Farts, shits, and assholes...
Just saw this ...
“So if you read my speech, and many people have done it, and I’ve seen it both in the papers and in the media, on television, it’s been analysed, and people thought that what I said was totally appropriate,” Trump insisted at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
Its not really 'news' i suppose. As if anyone thought he'd take any responsibility anyway. Tell that to the dead cops family, you piece of shit ...
Chiming in to offer an important and informative article about why people believe in conspiracy theories and who is susceptible to such beliefs: https://slate.com/technology/2021/01/conspiracy-theories-coronavirus-fake-psychology.html
I need to make myself laugh, even though its not funny what happened...
An after thought to all of this: what if the insurrectionists had won? Is the vote legitimate if the government is won by brute force? Who would have run the government afterwards: only Republicans? Would the proud boys and boogaloo boys become the government militia? What would happen to all of the minorities in America if the government was run entirely by bigots and racists? What would they have done to all of the Democrats in government if they had won? If Trump could keep the presidency through brute force what would stop him from changing the laws so that he could be president indefinitely? If that idea is supported than how important is the constitution and democracy vs ones personal ideology? If you are concerned about your children, your property, and your stocks what do you think happens to all of those in a civil war?
These questions aren't really for us. These questions are for those who don't question Trump. These questions are for those who think the election was stolen. These questions are for those who think the insurrection was not violent and was appropriate.
As I listen to the live coverage of the impeachment hearings...
Even if the Capitol was "taken" by these traitors and they inflicted real harm on those who represent us, it would not have been a complete siege on democracy or the country. The idea of violence against American's as a means to try and overthrow the country isn't really what bothers me, as I don't believe that could ever be successful at this point in time. What does concern me is this groups psyche and their firm belief in obvious conspiracy theories.
Now, I completely understand their grievances. I don't agree with many, if not all of them. But I do understand that they believe in them and in a sense, are legitimate concerns. But I don't think things like Qanon or that Hilary is a baby eating lizard are real. But these people do and they are being fed this stuff daily. It is also their sense of entitlement and feeling as though they have been treated unfairly. All of this sort of stuff is being fed to them 24/7 and they lap it up like rabid dogs. It's the same way I feel about religion.
I think the past four years of a Trumpian America is a pretty good answer to your (and many others) questions and concerns you have stated. If Trump took the country by force or otherwise, there is no doubt he would at the very least have laws enacted that benefit him. He has already tried. But look, for him to have a successful coup would require a lot more than a few thousand rednecks with racist flags, bike helmets and silly t-shirts. It would require the military, and other authorities involvement on a massive scale. It would require the press and other media outlets. Not just Fox (who wouldn't back him) or AON or those morons that have podcasts and AM radio shows. It would take more than the handful of representatives that objected over the election results. It is true that he garnered over 70mil votes. But most of those people aren't going to go out and take up arms against their neighbors to create a fascist regime.
For those of us who stand against fascism, Trumpism and the ilk, we have to stand up to this stuff and speak out. We have to be active and apathetic. Instead of writing banter here, we need to write our representatives. For all those willing to goosestep, we have to march in unity against them. I already listed those persons who have spoken against our democracy. A lot of you/us live in those States. So, write them and demand their resignation. I have and will continue to do so.
Try requesting from your representatives to exercise Article I, Section 5, of the United States Constitution and have these people removed from office for sedition and other crimes against the Constitution. Write letters to companies that support these people and threaten to pull your dollars. Some companies have already done this. Not because I think they have a conscience, they typically don't. But they do worship profits. Create your own podcasts. Create your own YouTube channel and counter their narrative. Incite the youth to get involved.
This country and our democracy is NOT going to be undermined and destroyed through violence and acts of sedition. It is going to be lost when the rest of us don't remain active, speak out and at the very fucking least vote.
Lastly, to those of you too lazy to write your own letter to your senator or even congressperson, here you go.
Dear Senator -------,
I am writing to you today to ask that you exercise Article I, Section 5, of the United States Constitution and move forward in having the following senators expelled from office; Ted Cruz (TX), Josh Hawley (MO), Cindy Hyde-Smith (MS), Cynthia Lummis (WY), John Kennedy (LA), Roger Marshall (KS), Rick Scott (FL), and Tommy Tuberville (AL) for attempting to delay the count in order to allow Trump and his allies to storm and attack the US Capitol in an attempt to overthrow our democracy and seek a coup. This is unacceptable and those involved must be punished for their roles in this clear act of sedition against our country. This is not the America I live in and it is not the America I want my children to live in. Therefore I implore you to do what is right and start the process, along with your fellow senators in having these scurvy individual's removed from office and banned for life from ever being able to hold office again. Thank you in advance and thank you for your years of hard work representing not only our state, but the country as a whole. Stay well and stay safe.
Trump no longer has the launch codes and there is a man speaking complete sentences at a podium. The bar is low but the world is safer than it was 15 minutes ago!
And this man has more vocabulary than "tremendous", "fake news", "very, very" and "grab by the ...".
Finally, America "is" great again
It feels like I can finally let go of all the anxiety I’ve had for... well, way too long. On a beautiful, nice and sunny day, too. What a relief, our government will finally be based off of fact, not fictional denials.
I can finally go back to hating the US for it’s neoconservativism and not it’s fascism.
not so much an upgrade, but still something we can work against.
That meme of Bernie with his baller mittens only reminds me how close we were to having M4A, but the country isn’t ready to respect itself like that.
all things considered, thrilled not to see that orange goon running the place into the ground anymore.
I always thought that Trump most likely has a very bad body odor. Maybe it's good that he spent 25% of his presidency on the golf course so the white house will need a little less airing out.
It's not going to be an instant fix, that's for sure! At least we have a fresh start and new people who at least knows what they're suppose to be doing. The challenge is getting everyone to work together and get it done. Happy New Year everyone!
Don't go spending all of your stimulus monies on toys
My goal is to spend other peoples' stimulus checks on toys.
The last five years have been an absolute slog. I feel a level of buoyancy and relief today (esp. since the inauguration went off w/ no one getting shot) that I did not expect. I am nearly giddy. So much fucking work to do ahead, to be sure, but I am so happy to not have, on a daily fucking basis, so much psychic and emotional space taken up by that warped, grotesque asshole any more.
Biden's still an agent for the haves, but at least he won't be promoting hatred for the next four years.
