Who cares? I think they're fishing, not flipping. Most of those toys are almost 10 years old and at those prices, I don't know who's buying. Probably no one. I almost feel bad for them wasting their eBay fees.

Not sure if it was the same seller, but I saw an Ojo Rojo micro for "$250 or best offer". I laughed loud and uncontrollably.

That seller pisses me off too, they have an M1 Egg I want in so-so condition that Mandarake sells sealed for $100 listed for like 550 USD.
akum6m is right. None of it will sell. Unless you had someone completely new to the hobby with more money than sense. But then it still wouldn't sell, b/c none of what they are selling is hyped.
I bet they could be talked down on a lot of those items, who knows.
Some of these hobby stores on ebay, the ones with the truly nonsensical pricing, are actually operating on consignment. So the price isn't always dictated by the consignees. Rather, the outside party sets it, and they're usually setting it sky high.
Yeah, there are quite a few sellers/shops like that, both inside and out of Japan, and my assumption is that it is fishing too, more than anything else. Frankly I don't see the point, but whatever, doesn't really matter either. Like you mentioned, the only thing about it that might stick in my craw from time to time is that they have toys which, while unhyped and totally not rare, a lot of use would like to buy, but instead they will just be sitting in some warehouse somewhere for years and years. And I have definitely seen items sit like that.
There is quite a bit of this going on though, and it is certainly not confined to that one ebay seller. I am sure most of us know by now a lot of the standard 'names' for people who are looking to unload 'rare' [cough, cough] Japanese toys through ebay. None of it affects the market in the end, for anyone who is informed, and it is more a chuckle than anything. But the one thing that does tick me off about this behaviour is that there is fully the possibility that someone who doesn't know comes along one day, and for whatever reason does buy one of these items. In this case, it makes me sad because someone gets ripped off, but also because it is justifying this whole behaviour. While some might say, fine, ignorance can be taken advantage of, I have to point out that in certain special cases a lot of people here might have SOs or family members who might try one day to go out of their way to surprise one of us with a special toy we might like. And, being unfamiliar with the hobby, these very well-meaning people can be easily taken advantage of. I know this can happen because it has. And THAT is something that I cannot abide. Good people trying to do really a nice thing by buying a gift for a person they care about and showing their support for something they like, get ripped off for their efforts. Not cool, and it makes me angry. Try to inform your family about normal/reasonable spending limits for the stuff you like, because not everyone out there in the toy world is as cool as SBers.
That seller has a "stock" that is pretty identical to One-up's online inventory...and I'm sure there's poor saps out there who will spend 10x the $ on eBay not knowing how easy it is to buy international from One-up the thought that it was one-up crossed my mind for a second but realized it was likely a "buyer service" but man are those prices idiotic even for that

I know the real world is pretty silly sometimes, and people have a lot of serious things on the go, and that worrying about dumb toys is just a pointless exercise and waste of time. But nevertheless, here we are. So, fuck.

I'm with you wholeheartedly on this one. My boyfriend's friend's fiance's mother (or I can just say my friend, because we've become really buddy-buddy over Facebook even though we live far apart) just died recently. Thankfully she lived long enough to see her daughter say "I do" to the proposal, and the hospital staff even staged a mini wedding-reception for her since they knew she wouldn't make it long enough to see her daughter get married.
It makes all my problems right now seem small in comparison, but I guess that's a good thing... it puts things in perspective. Still though, fuck cancer. Fuck cancer for taking away decent human beings, members of our families, people we love.

a friend and great guy just went through months of chemo and then yesterday was his whipple procedure to remove pancreatic cancer, only to be cut open, sewn up and brought out of anesthesia and told sorry, your cancer is inoperable and has spread to your abdomen. He isnt even barely 35 yrs old.
and last night, he and his wife had to break the news to their 2 little girls.
FUCK YOU CANCER, and FUCK YOU MONSANTO. You and your evil cohorts are the reason there are more and more cancers popping up. Ever wonder why they wear those biohazard suits when ''spraying'' the corn? If its so safe, why the suit?
never mind, go back to fucking sleep. the end is nigh..

I think I have mentioned this before, but we really ought to have a dedicated F cancer thread, because it is just a massive piece of shit, and our little whiny toy complaints and FWPs (myself included) demean the whole thing, sitting next to them. But I also don't want to make anything about cancer, because fuck that asshole.
Cancer and its mutations can fuck right off back to the primordial ooze to have never existed at all.
I am really sorry to hear about your friend, Tony.

Fuck teachers and professors who can't post grades and fuck universities and colleges for 'allowing' this to happen without reprisals. I graduated, but whether or not my degree is conferred and I actually get my diploma is based on one lazy teacher who (and lets be honest she had trouble working basic powerpoints during lecture) is either too lazy to do her job or can't figure out basic things like how to post grades to the university HUB system.
WTF? To make it worse it seems the burden and responsibility is shifted to me to chase this person as I called the registars office and they hot potatoed me to the dept office and wanted nothing to do with it. There I found out she did not post any grades for the entire class (which was a relief to me because maybe some of these kids will speak up but I'm not holding my breath). I asked the secretary what can be done and they said oh we can try an email her? I said I've emailed her three times and did not get a response, what makes you think you will? How about someone make a call? Worst part is she is deaf as the class was ASL102 and it's probably factoring into why no one wants to call but they have services that do it.

