This morning I pulled some older bubble wrap out of the closet and when unwrapping it I noticed it completely sticking to itself big time! Now this is not the bubble wrap I just used to wrap two giant tubs of toys but I'm not taking any fucking chances. I'm currently in the basement unwrapping two whole days of work I did individually wrapping toys. I'm going with the method I used when I moved here- where I used old t-shirts/clothes and layered- sofubi lasagne. Maybe not ideal for storage but at least I won't have the horror show 6-12 months down the road of finding the bubble wrap stuck to all my toys and peeled the paint right off.

    Better safe than sorry, @Lixx

Fuck the mosquitos that bit me on my walk last night. There was a breeze and I was walking briskly, but nope, the Asian tiger mosquito does not give a fuck. ONE BIT MY THIGH THROUGH MY JEANS.
    Itchy, so itchy...

Can I just say, not really as a f*ck you, but just that I'm really tired of hype beasts flippers? I know people that were trying to help good friends and collectors (not myself) at the recent Santa Cruz show.... Just to miss out because of people like "sxt_bucho" on IG. He literally just posted that "he was lucky enough to get 'doubles' of everything so he could trade them. He really wants MVH, TKO, retrobrand and more according to his post. It's just frustrating to watch stuff like this happen time and time again. But what can you do right? Again, didn't impact me at all, just venting because I'm tired of this crap.

Now imagine seeing this shit played out by n00b chancers, douchenozzles and wannabe internet 'super-collectors' for the last 10 years instead of just the last 3!

True, true, but if had never happened, we never would've been graced your sarcasm ;) which most of us appreciate haha. I know I'm still newer to all of this, even after 4 plus years of collecting but I hear ya. It's been going on for awhile and will continue to do so. I think IG has been tremendously helpful in helping new artists get recognized but its also hurts at the same time. Hype beasts shell out cash for IG likes and some online gratification and then some other folks see it and want to jump on board.

Seems a lot of guys need telling/showing what they should like and buy!

Instaspam is a great visual resource but demonstrates plenty of fucked-up personality traits, OCD behaviours and social ineptitude in a whole bunch of users!

Probably why I like it so much!

There were tons of toys left over and sxt_bucho is new to collecting so he doesn't know the "rules" (he didn't even know what trade flipping is).
Some of us got what we wanted in the first round of sales (I say some because it was cash only and some of us didn't bring enough cash or couldn't afford everything we wanted), and a few others bought more and even doubles, not just him (there was a lady that came back 4 times). Everyone that was there could have easily ended up with at least 2-3, even 4 in some cases, of almost every toy that they purchased.
This wasn't like they were at a Con where they would probably sell out. This was an event where about 30 people showed up and not even half the toys sold, maybe not even a third. The toys were also a bit more expensive than usual (your standard sized toy went for and average of $120...up from what would have been $100), but this is just a side note.
This was taken at the end of the event. Behind the table, there were easily 10 more of each of the Goccodo and Punk Drunker toys. In the case of sxt_bucho, it's a rookie mistake (which a lot of us have done), and you know what, all the mules that were there were able to get what they were asked of (so those people didn't miss out). I know a couple people missed out, but not because someone bought doubles but because no one saw the Wants post or didn't know about the event. If people were not allowed to buy more, do you think these companies would have another event like this? Probably not. We'd only see them at Cons where you chances of getting the toy you want are pretty slim.
All those people on IG that were condemning sxt_bucho didn't even talk to him at the event. They kept to their own little group. They didn't even try to talk to anyone else. Why not? They probably thought the guy in the suit, or the 2 Asian girls and the guy in the Rocking Jelly Bean shirt are also flippers. Yeah...we are, you ignorant fucking bastards ;)

@gatchabert Okay, you had me feeling a bit bad about all the bashing up until the end there. God forbid people go with friends and don't talk to others. I know I'm personally shy as fuck around everyone I don't know, so I probably wouldn't talk to anyone either. :|

It's fine if you're shy. The 2 Asian girls I referred to are also shy but get them talking and you will find that they are super nice. I am also rather shy but ended up talking to sxt_bucho because we approached each other as a group. It only takes 1 person in a group to break the ice. You might ask why didn't I talk to them. I was catching up with friends I haven't seen in a while, and by a while I mean at least a year. Maybe those guys were doing the same. That's fine...but to call someone a flipper, or a shitty person without having talked to the guy, that is where the fault lies. Everyone passes judgement on everyone without even knowing them. At least make an educated guess at it. Of course people are going to say "he's a flipper. The proof is right there." So when is it okay to trade toys? I'll say it right now. I have doubles, even triples of some toys as do some of the long time collectors on here. Is it never okay to trade those away?
    Popcorn anyone?

