B side: Secret Base location (clean version)
Shall we start again? And this time let's just talk about the location and how hard it is to find it. If you wanna keep bitching stay on the other thread.

Good luck with this. I'd love for someone to post directions or a map!

I checked the "access map" on SB's site, but it still has directions to the old shop. Whether this is a second location or whether they moved is a very good question.

There's a phone number for the store. You could call and ask how to get there from Hachiko.

Does GPS work for streets in Japan?

GPS works in Tokyo, but you gotta have the latest gadget.
My question is this:
When I'm in Tokyo in a few months, I'd like to hit a few spots like this to shoot some pics, say hello, etc...
But would the SB store actually have anything for sale, or do flippers snag every last piece of plastic on the shelves?

I just thought of something. At Tokyo station (and probably some other large rail stations) there's a service desk that can print out a map of any address in Tokyo. All they need is the street address. I did this some 4-5 years ago when looking for Magic Box, and the print out they gave me was excellent. I believe there's a website that can accompish this as well. I'll try to locate it and will post it.
Finding an address without a map or directions is extremely difficult, as street names and addresses are set up in a rather unique way.

They may have a few figures for sale. I picked up a couple of mask rangers the last time I was there. My GF's friend happened to be in Tokyo just after the GID Skull Pirate was released, so I was lucky to get the last one that way as well.
They're really friendly. Tell them you're visiting from overseas. Might help a bit!

copy and paste 渋谷区神宮前3-27-17
in http://maps.google.co.jp/
It's accurate to nearest street. The station to the left is JR harajuku. Now you just need teleporters to get there.

They usually have something for sale but unless you hit it on the right day it might not be something you want. I scored the art toyz set and a rainy day pirate last week. Not on the top of my hit list but good enough when you get to pay Tokyo prices for stuff.

thanks.
I'm looking forward to just being able to point to something on the shelf and say, "I picked that one up at Secret Base in Tokyo"... that sort of thing.
cheers

Thanks for that. Very helpful. We've used it to find and print the exact location. The other site I tried is mapion.co.jp. It can't zoom in nearly as well as the Google maps.
Incidentally, we had a look at the news blurb on SB's front page (which is an image, so we can't run it through a translator). Our Japanese isn't perfect, but from what we can gather, SB is MOVING to the new location, not opening a second store. Can anyone in Tokyo (or who has good Japanese reading skills) confirm that?
