the right then he would be to your right which is the one to the right in the photo. Got it?

This release seems to leave everyone completely indifferent.

And unfortunately I think it is justified. This is a very plain dragon...
The only appeal is that it looks like it could be a classic D&D monster.

Or am I missing something ?

They have this old Imperial Toys kinda feel to them, which I do like... but not for what they will sell for. Just not unique enough for me to warrant the price.
