I'm not a RxH fan (particularly) but I really like that figure. I agree, the leather eye patch is the icing on the cake.

Thanks for the photos.
Exohead is the most exciting of the bunch to me.
They are really cranking it up with the Skull Rex toys and now this one.

Skulltoys stuff looks great too.

RxH collab seems too close and copycat to the Skullpirate.
Sculpt seems less exciting to me than the new organ bat, maybe if it was painted.
Wish the eyepatch was molded and not some leather or fabric.

Couldnt agree less !

I think this kills the skullpirate :)

The leather eye patch is what sold me. Its about time RxH released a skull head figure.

cant wait till mine is in hand. And after reading this thread and just learning it was a secret makes it even that much sweeter :)

Dude, you're completely biased as all you collect is RxH.

I'd like to hear why this "kills the skullpirate". Lack of originality to me. Could have done a skullhead figure in other ways.

If you're going the copy route, why not rip off Kaws dissection and do a skull head with one side cut away or decaying. Would be much more interesting in my perspective.

What on earth sold you about a leather eye patch? Granted, I need to see one up close, but it doesn't even seem to mesh with the figure.

Have you ever seen a Skullpirate up close?

Arrrrghhhh skullpirate arghhhhh dissected arghhhh .....is all I heard :)

I never said I didnt like the SP but rather I just liked this better, and being a RxH fan wouldnt that make sense ?

I'm not angry or hating. I just like intelligent debate and discussion. Fortunately, we all don't have the same tastes otherwise the world would be a boring place.

I'll go a bit further. The eye patch seems too big and not the right shape to me.
Also seems like a cheap way to get two figures out of one sculpt.

Just saying that is what I see when I look at it. If you think it's rad, that's fine, whatever. Just trying to understand why versus just reading general statements. That's all.

I guess you kind of have to think that because you're all RxH hardcore, but I don't even see this sculpt coming close to touching the Skullpirate.

the only thing that seems to bite the skullpirate to me is the eye patch. otherwise it doesnt really remind me of the skullpirate at all. it fits really nicely with other RxH where I think the Skullpirate is a little out of the SB spectrum. either way, they are 2 great figs that share a common bond.

I dont "have" to think it. I have my reason why :)

Okay let me lay it dizzown.....

The Skull Pirate rocks, it rocks hardcore !

But when I had it in hand the way it stands on my shelf, I'm not so crazy.

With other Skull Pirates it looks dope. But for me in my collection its a sore thumb. As I dont plan on getting many so I have to get just the right one. And I havent found that yet.

This RxH release, well for me will work just right. I finaly get a skull figure beside my skull wings. So to me personally its what I've been wanting to fill that SP gap. Like I said the SP is dope and after seeing everyones collection I really felt left out. But now with this guy I can go on :)

Now I grabbed the clear because its the first release. But I like the proto even more and can see all the posibilities with piant.

So for me this kills the SP for my collection.

Thats what I should have said :)

**ALSO**

The leather eye patch is super dope !!

And being able to rock it or not is killer. The fig looks dope either way :)

no doubt. Very nice skull head...yes! Better than the skull pirate?...c'mon man, Pus set precedent when he made that. Why else all this type of flattery?

hmmmm..i didn't notice it really biting the pirate too much at all, but i guess i can see some similarity.
Personally, I really like anything to do with skulls and haunted type stuff, and this one is something I'll enjoy looking at every day.
Plus it's a new sculpt that isn't one of those creepy dogs ;)

IMO the best thing about the pirate is it will drive pushead crazy. I feel bad for Mori next time he runs into him. The skull pirate is cool but impossible to display, it looks great on my hand a sorta stupid on my shelf if it is below eye level. On the other hand I still can't believe it stands, technically it is amazing.

The pirate isn't my favorite RxH figure but you have to give Mori some credit, he bust out more new scuplts than any other company. I have to agree with audio about the patch being too big it looks like a hand me down patch he hasn't grown into yet. Why is it covering his good eye? I will wait to make up my mind when I have one in hand. I have been told this one has bubbles in it because there is a problem with the sculpt.

In the end I like to think of this figure as the skull pirate after he finally finishes taking his poo and stands up.

I'm not a big fan of this new RxH sculpt. But at the same time it's quite a bit different from the Skull Pirate, so I don't see it as derivative at all.

I've got four Pirates on my Pushead shelf, and they look fantastic on display. Each has it's own unique characteristics. Personally it feels like quite a lot of work went into the Skull Pirate. Just not getting that vibe from the new RxH figure. Mori certainly takes his chances creating new figures all the time, but not too many (IMO) are up there in quality with the Mutant Head, Evil, and Chaos.

Not trying to be political, but I really think the Skull Pirate works when you put it with all the rest of the skull toys. I have a love and hate for the crouching SP. I think the dirty black and white version is the best one (looks great with Skull Man and Skull Toys) if I "anal"yze it for the paint with sculpt combo. What I don't like about it is the big eye with the white dot paint on it...makes me slightly cringe everytime I see it as it looks slightly cheap to me. That is why I can't stand the clot version, since it's dot is the actual logo, a crappy hand painted one at that. So the dirty b/w version and rainy day version looks the best in my toy cabinet right now.

I love the humor of the new RxH patch over the good eye, since it's supposed to be dead. I think I like RxH's take on all the skull figures out recently and I enjoy a laugh. I also like the sculpt as it looks nerdy but can still go great with the RxH collection I have. I like to think of this as the bastard child of the RxH collection. Since it is a collab, I would assume that RxH did not design 100% of the sculpt so it should at least look somewhat different to their past work.
