Sorry for further derail, but... Thanks for the link Dean! Reading this: Here’s a description of the footage shown: “A city decimated. Completely destroyed. The camera pans by the wreckage of a train and the distant voice of J. Robert Oppenheimer (father of the atomic bomb) is heard reading from the Bhagavad Gita – “Now, I am become death”. Dust everywhere. Cars crushed. Holes in sky scrapers. We then see a giant centipede like creature with many arms and legs smoldering. (You know what that means? Monster battles!) The city appears dead as a door nail. Then blackness. THE ROAR. As in THE roar. Huge Bass drop. Raymond Burr finishes his famous speech. Dust…then an arm… a hand… with claws. Pan up… holy shit… the fins. The head. Godzilla. As we know him. The real f-cking Godzilla. He roars again. Fade to GODZILLA! With Red Japanese title behind it! ... gave me the chills.
hearing him talk about mountains makes me sad looking forward to pacific rim. was there a trailer at comicon?!
on the fence with this one, will probably be a good movie I just have this sour taste in my mouth knowing kaiju will be the next zombie when everyone is done with it
Two 'lil vidlets up today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 9PFtl2tt9E http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... S6kk1bTqJs The first one made me laugh, and the second one has me hoping that the whole thing won't be done up in POV/newscast style. Anyone here besides me actually enjoy Cloverfield, by the way?
I didn't mind Cloverfield....had it's moments. I'll tell you what I am fucking sick to death of and have been for years: The shaky hand held first person POV that infiltrates every fucking movie these days!!!! Just stop already. I'm curious about this movie because it's kaiju and I want to see how they're going to exploit it.
I actually loved Cloverfield, even if it's almost the only thing I've liked by JJ (with Lost). I thought they pulled off the hand-held pretty well. I heard they were going to make a second one from the military's point of view, though it doesn't look like it will come true...
Cloverfield is awesome in spite of itself. I've watched that movie way too many times, and look forward to the next time. Given that witches and wizards and vampires have been turned into beautiful teenagers who don't actually want to hurt anyone, and given that there are industry rumors of the same soon to happen to zombies, do we have a future of offensively pretty teenagers having bizarre love triangles and city-stomping-harm-impulse conflicts playing giant monsters to abhor in the not-too-distant future? Oh hell no! Viva la rubber suit!
So I dont think I saw anyone mention these, But I'm kinda digging them. Love how drastically different they are. Also is anyone in talks of making sofubi for this movie?
I think if someone tried, Like really tried. They could get a small licence. Of course its hard to judge someone from interviews, But Mr Deltoro seems to really have a love and respect for old ways. And traditions, including those of the Kaiju Genre. I'm sure if he had any control over the distribution of the Characters and Likenesses he's allow it to happen. Plus its an injustice that he's previous monsters and ghoulies aren't already vinyl toys.
3A has a license for that Real Steel movie and put out toys two years later almost! This movie seems like it would be a way better investment! Lil blurb on io9 http://m.io9.com/5964088/guillermo-del- ... stem-video
^^^ Well, for what it's worth Del Toro is a hundred times the storyteller of Michael "Shitbiscuit" Bay, and there's some decent actors underneath all that SFX - not least of which Burn Gorman and Idris Elba. I recognized Charlie Hannam's "American" voice, too.
Kinda glad he dropped out of the Hobbit because this looks awesome! LOL at Jax Teller in a robot suit though. I'm all in, kids need more fun and cool shit like this these days. I loved Robot Jox, my eyes would have melted as a kid if this came out.
