@hellointerloper - The nice upshot, though, is that the foolish youngsters have opened your eyes to a potential goal and focus for some of your artistic and possible financial intentions. Might well be a fun project to cater some of your efforts to a possible monster portfolio or some such, as any inspiration to create beasties is a good one. Spec work can be one of the only paths to success in this stoopit world, and we all know what they say about practice!

Not that you don't already know all of the above... just typin'!

F U going out to Bode, my Husky that suffers from separation anxiety. The very first day we left him alone in our new home, he pulled the trim off the door frame and started chewing/digging through the drywall. BTW, he didn't get yelled at or scolded, we realize that yelling doesn't help at all.. Yesterday, we came home and he had unlocked the back door and was just chilling in the back yard!

To hopefully correct the issue, we will be using the Wag app (it's like Uber for dog walkers..) so that he has some company while we're working.

As much as we love our dog, I just wish he would stop f*cking sh*t up in our house..

By the way, this isn't a new place for him, it's my mom's old house. He's been here a million times before and has spent the night dozens of times when my mom has been watching the dog for us when we go away..

On the other hand Hellointerloper, that project does have the potential to be the next Zyborn Clock.

@hellointerloper , keep in mind that there are plenty of projects that don't make it into fruition, but as long as you are getting paid as you go, you are working and moving forward. The rest is their responsibility, and who knows, it might happen, as you have to start somewhere, but even if it doesn't, you can be confident knowing that you did your part. Of course if it becomes too frustrating, it may not be worth it to you... Back in the day when I used to do design work, I can recall a good number of projects that were never completed, but as long as I could get money along the way for album art, t-shirt design, etc, then if it never happens on their end, you still have something to show for your work. Trying to get paid after a project goes belly-up is a serious headache and usually never worked in my favor, which is why it's best to get paid for your progress as you go. Sometimes you don't have a choice if you need the work that bad to put your eggs in that basket, BUT If a sketchy group like this can't agree to pay you as you go however, I wouldn't do it.

Working from home today, I finished up and decided to get some flowers for the wife being that tomorrow is valentines day. There is a cop at the end of my block, he pulls me over right at the entrance to my development & I get written up for driving an unregistered vehicle. Now my vehicle was registered, the registration expired 13 days ago and PA does not differentiate between expired vs unregistered. Not that it matters but I pick up my mail daily & I am certain no renewal was ever sent. Pulling me over on the street where I live & writing a $180 ticket for not even 2 weeks expired is ridiculous, but I feel worse having to explain to my wife why valentine's day is ruined when she gets home from work tonight.

Sounds like the time the State of CT sent me "multiple letters" trying to see if I was dead because I didn't log into my Schwab account for two years (I never got anything) and decided that I really was dead (despite the fact that I AM NOT DEAD and was ENROLLED IN SCHOOL AND ALIVE) and took all my stocks and liquidated them.
Had to jump through hoops with the Unclaimed Department to get it back, and pay taxes on it that year as income.
Moral of the story... State workers are fucking fabulous at mailing things!

Anyway, this video game thing? No pay until we make profit. They FINALLY had some sense knocked into them and decided to make an idle clicker game. Still wary as hell. The only concept art they're getting are sketches, I'm not putting actual effort into this for no pay.

Also, fuck Valentine's Day. Too many miserable friends this year being made even more depressed by a stupid Hallmark holiday, just to sell diamonds, chocolate, and flowers. Not that there's anything wrong with chocolate or flowers... but there's such an expectation to purchase them on this one day, as if buying something TODAY means life or death for a relationship.
You want true love? True love is found the day after, when all that candy goes on sale.

right? I am not asking for any favors but it's not like I ran a stop sign & the cop chose to write up a non moving violation. I think a warning for less than two weeks expired would be more than fair. The best part though, I renewed online last night & found out as of December, PA stopped mailing notices to renew. Congrats to the DMV for finding a way to save money on mail while increasing the cost of renewal from $35 to $2oo+. What is the point of government if the people don't benefit from it?

Exactly. Sometimes we have to hold the authority and offices accountable just as we do ourselves. Everything can rise above if we stay focused and determined and work together to a common, though sometimes disagreed upon, future.

^ Said people that received their tickets on paved roads with proper signage from a government agency that also actually does serve and protect...

