I've been mad busy this week and haven't taken any photos yet, but my box came from LB the other day with two Monsters, Oji and his bud, and two Restore blanks. The Monsters are fun, and I managed to score the kinds of color and bit combos I wanted (Mummy head and Drac... still want the blocky head). They're a silly concept, and as mixed blanks they're just dumb, goofy fun, and I dig them. The Oji and his Karakuri are spectacular. The Karakuri in particular is quickly jumping up to being one of my favorite toys... especially since I can bring him along for a car ride, throw him in a cargo pocket, and he always looks good 'hanging around'. I might just stick with one Oji, since the colors on the first are pretty much perfect, but I could see myself assembling a little army of Karas for him. I hit him with a hair dryer when he came and gave him a little lean so he could stand with his arms out, and now he's perfect. The rocky texture is really well done, and so unlike any other figures I have. Definitely looking forward to seeing more from Grody Shogun!
I know these are being produced by / for LB, but does anyone know if these will be available to other retailers?
got a pair of these guys in the mail today, after scrutinizing the sculpt some of the folds/chunkyness on the body forms a crude mouth and eyes, these things have so much play value, puts the toy back into toy collecting, Ill have to keep my fingers crossed for more mixed parts releases pink would be great for a girly drac
purple(lavender)/pink/red/yellow/white would make an awesome mixed set to pair with the greens/blue/grey/white/brown versions.
even a two color split would be nice arms/head one color the body another color, another good one to see would be a brown body and arms with a white or blue/grey drac head
I thought about trying to get an all brown or all blue-grey 1 with trading parts but kept thinking I really like the mixed parts aspect of it too.
a trading party of these guys would be sick, I'm feeling you on the not wanting to break up the mixed parts, but it's just an excuse to buy even more if they do this again, on that subject I was pondering if these will ever see a painted release or if they're just gonna be lighthearted fun, or will we see a mixed parts painted release?if you picked the right colors that could be fun especially if the paintjobs did not match just the colors used
I generally don't go for mixed-parts, or un-painteds, but I really like both on these Monsters! I too had thought about trading pieces but probably won't. I hope I have a box waiting for me when I get home!
I haven't received my package yet, but I was already thinking a parts swap would be an excellent idea! Maybe be could put together a general list of available/desirable coloured limbs, and start some straight trades to build our multicoloured armies!
You should be able to get the arms and head to match up in color and character. I have a dark green left arm that looks like wood and want a hairy left arm instead. If anyone wants wood for hair, let me know
I was super happy to receive this guy. Love the colors and the fact that the head and arms match. I considered trading for a solid color figure before my 2 Monsters showed up. But now intend to keep them mixed.
So do other people see faces in the torsos? Or am I making that up? Got mine yesterday and LOVE them! Luke did a great job of piecing mine together. I'll try to get photos up sometime. I can't wait to see regular painted releases of these guys.
Thanks Joe. He is much loved. I see the faces too. Luke rocks. Painted versions will blow minds me thinks.
when I noticed the faces I thought hedoran brothers the one I have looks like the walkers face with the raised eyebrow inverted and the other looks like a standers face
I cant stop playing with them either, I dont think theyll ever make it to the display. I think the footstamp on the one body I have is actually dremmel'd in after casting.
Loving my guy i got today. Think its the mummy body he can stand even with a lil leg lean too. Nice design!
