I love your custom paint jobs I've been seeing on IG
Hello Skullbrain Community and fellow art toy enthusiast. My name is Brandon and i love/am addicted to toys. Just can't get enough. Ever. I have been collecting only since 2011 but have amassed quite the collection at this point and just want to get deeper in this world and meet some cool like minded folk and a little bird told me i may want to check out Skullbrain. Seems like good info. I truly believe in a toy a day. More lately with the shenanigans going on in the country. As to favorites thats like picking kids, i love them all. As long as its not cheap quick easy mass produced garbage i propably have some interest. Anyway, i am honored and privileged to be here and also very happy. I cant wait to meet some folks and learn some more. Thank you all - Brandon
What up Brandon! Welcome to SB.. That's effed up how you called me a little bird.. I'm most definitely a big bird, but not THE Big Bird..
Hello everyone I finally got my new account with my shincartoon id. I used to use "BAPE" but everyone hated it. so I got a new one that actually matches my instagram. Hope you guys can welcome me. Thanks!
Let me introduce myself.
The name is Jonas and I'm from Stockholm, Sweden.
I've been a vinyl collector since 2011.
As a kid I never got a single action figure or toy weapon (yeah my parents were sort of hippies) and my grandmother had a toy shop who's only focus was wooden toys. She had a carpentry connected to the shop and produced her own line of wooden toys. So plastic wasn't really something you'd find in me and my siblings room...
And look how that worked out!
My main focus in my collection is Elegab. But really anything goes that cought my eye.
Looking forward to being part of the community.
Gabriel here! Hailing from Sydney, Australia I've been into toys my whole life and sofubi I'd say about 5 years now since I first saw it in Japan. I'm sure like many people this came about naturally as a biproduct of being a tokusatsu fan! What else to say? I'm mainly into Japanese artists such as RealxHead, Dehara and Uamou but my end goal is to one day own a piece by every artist (provided I admire their work)
Thanks for having me! I look forward to speaking to everyone soon.
Welcome everyone, nice to have some new folks joining. Lots to learn, but dive right in and begin anytime. You definitely started in the right place. I always recommend checking out the few guidelines and FAQ sections, to help you get accustomed to the way the board is run. People will be quick to steer you back on course if you stray.
@shincartoon Hahha, welcome!? I admit I find it a little amusing someone who joined in 2008 is just getting in and posting here, but then if so many of us had our initial 'request' accounts activated, that would probably be the case for a few. Congrats on the name change.
My name is Ken, not like my username suggests, that was the name of someone close to me i lost.Ive been a collector and just a general admirer of soft vinyl goodness since 2006. My collection is small but im proud of what i have, mostly fight figures and elegab. Some of you might know me from insta as @duendes_ , just a guy who dabbles with sculpts and drawings. i cant wait to get involved with this community and learn alot. To be honest im just here to make friends and socialize with others that are interested in the same things i am. Thanks for accepting me. have a great day everyone.
Wow Parker. I just checked out your instagram and the 3d print quality of the two headed buy is insane! I need to see it up close but I do nto see any scan lines at all? What 3d printer was used to print it?
Thank you Ultra Kaiju. I am so glad that I am rid of that horrible ID. and now I can be myself.
Thanks @shincartoon , that sculpt was printed with a formlabs printer. Its resin based print, there are layers but printed at 50 microns so basically not visible.
Looking forward to getting involved in the chat. I'm based in Scotland and have only been collecting seriously for a few months. Started with a couple of FLOSR toys as I love big robots but have started getting into kaiju toys too. My fav toys are my G1 Optimus prime, my Skullator Mummy Boy and my mini mockbats.
Welcome @Bob! Nice to see the UK contingent growing, if only at a trickle. A couple months in and you've already found SB, you are doing very well man. Took some of us years to discover the bounty that is hidden within these pages. Enjoy.
Indeed, welcome @Bob
Thanks guys! So glad to have found this place! Lots to learn
Hey, Ed. Just got the news about The Hard Times and Consequence Media … huge congrats to ya, man!
hello people of Skullbrain..
Long time UK based lurker of this board. The depth of knowledge here is staggering and has been very helpful when researching toys that grab my eye.
I have always kept an eclectic travelling collection of toys ,it is only in the last few years that life is stable enough to actually accumulate some possessions.
My main hobby/work is making electronic music and building synthesizers,I find having a shelf of funky plastic mutants essential for inspiration.
Sofubi wise I am drawn to non gory/violent stuff but not particularly 'cute' works either...I dig Mirock,Sunguts,Elegab and Real X Head in particular but there is really so much out there..
I also enjoy Classic Mecha, some Glyos toys and Microman/nauts...
I am not sure if I can contribute much regarding contemporary Sofubi , and don't want to post too many 'oooh that looks awesome' posts (which is bloody tempting tbh),but the manga and general chat threads are right up my street so will chip in when I can..
Anyway thanks for letting me onboard....
Welcome to the board Ian. I think a lot of us can probably relate to your situation at some point in our 'collecting' lives. Feel free to post away what you have, people are always happy to look at great photos of toys around these parts, and you'll find there are equally diverse tastes among the SB community, so you fit right in.
Oh yes indeed . . .
Welcome aboard mate, nice introduction btw.
Hi everyone !! I stumbled across the delightful world of kaijus not so long ago when i found the complete collection of the Gamera DVDs in a store. I then fell into the kaiju sofubi love pit... After an intense lurking period on the forums i finally joined you guys !
I just came back from a trip to NYC and there i could finally grab my first kaijus !! Couple of micro gargamels and a Negora series i'm not allowed to disclose yet . I'm quite excited because living in France it's really hard to put my hands on these little cuties !
Thanks for having me !
Welcome MQ! I think a lot of us originally came here through inspiration from monster or tokusatsu movies/shows, so you are in good company. Whereabouts are you in France? Take a look around, you'll find there are a few other French members here already. (Come to think of it, I might just consider building a wall around this place to stop all these pesky people from sneaking in...) Enjoy the board and the community!
Hello SB, long time lurker as well finally hopping in to say hello. I am a graphic designer and I have been into vinyl for about ten years but I've really gotten into soft vinyl in the past three-four years or so. I am a big Jeff Lamm fan, as well as T9G, Max Toy and Super7 sauce of course. I like to think I have a decent but well curated collection of a wide variety of figures and one of these days I will get the drive to paint some of my blanks! Thanks for this great place to get some insight into this hobby, I don't have any shops around me so this is my go to.
Hey everybody. Another SB lurker. Finally figured I should introduce myself. I go under abelhefe on instagram. I've been collecting for a while now, a few years maybe. But in this short time I've got a pretty nice collection I like to think. I'm not a purist and I don't know all about the history of everything. I just collect what I like. I live in Crown Point, Indiana, about an hour from Chicago. Wish there was more of a scene around here. Got a wife and a kid and a dog and a cat at home. Got my own toy room also with two tv's set up and all my video game systems. Needless to say that is my haven. What else... I love music and movies. Music I'm partial to punk and hardcore but listen to most everything. Oh and I'm lucky enough my wife is cool with all this. She manages to get a lot of drops for me. Well that's about it. Hope to meet more of you here and there. Thanks.
