 Is your collection insured?
Been thinking about this a lot lately, esp. becasue we live in a condo hi-rise...(lots of other tenants to do stupid things even if we are careful as can be)
It may have been covered once before, but I was wondering, who has insurance for their collections & how did you go about getting it? I know a lot of you have very costly collections, and how did you value it/who insures collectibles? Is it covered in your home/renters insurance? Discuss.

don't have specific 'toy' insurance, but do have home and contents insurance. Since each piece isn't worth that much they are covered under the policy, its more the collected collection that costs a lot.

My wife does this to me all the time... drives me crazy...
"Which way do I go? Right or left?"
"Go right..."
"Well, I think it's left..."
"Argh!"

I posted about this a while back and then never did anything about it with the companies mentioned because they all seemed flakey when I started asking questions.

I have not purchased a policy yet (been meaning to), but this company might be a good source:

Hope that helps!

I have my most valuable items listed with my homeowners insurance. Same with my art. the rest, I made sure that I had enough coverage in place to replace my collection, if god forbid, anything happened to our house.

Wow. This is kind of weird - Janet and I were just talking about this yesterday. Right now we've got renter's insurance, but one of our goals in the next month is to update everything with serial #'s, pictures etc. Hopefully they won't be too skeptical at the value I assign to the toy collection.

I've been thinking about earthquakes. I have nightmares about my lava bunny taking a header into our tile floor and snapping off an ear.