Re: F**K YOU thread again
Curb is always my reference point because I feel my life mirrors Larry's at times -albeit without being a millionaire and living in LA from a successful TV show, so just the part where everyone gives him shit 24-7 when he means well.
Anyhow I completely lost my rag on the phone with the University today and went to scary Chris mode, where I start cursing (fuck that kindness shit when no one can do their job- I believe I said "Someone needs to light a fire under this teachers ass so she gets into gear and submits the grades for fuck's sake!") and finally was transferred to speak to my personal degree auditor who assured me it would not be a problem at all. She agreed -complete BS and teachers never realize the position they put students in when they don't submit grades. We'll see if she was just trying to appease me and get me off the phone or it really works out.
Oh and obviously this dilemna is small potatoes to Mecha's- BIG FUCK YOU TO FUCKING CANCER!
Not to keep going on about it, but the bottom line here is that teachers (not only them, a lot of other people 'in authority' as well, but let's stick to the subject at hand) don't realise how much power/influence they actually have over people's lives. I mean, some do of course, and there are phenomenal folks out there sharing knowledge, but there are others who see it merely as "a job" which is not what it should be at all. The things you{they} do have serious repercussions on the students. Your actions actually can fuck people over, for life in some cases, so I just wish that some of them could take it more seriously sometimes and act responsibly. It is just someone coming in to your shop to buy a loaf of bread; these people (students) have a lot invested in this, and there is direct consequences to them by your actions. Anyway, all of this is neither here nor there, and hope you get your grades sorted Lixx, just saying I get where you are coming from.

Sorry for your loss man, I just lost my sister to cancer a few weeks ago. She went through all the chemo stuff for about a year. It seemed she was getting better but in the end yeah. I can't say we can blame monsanto for this one, but they are total bastards. Apparently they can sue a small time farmer if one of their seeds ends up in the farmers crop.

Wow, I am very sorry to hear that Emanuel. You have my deepest sympathies. It is so unfortunate that there are few of people in today's world who have not been touched personally by cancer. My condolences to you and your family, and I hope that our little world here can offer you some support in this difficult time.

Re: F**K YOU thread again
I feel a bit silly for posting about something trivial after all these cancer stories, but alas, this is my only place to properly vent.
FUCK YOU EBAY GUY. I've been selling off my java ferns from my aquarium since my fish all kicked the bucket. Been making $5 or so a week, which is barely a drop in the proverbial bucket, but it's something. (eBay is a butt and only the 7 day option is free to list, so 7 days it is) So then this dude messages me "how much for all of them" I nearly crap my pants! I can finally sell all these stupid plants at once instead of week by week! I tell him I'll count out all the clusters I have and get back to him with a special wholesale price. Late at night I take each cluster out, pull the gravel out of the root systems, collect and count them out (14 clusters), take my starting bid ($3.99, they usually sell between that and $5) and lower the price to $3.75, but then round down to a total of $50. Completely fair price. Maybe even too generous seeing that most of these clusters have more than the 5 leaves I advertised. I send him the price, tell him I won't go lower. "How tall are they" "6-11 inches tall" "How about 40" NO. I SAID I WON'T GO LOWER. (Said more politely) "Can they fill up a 55 gallon tank" (What in the bloody hell, does this guy even know what a Java Fern is) "Probably not but they grow fast." "No thank you"
Thanks fuckwad for wasting my life over a period of 36 hours with your pointless correspondence. I could have relisted my damn ferns. Jokes on him though, I relisted a cluster and got a bid within an hour. And they're damn good ferns.

There's always behind the scenes stupidity with ebay.
I wonder how many non-paying auction wins occur everyday? Or time-wasters?

Re: F**K YOU thread again
...I didn't make 50 bucks, I'm back to listing each cluster individually at a rate of one per week. It's tedious and barely worth my time, but better than selling them to that asshat for $2.85 each like he wanted.
Also, right now I'm unemployed since I'm pretty much disabled, AND my new insurance won't cover my much-needed anti-migraine pills, so every bit I make off of selling silly plants means a lot to me.
Oh, another rant, fuck you USA's health insurance. Big time. I can't pay for my Zomig (anti-migraine) and tomorrow I find out if I can even afford my migraine PREVENTATIVE. So happy fuckadoodle doo

Re: F**K YOU thread again
^ Too tired for a proper rant, but know that I can relate: I've spent the last two days - in a truly inspiring amount of pain - with a right ankle the size of a grapefruit, and, thanks to some epic clerical fuck-ups from my HMO, can't do a thing about my useless and inflamed appendage until June 1st! Unless, of course, I want to incur thousands of dollars in debt.
