MUWHAHAHA!! Ackshully, Bill, with a new baby on the way, I've put the clamps down on my toy & art budget (and directed most of my attention to a project- hinted at elsewhere- that may rear its head for the first time at GARAMANIACAL opening night); I've already decided that my spending money for the show will be mostly budgeted against projected sales of my own works at the show. I just hope I can grab a couple really cool items before they're gone! As for shirt possibilities: I’ve never sold any of those cutaway shirts- I’ve only given them away, at my own expense. Loved doing it, because it’s a GREAT piece of Gara-art that needs to be walking around in the world, but if I’m to do another run of shirts right now, I would have to be able to at least make my money back on them, and I can’t sell that design in good conscience… it’s not mine. I would feel much more okay about selling a Garowleymon tee… or there are a couple other show-related design possibilities… we’ll see what happens.
Hi all- just a heads-up that I'll be posting on Garamania about the art contest that's tied to GARAMANIACAL some time in the next couple of days. It's a coloring contest of sorts , with opportunities to win a couple of great, very desirable MIB Garamon toys while benefiting a great charitable cause. Please stay tuned!!
Haha, thanks guys! I wanted to pay tribute to the almighty Garamon with all his distinct features and lore that makes him the classic villain kaiju he is. Thanks Michael (ungawa222) for reaching out and giving me the awesome opportunity to participate in such an awesome event!!! I can't wait to see the other contributions! This is going to be one heck of a show!
...aaaaand check out the new header on Garamania (http://garamania.blogspot.com/). Walter is a very talented dude, great to communicate and work with!
Re: GARAMANIACAL @ FOE Gallery- COLORING CONTEST info added! GARAMANIACAL coloring contest link added to top post!!
Re: GARAMANIACAL @ FOE Gallery- COLORING CONTEST info added! Two other things I want to mention re. the contest: -Two-for-one entry fee for skullbrainers: two entries, a right and a left facing one, and your name in the drawing pool twice, for $2. Please just remember to include your sb handle along with your payment. -We will be scanning every submitted entry before they go up in FOE; they will be featured in an online gallery at some point after the show opens (we may even have finished pieces available to buy online). I hope to do a few myself in the coming days (one more thing to squeeze in); I’ll post pics on Garamania when they’re done, for inspiration!
Re: GARAMANIACAL @ FOE Gallery- COLORING CONTEST info added! Managed to get a coloring contest entry of my own done today. I hope to get in as many as I can between now and opening night, as time allows. Of course, mine are just to be sold in the show to benefit MSPCC, and I want to post 'em up here and on Garamania as examples of what can be done. I printed the image on acetate; flipped it over and went to work dotting it up with red, white and pink paint markers. Brushed a fleshy lip color in. Made a quick paper mask around Gary using another copy of the image, then rust red and neon orange were flecked on with a toothbrush and a latex-gloved index finger. Pink and purple sprays on the back to wrap it up, leaving some of it clear, then mounted it on the awesome green and gold lizard skin wrapping paper from my sister's awesome Xmas gift to me. Again, contest info is here: http://garamania.blogspot.com/2011/12/garamaniacal-coloring-contest.html Have fun!
Re: GARAMANIACAL @ FOE Gallery- COLORING CONTEST info added! ^^ My wife just said "Well that's not intimidating."
Re: GARAMANIACAL @ FOE Gallery- COLORING CONTEST info added! Aw, come on! Ain't nothin' but a Gara-thang! Paint markers and spray cans, for fong's sake! And remember, I said ANYTHING GOES!!! Work it any way you wanna... keeping it half a standard page in size is the only rule!
Re: GARAMANIACAL @ FOE Gallery- COLORING CONTEST info added! They'll each be custom bagged and header'd...

Re: GARAMANIACAL @ FOE Gallery- COLORING CONTEST info added! Just a heads-up to my fellow ‘brainers: I won’t get a chance to shoot/post them until the weekend, but by Sunday evening, the prize pool for the coloring contest will be greatly enriched, with three new prizes added, bringing the total to five prizes (and five winning names to draw). The custom mini pair above (which I’m calling the “HTC Micro-Edition”*), individually tiny-bagged and tiny-headered, will be added as one prize, a MIB green-suited M1-GO Semi-Ningen will be the second, and the third… all I can say right now is that it will be extremely… Grody. This board’s members have art talent to burn… whatever your level of art ability, put it to work to enrich your own collection and to support the MSPCC (http://www.mspcc.org/)! Your name is entered into the random drawing for prizes once for each entry you submit; more entries = more chances to win, and more money for the MSPCC when some lucky FOE patron buys your mini-masterpieces! *Hot Toxic Chunklets
Well, firstly, I apologize, but I wasn't able to get the pics/announcement on the added coloring contest prizes up on Garamania... in part because of a toy tragedy that happened yesterday ... please see this post: http://skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=41560, and let me know if you can help! I should be able to get the new prize pics posted up by tomorrow night!
Are any Boston area folks driving out for the opening, and have an empty seat in their car that needs to be filled? I got the time off from work, but the wife needs the car. I have no problem throwing in some gas money and witty banter.
And now… I would like to pause from picking up the tiny, bloody bits of my own shattered skull, to share with you, my fellow ‘brainers, the thing what wreaked such delightful havoc on my dome… behold, Jason Edmiston’s contribution to GARAMANIACAL! x 1,000,000
