Here by popular demand, possibly SB's new favorite off-topic thread! I really want to try one of these. It's was in Elvis' list of guilty pleasures apparently: the Fools' Gold Loaf. Peanut butter and jelly with bacon. As far as things that I have actually consumed, I enjoyed scrapple.
McDonald's should fall under crimes against humanity. For me...black pudding. Delicious and disgusting.
^Has to be GRILLED, though. I came up w/ a spin on Elvis' fave sammich that I sometimes make as a pot-luck brunch item... I dubbed them "Little Kings". I cut slices of white bread into 3 - 4 strips, spread them w/ pb, and then add either jelly or sliced banana and honey. Wrap 'em in bacon, toothpick 'em, and bake.
It's meat molded to look like other meat and bone?!? Insane! Plus pickles. Thank God it's not available too often.
I dunno, something about the crunchiness of the outside, the spices, and the nacho cheese dip is just delicious to me. I mean, it's not better than the cheese fries at my favorite restaurant... but for less than 2 bucks and 2 minutes in a drive-thru, it's more than good enough.
The Vortex here in Atlanta has the "Elvis Burger" with peanut butter and bananas THAT SHIT IS DELICIOUS
I want to cry, that's how nauseating that sounds. Definitely a crime. ...when I was really little, like maybe 5, I would eat my Cheerios in the morning with Canada Dry Ginger Ale. No, I don't know what the hell was wrong with me.
^ @hellointerloper - Reminds me, I need to know more about the hows and whys of soggifying pizza with soda. @Purple Bat is holding his breath for an answer, too!
I have never seen the act happen, but whenever there is alcohol around this particular family friend, the floodgates of just about everything are open. We were chatting about a whole bunch of random crap, which led to us talking about how many stores close down in our town, which led to us laughing about how people finally figured out that smoothies had like 1500 calories (our Robek's closed), and that reminded me of a friend I had in high school who would dip his fries in strawberry smoothies. (That I -did- unfortunately witness.) She then confessed that she enjoys dipping entire pizza slices in a glass of Coke and then chowing down. We were all "WHAAAAAT" and she laughed her ass off. She said it all mixes in your stomach anyway, but it tastes good to her apparently. I mean, maybe she did figure out something, but the thought of ruining a perfectly good glass of Coke with pizza grease and crust pieces just makes me sad.
I bet that burger is amazing. My wife was down in ATL recently visiting friends and went to The Vortex. She said it was great.
This is a culinary crime by marriage. My wife enjoys taking a handful of popcorn and and then douses it with spray cheese and make a popcorn cheese ball out of it. I've never been brave (or foolish) enough to try it myself but I'm certain its a crime.
There are better burgers but Vortex is pretty good and all about the atmosphere. Tell her to check out HF Burgers in Ponce City Market next time. Or Flip if she wants fancy pants burgers.
There's a place here in Houston called Guru Burgers that serves something similar. They call it "The King" and it comes with a delicious beef patty topped off with peanut butter, grape jelly, plantains, and bacon. I'd probably put it in my top 5 for burgers.
I understand this too well , though Salisbury steak in general. Country fried steak is right up there too. I always thought it was a Southern thing.
The Nook is the burger spot in my town know for the Juicy Lucy. However in April, they serve a Homer burger. It's a double bacon cheeseburger with a Glazed Donut for the bun. I shake Crystal Hot Sauce into microwave popcorn. I put salt on my Watermelon. My friend was homeless and said she bought Sprite for her cereal because it was cheaper than Milk, and she still craves it. I take a Peanut M&M and wrap a sour patch kid around it. It's a masterpiece. I take almonds, just almonds, and wrap them up in a slice of american cheese and call it a nut taco.
I made a ridiculous pot roast in my slow cooker last weekend, using a recipe that I created. Here's a link if you'd like to try it: https://docs.google.com/document/d/114mEhgbzitWnY5Ywe9GuHnHZDHCjgNhcvtqDKFx-zII/edit?usp=sharing
