I have a gamecube and both the Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil Zero but have played neither yet (where does the time go?!) Resident Evil 4 is actually next on the must play list because I hear fantastic things.
have you heard that they're now remaking Day of the Dead and also apparently making some kind of Night of the Living Dead remake/rewrite in 3-D?!!

The only nightmares I have are about school and zombies.
Where did you get the info about the Day of the Dead remake? I remember it announced a couple of years ago after the Dawn remake (which I loved), but nothing else ever seemed to materialize.
Has anyone been checking out Capcom's Dead Rising on the Xbox 360? I talked to someone who saw it in development and said it was amazing.

Land of the Dead was a big disappointment. While the remake of Dawn of the Dead is actually pretty good.
Not only do I watch and read horror but I write horror fiction as well.

I agree , Dawn of the Dead was really well done, which is rare 'cause now a days w/ all our new technological advances we tend to kill the classics.
Has anyone here seen the movie "Stacy"?

Stacy was great! BTW, that was Fangoria writer Norman England selling "Bruce Campbell's Right Arm" on the home shopping channel. He also has cameos in several recent Toho films.
Land of the Dead was such a letdown. I can't believe I waited 20 years for that. Moviegoers would have been better off with a six pack and the original Day of the Dead script.

There is an unofficial kind of sequal to Day of the Dead out right now called Day of the Dead 2: Contageum or something, I haven't seen it yet but I know the video store by my house has it, it just looks really fucking bad so I haven't rented it yet. I really don't think it has much to do with the original other than having zombies in it, they're just trying to cash in on the name.
The Night of the Living Dead remake in 3d looks like it could be fun though. Sid Haigs in this one and the trailer looks pretty cool, hopefully it will be better than the last re-make.
I haven't been watching enough horror movies lately, Most of my collection was stolen, the best horror movie website ever went down in flames and I've been spending too much time thinking about toys this past year.

Rue Morgue magazine (Horror Mag out of Canada) voted Day of the Dead 2: Contaigen as the worst horror movie of 2005. Previous winner for 2004 was House of the Dead to give you an idea what kind of quality the film has to be to win the award!

Since there's at least a few of you who've played them...
What are the Resident Evil games all about?
The only PS2 games I've played at great length are Grand Theft Auto Vice City, San Andreas, and the Warriors...
I also seen all the RE movies (and liked them, for the most part) if that matters.

I have a collection of small press horror books: Arkham House, Tartarus, Midnight House, Carcossa, etc. and a few series like Shadows, Borderlands, and Night Visions. Oh, and a small collection of Weird Tales pulps. I've read everything by Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, Edward Lucas White, etc.
My wife collects Stephen King and has, I think, every book except the insanely rare ones. I've never been able to make it through one of his books, though, lol. Too many adjectives!

Chad,
To give you a "short" answer to the Res Evil game question: They provide a good combo of horror atmosphere, pretty good if convoluted story (often w/ terrible voice acting), puzzles, and good ol' fashioned blasting zombies with shotguns--throw in some mutants and there you go...The best game in the series was Code Veronica, originally on the Dreamcast, but now the new king is certainly RE4. The one major gripe people had with the series was the sluggish and unintuitive controls. RE4 goes a long way in correcting some of these control issues while again making another leap in graphics.
All in all, highly recommended; esp RE4.

oh man, see my reply on the "other collections" thread. that's fantastic!
I think my source for the Day of the Dead remake info was the newest issue of Rue Morgue. they say that Bub is going to somehow be in it, but it might be indirectly. I think this NOTLD 3-D sounds like a fiasco. I didn't waste my time with that Day of the Dead: Contagiun business either.
However, I should add, contrary to popular opinion, I actually liked the House of the Dead movie, in a this is such an awesome piece of crap way though. it's like Burial Ground for a new generation.
count, what horror website are you talking about that closed down?
has anyone else seen The Descent yet? If not, try to. It's one of the better genre films I've seen in the past year and has a big buzz going about it, but I thought it was deserving of it. in a similar vein to Creep, which was recently released here and was also not bad either, save a few little flaws.
