Is it worth it? Yes :)
No, this is not another thread about collecting.
I'm going to be in Anaheim, CA this weekend for a conference. I'm presenting a paper on Friday and will return home on Sunday. The conference and my hotel are one block from Disneyland. Should I skip out on the conference on Saturday to go to Disneyland for a day? I'd be by myself, so no one to share the magic with. Is it worth it? I should say, I've never been to Disneyland or Disneyworld.

totally worth it
go to Disneyland, but skip California Adventure if you only have one day
definitely go on Pirates and the Haunted Mansion, all the mountains (Big Thunder, Space, Splash, Matterhorn), most of the stuff in Fantasyland, and if you stay all day try to catch the Fantasmic show at night, even though it's not as good as the Florida one.

I would never do any rides in Cali, just 'cause of the earthquakes and shit. I am deadly afraid of them and would hate being stuck on a ride as one unleashes...but that's just me though...Enjoy!
P.S. Paper on what?

OK, OK, you've convinced me!
And thanks for the suggestions on rides. I have no idea what's there. Any idea what a day pass costs at Disneyland now? I imagine it's no small chunk of change.
PS ichikill: It's a Linguistics paper. I'm a professor.

people are actually afraid of earthquakes in California? U never feel any of them except the really bad ones every 30 years or so... only one that had any effect in my lifetime was in '89

sorry, i'm not familiar with Alice Donut. Why would the shirt be offensive to Disneyland? That's crazy!

I think a day pass is about $65 or so.

Same here. The last earthquake I felt was the Northridge quake of '94.

So, I went and had a blast. I rode almost all of the main roller coaster rides: Space Mountain, the Matterhorn, Thunder Mountain, etc. I also did Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, and Star Tours. Unfortunately (or not), the Small World ride broke down so I couldn't do that. I never waited in line for more than 15 minutes. My favorite was the Indiana Jones ride. And I have to say, the fireworks rocked!

Wow... sounds like you lucked out. If Small World was the only ride that was down, then that's pretty good.

I didn't get to ride the Matterhorn when we were there and it was one of the main reasons I went

all the more reason to go back!
i went last week for the first time and can't wait to get back! Matterhorn rocked, Alice in Wonderland...woooo...yeah i'm easily amused by dark rides
So skylar...you like the florida fantasmic better? Even though CA has the Peter Pan pirate ship??? (not saying one is better...just saying there's a pirate ship...)
