Hm, one of the flash animations at the official site clearly referenced King Gidorah, (which may have been "viral" misdirection, anyway,) but those feet and another shot in the trailer look more like Spoiler Rodan. ...that's assuming, which I don't, that it's an identifiable kaiju as opposed to some new invention.
Nice breakdown of the trailer with some very interesting discoveries. http://io9.com/who-are-the-other-monsters-in-the-new-godzilla-trailer-1531048665 Ok, but how many monsters will be there?
Ha! Damn it. I meant to type "beasts." I don't always catch my slip ups using my phone. I'm definitely not gonna read any of the script if it is, in fact, leaked. Total surprise.
I thought there were going to be creatures called MUTO??, some type of giant insect = like a praying mantis ( and maybe a larger queen MUTO?). If you search for Godzilla toys , MUTO comes up. But it could be a marketing ploy to hide the identity of the real creatures in the movie besides Godzilla...
That's why I'm taking all rumors and rumors of leaked scripts with a major grain of salt. Remember the "Cloverfield" viral marketing in advance of the film? A completely false narrative was very successfully advanced ... people thought they'd figured out some of the plot basics, then the actual nature of the film and the origin of the monster turned out to be unrelated to the viral fake-out. Besides, I caught myself reading a summary of the alleged leaked script and stopped, deciding that it'd be more fun to see it "cold," anyway.
As much as I wasn't into Pacific Rim and refused to see it, I'm definitely going to see this movie. Reasons? First it's Godzilla! Second Bryan Cranston is in it. Third it looks really bleak and dark. I hate happy super pc gung ho assholes saving the day. That might still happen but at least the trailers make it look bleak enough for me.
I will wait & see. The thing I like about old school, rubber suit Kaiju movies is they have a sort of hokey charm that CG misses. The old stuff relies on suspension of disbelief, kind of like a puppet show or Haryhausen animation. I guess my fondness for quirkiness is why I prefer funky, stylized kajiu toys to toys that try to look realistic. However, a good movie is good movie. I liked 'The Host', so I won't automatically write off this remake.
^ Totally agree with you Biff about the old school toys and movies and the retro-charm they bring to the table. Here is the new Snickers Godzilla 2014 commercial which via rubber-suit-mation, brings back the fun that evokes childhood memories. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkNeGDNhYZo But old skool or CGI, I loved Gareth Edwards' debut with his low budget film "Monsters" and am totally awaiting the premiere of his new 2014 film, the two trailers and Bryan Cranston give promise that it will be a hit!
Yeah I read it somewhere, but I know they said this will be the largest Godzilla ever. I guess that's the real takeaway from the picture.
Kaiju zoo, I was about to post something about that commercial! Just saw it on the tv I thought it was hilarious!! The movie on the other hand looks very promising.
Anyone on here who hasn't seen "Monsters", should definitely check it out. I was surprised at how much I liked it, and liked it even more the 2nd & 3rd time. Kind of an opposite to "Pacific Rim" (sorry, no monster suits though). For a quick look: http://youtu.be/a-2aTT2SvGo It's on Netflix, for those interested.
"Monsters" wasn't really about monsters. Neither was "Godzilla" (1954.) That's why I think Edwards is perfect for this reboot.