@gatchabert I think this is all reasonable - I'm new to this community still, and the methods of collecting and how one handles their collection are somewhat different from other hobbies I have been in (at least the ones that tend to be rapid fire in terms of availability). I respect the rules of the community I enter, no problem, I understand and adapt, but it took me a while to feel them out and gain an understanding of how it operates. You really have to dig in and talk to a few people and read around to understand what is kosher and what isn't, there is definitely a learning curve. Some people just don't even think about something like social rules in a hobby, my husband doesn't think about that type of thing, when I explained some of the social aspects of this hobby to him he was like WHY hah, and it's because some personalities just don't think this type of social system would exist within a niche, nor does everyone take their hobbies seriously enough to go "balls deep" so to speak - and it's reasonable to expect a hobby to have varying degrees of personal interest from its participants. A lot of people wouldn't second guess the desire to trade an object or buy/sell something extra to what they have. I think it's definitely good to realize that this hobby has a social structure and rules, and to be aware that not many people may know this, especially right off the bat. It's not common to every hobby, only some. I think the artistry, the hand-made nature of this hobby, changes the entire frame - respect for the artists, and respect for the designs, along with respect for comrades in the hobby, changes everything, and yeah it's not common in every hobby, just some, like this one, it seems.

    Fuck my grandma.

I know, I know, that sounds absolutely terrible... But my grandmother is an awful person, and has always been an awful person. I don't want to go into details because I'll end up writing an essay, but my dad once told my mom in private, "If my mother died tomorrow, I don't think I would cry."
I think that basically summarizes how she has impacted our family and her own son over the years... Very, very negatively.
(Oh, and never tell my parents anything in private, they're incapable of keeping secrets.)

Well, these days she has been pretty much slowly killing herself and lying to everyone about her health.
"I have arthritis in my leg." No, you have gout. You drink when you're not supposed to, eat terribly, and basically do everything the doctor tells you not to.
"I'm not drinking." Sure, you totally didn't get up 3 times last night to raid our bar. It's not like you stomp like a rhino each time and I sleep right below that room, nooooo.
"I don't know why I feel so terrible today." It's called a hangover.
"I can't walk." Yet you walk perfectly, and unaided to the bar. Mmkay.
"I don't know what happened. This never happens." (About peeing the bed.) YOU DRANK TOO MUCH. And you do have a problem, you piss the bed every time you come here. TELL YOUR DOCTOR ALREADY.

We've always had to "serve the queen" but now it includes cleaning up her urine-soaked sheets and clothes, taking out the urine-stink trash, listening to her complain about every self-inflicted medical issue and expecting us to feel sorry for her... Sorry, I still remember how she felt when I was sick, and when I almost died from the flu. She has never given a flying fuck.

Anyway, she's going to interviews to try to get into a state-run home. She's been trying to weasel herself into living with us for years now, and it's just not going to happen. When you're a rude, vindictive, and narcissistic person, nobody wants you around every day... Even your own kid.

UPDATE: She peed on the bathroom floor and left it like that. My dad stepped in it unknowingly with his work shoes. Thanks, drunk grandma.

I heard stories about the "Road to Sofubi" People waiting in line, getting instagram messages from pretty much strangers asking for help. But with the cash only situation, even if they wanted to help they really can't. And then the people attacking them afterwards for not helping. Fuck those entitled pricks. It's sad this troupe goes out of the way to do something awesome like a global tour. And it's overshadowed by a bunch of greedy asshats.

That's pretty shitty. What makes people think they're entitled to force strangers into muling for them? Go to the event yourself... Or suck it up. I've missed out on more releases than I can count because I can't afford to travel and I never bother to ask for someone to mule. And you know what? That's fine. I'll live. :| Some people need to seriously chill with this hobby, and learn to love what you have.

Wow. I don't mind mules but to be hit up by strangers and then getting attacked for not helping, that's just plain dumb. The "I gotta have..." feeling hits people differently. I've asked a few people to grab me something from a Con sometimes. If they can't help out, I just chalk it up to "not meant to be".

Fuck people who absolutely break your heart and don't even have the decency to own up to their own mistakes or flaws in that relationship. Isn't a relationhsip two people? They blame you for everything that went wrong and completely turn your life upside down in the most excruciating ways possible without a care- because they lost their soul a long time ago. Moving on is easy after 10 years when you checked out awhile ago.

And fuck me for being on autopilot (school kind of did it) and not seeing it years ago.

Fuck Buffalo- I will not miss this dreadful place with no jobs, shitty people (for the most part), and awful winters that last into May sometimes! It's basically a place you move to when you want your dreams to die.

Fuck people making bootleg resins of licensed characters without a license. Seriously lazy and uncreative as fuck, but people are just cashing in with dumb fan boys who could care less. All the Stranger Thing resins are worse than the Star Wars. Seriously, saw some guy complaining about his Stranger Thing toys being flipped on Ebay and the seller just profiting on his work. Well guess what dummy you're just profiting off of all the Duffer brothers hard work, so stop crying.

Haha - well, I know it is not funny, sad, actually. I did not know this was a thing, but now that you have brought it up, I see no reason that I should feel surprised either. And what's more, I feel very little desire to subject myself to checking out those. But really, what point have we reached in this 'hobby' where people are trying to flip homemade resin toys?

@toothaction The worst. No ways around it. Renting is such a burden on most average folk.

Since I am here, FU Bayer for buying Monsanto; that is just what we need. :x
