all I got out of it was that the person was trying to accuse us of all using these tactics like having friends or babies stand in line with you to get toys and I can honestly say that I've never done that.

Ive had people stand in line to buy an extra, but they were buying for friends from the board, not to flip.

Yeah, when I bring my wife along, it's to get an extra something for another board member.

It's a shame that the submitter doesn't post here - they might have saved themselves the trouble of having to write a letter that says nothing new amd suggests no new solutions. Double deuce to non-posting forum lurkers who think I ought to care what they think.

Whatever.

I remember the 'bad old days' of collecting stuff from Japan long before the internet.

I remember paying out the ass in 1984 value dollars for something from say Kimono My House or Books Nippon or whoever. Super High prices, impossible to complete sets, backstabbing and price gouging like u wouldnt believe. Maybe 5 people in the US had decent collections or whatever. NO FUN.

Sure its made up, sure theres flippers ..so fucking what. Theres open roads of communication and commerce now.

I think its much much better.

If you collect to be 'better than the other person' your an asshole pure and simple.

collect whatevere because you LIKE whatever.

Pogs, Hummel, Skullbrain, Vintage Autos. have fun. cause, pretty soon you will get old and die.

my motto for 2007 is STFU and COLLECT.

I'm still baffled as to why any of us should give a whooping funt about what some nameless, faceless internet troll thinks..Flame baiting at it's finest and like my father used to say opinions are like assholes, everyone has one!It reeks of negativity and from what i can tell some level of jealousy...After all we're just a bunch of Bastard Babies anyway right?

I don't post much, but I've been collecting for several years and the coolest thing for me is to walk into the stores and buy stuff off the shelves. I lucked out a couple weeks back when someone tried to order two Smoguns online, and I was able to waltz in to the store about noon and pick up the extra with the other goodies I picked up. Not everybody can do that, and web sales are a saving grace, but it means not so much "hot" stuff on the shelves anymore. So, you hunker down and get tough about it, make connections, join the community, know your friends. And I've said it to him directly, but publicly, Cheers to Ramos for fostering the right attitude and providing the forum for it.

The author of that article I am sure gets many complaints from legit collectors (define that however you want, but I mean it as non-flippers, which you can define however you want), because I suspect flippers don't complain that much -- for flippers it's business, miss a deal, wince but don't cry about it, and move on. But he's striking out at everybody as though we are all flippers and stand for things that are not strictly RFSO. A flipper is one thing, but an RFSO colletor who also flips is something else, and that is what he is saying.

It actually seems to me like the author is trying to rationalize his efforts to solve a problem that many here would like to see solved. He doesn't want to upset real collectors, so he lumps them in with flippers. Can it be done? Who knows? But that doesn't mean stop trying. I can appreciate the effort, but alo, f*** him for how he said it.