But point taken! Super shitty that so much policing is based on meeting ticket quotas, Criminal.

i do admit that my feelings towards LAPD are very biased and based heavily on personal experiences. heres a very quick story; ask friend to drive newly purchased car to get smogged and registered because i had lost my license the week prior. get to the next light and we're now getting pulled over, friend is nervous because hes never had a run in with the law. reason for getting pulled over is expired registration. explain that we're on our way to take care of that and next thing you know im on the floor in handcuffs because i didnt understand what the officer meant when she asked "where are you from". turns out she wanted to know what gang i was from because in a tattooed hispanic male. explain that i tattoo for a living and that my first thought was that she was questioning my status as an american citizen. after over a decade of borderline harassment ive grown a little weary of LAPD's intentions, BUT i recognize their role in society and am not running around screaming F*CK THE POLICE lol

that same car is the reason i lost my license i might add. i bought it, got on the 101 and by the next exit i was being pulled over. made it a whole mile. turns out the plates on it didnt match the car (bought it from an impound lot) and they took my license away. and i had to get picked up lol. what a wacky week that was

Don't even get me started on the PA DMV! I had this experience:

    http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/ノಠ益ಠ-ノ彡-┻━┻.38012/page-82#post-912212

Now the state forgot to mail out my medical plan card, which I had to call and light a fire under someone's ass yesterday! Seriously horrific state when it comes to doing anything bureucratic. Cannot wait to move out of here.

@drybones69 - For various levels of stitch-splitting, you might want to try Detectorits, The IT Crowd, Danger 5, Louie or Maron. If you wanted to spend time with a soap or two, you might want to have a look at Broadchurch, The Fall or Rectify.
Some docs I recently enjoyed: Lo and Behold, Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead and Tabloid.

A friend of mine's brother just had his gallbladder removed. No joke, best of luck on your recovery!

I always think my sister will change, so fuck me.
(Long story ahead, but typing these things out always seems to make me feel better. It's therapeutic, and I'm sure someone gets a laugh out of the ridiculousness of my family life.)

See, my dad's side of the family has huge and crooked noses. Every woman on my dad's side of the family has had a nose job. My dad made a vow that he will pay, in full, for a nose job for every daughter he has. He had two... me and my sister. I have a thin nose from the front, but from the side I have a protruding and crooked bridge. My sister has a wide nose from the front, and a short, almost sloping, concave bridge. Honestly, I've always envied her nose. I think it looks amazing.

I'm not a spiritual or religious person on any level, but I do believe that sometimes dreams can be a reflection of the self without your "waking anxieties/thoughts/etc" getting in the way. Before I went to college I was planning on getting mine done, but then I had a dream where I spoke to classmate who wanted one too... and I said "There was a time where I wanted one too, but then I realized that I don't need one. I'm comfortable with myself, and I don't need to change it." I woke up realizing that I only wanted one because of what society dictates is a "pretty nose," and told my dad that I changed my mind. Never have considered it since.

Meanwhile, my sister is never happy. She had a breast augmentation done a few years ago, but she truly was flat so I can't really blame her. What I couldn't understand was why she has yet to pay my parents back for it, when she has a job and savings. My parents paid for half because they felt somewhat responsible for her genetics, but now they've been afraid to pressure her to pay for the other half. She's their daughter, and all that bullshit.

I thought my sister was getting a bit less selfish and vain though, because we've been getting along a lot better after years of butting heads over just about everything. Well, that all changed this weekend.

My sister decided she wanted to get a consultation for a nose job. Turns out she has a deviated septum, so insurance will cover most of that surgery, at least. For the cosmetic procedure, however, my parents asked... "How are you going to pay for that?"
That's where shit hit the fan.
She asks "what do you mean ME? You said you'd pay for a nose job."
My parents replied that they paid for half of her boob job, she used up that so-called "free pass."
She literally says "Why the hell would I use all of my savings that I worked so hard for... to pay for my nose job?"
My parents are like "lol welcome to adulthood" at which point she starts arguing "Well MADDIE isn't getting a nose job, I should be able to take her nose job since you guys are saving money because she decided to keep her big nose and yada yada yada"
At this point my parents finally lose it and bring up the unpaid loan for the boob job, and viola, she shuts up.

But holy fucking turdcakes, how am I related to that?
Why do I ever think she will change?
How did she end up like this?
Ffffffffuuuuuck. I feel slimy just knowing we share the same parents sometimes.

Had my gallbladder removed a few years ago. It sucked hard. I feel you guys' pain and wish you a speedy recovery.

As a side note on that same topic, I had to have my gallbladder removed by cutting me up and opening a wound on my side. This meant that post-surgery I was walking around with a giant gash and a few staples. i was walking the next day. I decided to go to my friend's house to relax. They were watching Zack and Miri Make a Porno. If you havent watched this gem of avantgarde cinema, do yourselg a favor and dont. Its not that great. Anyways, theres a scene where theyre shooting a backdoor scene and one of the characters gets pooped on. I laughed so hard I had to leave the room and was in so much pain I couldnt stop laughing, which prompted a lot more pain and so on. It has been the hardest Ive ever laughed at my own misery. Glad I didnt pop a stitch, Good times.
