I was at the Lego store tonight with my son and the guy working there said they get 50% employee discount May get a part time job just for that benefit. That's an awesome deal.
My kids were part of a team that won silver medal in a national LEGO mindstorm robotics tournament last week (spatial elevator category). Cool thing is the medals are LEGO's Zone01 Médaille d'Argent by
LEGO IDEAS I think this is brilliant A day left and i think this would be an awesome project If you would like to support https://ideas.lego.com/projects/40291
Oli, you should appreciate this - hometown boy makes it big with his Lego Labryinth: http://www.cbc.ca/news/trending/leg...adian-s-wildly-viral-labyrinth-game-1.3090897 Pretty cool to see some interesting fan stuff become reality. You know, rather than say waiting in eager anticipation for a Golden Girls playset. Now I think it is past time we collectively to get to work on a SB Lego project of our own. I would be all over building some elaborate kaiju destruction or 'lifesize' Japanese monster/hero masterpiece.
Nice! I'm way too lazy to go back 17 pages, but did anyone ever post that city scene with robots/kaiju fighting it out? Or was it Gundams? I forget, but it was really neat.
I know I posted some Pacific Rim ones, and more than I have seen a few takes on Goji (but the modern versions) but I would really love to see some 'classic' monsters given the brick treatment. Sigh, one of those things to think about if I ever have money/win the lottery.
Happy Birthday Lego! On the 28th of January, 1958, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen was granted the patent for the first modern Lego brick design, based on the "Automatic Binding Bricks" developed by the 'Lego Group' in his father's plastic toy workshop. And thus toy history, endless childhood memories, and many an obsession, was born! Spoiler Updated patent image from 1961:
I got the Mini over the Holidays I haven't built it yet. I started buying a bit a few years ago when my sister-in-law would have them on her XMas list (yes, our family does a list). I've bought a couple from the Star Wars line like the Microfighters. I'm really liking the Creator line and the Architecture line. Pretty bummed I missed out on some of the Frank Lloyd Wright and the Villa Savoye. It would be awesome to see the Sagrada Familia but I doubt I'd be able to afford that. I like the Speed Champions but wish the cars were a bit wider. They seem too narrow although the F1 cars are great. The classic space series was my favorite when I was growing up (loved the blue spacemen). I wish I still had my Lego sets. Mom gave it all away when we moved. This and Hot Wheels have been taking my money lately.
I eyeball that Mini every time we go to the Lego store. I also have my eye on the architecture set. I need to go on and pick them up before they are retired.
I picked this up last year on the day it was released. I was looking forward to this set since Lego announced Scooby Doo on Instagram. They posted a brown 1x1 block with Scooby's collar around it. It's a great set for $20 - $25. The build is spot on to the vehicle. There are stickers for the sides though, so fair warning if you're very particular to things being aligned correctly (like me). I picked Daphne and Velma off of Ebay separately to complete the gang. I didn't need the larger sets.
Haha, just saw this shot randomly on an article about the new Lego 'Fun in the Park' set. Nooooooo!! Don't you know you are not supposed to let George near your children (or their nostalgic memories)?
LOVE the Scooby Doo Lego! I wish I could afford the Ghostbusters firehouse, but it's a wee bit expensive... I'd also love to get hold of the Indiana Jones Lego sets too, I totally missed the boat on those, and some of the sets on the secondary market now are just nuts. I'm hoping one day we'll see Masters of the Universe Lego sets, that would be sick!
Agreed! That looks like a great set too. If anything, I'll pick up the Lego Dimensions Ghostbusters pack. I don't have the video game, but the set includes a mini-Ecto-1 and a more Bill Murray-ish Peter Venkman. Mattel bought Mega Bloks, so if there are any MOTU sets, it'll probably be in that style...which may not be bad. Not Lego style, but tiny articulated MOTU figs could be cool.
Villa Savour is out of print now. Check eBay if you want one. I managed to find it for retail from Barns and Noble with free shipping.
Anyone excited about the new Ghostbusters coming out? I might have to find the first Ecto 1 to go with the new one.
^^ Every figure in that set is great. I love the Joker "mustache" and batman suit. I just saw the new mystery packs that are released in May. Disney!!! SO cool.
