I'm a Mom! ...well, ok, a FOSTER Mom! I just couldn't bear the thought that he'd be euthanized http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/26391412 Turns out we only had 2 days to rescue him, when I made my inquiry (last weekend, what a flurry! ). We picked him up from Manteca last Saturday. He was really sick when I brought him home-severe sinus infection. I started him on meds 4 days ago, and he's improving very quickly. He's quarantined from Henry and Emma, because of his flu and he hasn't been tested for FIV yet. He also still has his "jewels" , so will have to be neutered at some point, when he's recovered from the flu . He's sooooooooooo friendly and soooooooooooooo skinny! Head butts you constantly, sticks to you like glue, and starts to cry very loudly when you leave the room. I wish I could keep him, but he does stress out Henry and Emma quite a lot . Well, just thought I'd share
Such a lovely addition Grace. I was worried when I saw him hiding under that shelf that maybe he was one of those poor traumatised kitties and was cowering from you. So nice of you to take him in and spend your own time and and money seeing him get better. Sorry he doesn't get on so well with H&E, I hope you can find him a nice home without great difficulty soon.
What a sweetheart you are, Grace! Simon - he looks like a Simon for some reason - is very lucky to have met you!
Two recent adoptions added to our family. Marshal Lee is on the left and his step sister Fiona is on the right. Yes, my daughters are huge Adventure Time fans. Recently found in an irrigation pipe at my father in-law's house. They were temporarily housed in this bathroom, to give them privacy from the overly curious dogs of ours that were chasing them around, as well as the adult cats that are constantly hissing at them. I've gotta say, kittens are too cute. It's nice that my daughters can be in charge of litter duties now!
!ADOPTED! Pachi (formerly named Tigger), my "little" rescue kittee, was adopted on 8/10/2013. A nice family with kiddies scooped him up! While it's sad to see Pachi leave our house (alas! Henry and Emma just would not accept him ), he'll have lots of love poured on him by the kids and parents. The kiddies were soooooooooooo excited to have their very own kittee
I have to say this is my favorite thread on SB. I dont post in here as much I should. Love hearing about all these adoptions. We have a ton of stray cats in our neighborhood and every year we have a litter of kittens in our back yard. This year there was three kittens. The mom and dad have left them and they just seem to want to stay in our backyard. (maybe because we feed them ).
I have no pics of our rescue, but he looks much like that stray. Only our roomate is an 8 yr old cat named Oliver. In my family we all have titles so his is Doctor. Doctor Oliver Dumas. Dr. Dumas to the family and Ollie to his friends. I'll post pic sometime. ;D
I am in the middle of watching The Third Man, so in a way what you're saying makes far more sense than it should.
Never go to bed on a full tummy of tuna... just going through some old photos of poor Mr. Humphreys, a long time ago...
Maybe they all just wanted to give him scritches... So nice to see Sweet Humph again. One things for sure, the man knew how to take a toy onslaught!
Love that shot of Mr Humphreys! I feel your pain Grace. We did have two new little ones earlier in the summer... But due to a very unfortunate accident only one of them has survived... Needless to say, my girls were totally devastated, as were my wife and I.
Thank you! One of my external hard drives is on the fritz, so I am slowly transferring files onto a new e-drive. I still miss Mr. Humphreys horribly, but at least I can look at some of his photos without bursting into tears. I am so very sorry to learn of your loss of Marshal Lee. He was such a sweet kitten, as I see from his photo above. They leave us so suddenly at times. My heart goes out to you, your wife, and your girls, you have my sincerest wish that the sad memories will be replaced with happy ones. Don't be afraid to get back on the bike, and adopt another kitten or two? There are so many little fuzzies out there that need good homes! And, your house sounds like it's filled with love for kittees . Oh! I love your Zags behind glass--they are so colorful! Well, one more old photo of my last cat Mr. Bean (Butas were great at keeping the house clean--they are great late night cleaning crews! ) my Ex would not return Mr. Bean to me when we parted, but the last I heard, he is doing well, so I am still happy that he has a good home and is well loved. It allowed me to adopt Henry and Emma, so there's lots of cats out there that need love! p.s. David, poor Mr. Humphreys certainly did have his paws full, keeping the toy parade at bay. They seemed to have an extra magnetic affection for him...
Love that picture of Hyabusa vacuuming! Goro looks hungry! NOM NOM! Thanks for the kind thoughts Grace. I guess the 2nd photo was a little misleading, it was actually Fiona that we lost. And she was actually the second Fiona we lost. Marshall's true sister unfortunately didn't last the first week in our home. The strays were found seriously malnourished, as their mom is only about 10 months old. Bottle feeding and soft kitten food and vitamins didn't help, as she passed in the first 48 hours of being in our home. The second Fiona was adopted from our groomer, he had a litter of cats they he was trying to find homes for. We are waiting for things to settle down after some medical bills before looking for another. We like to support the shelters locally. I was taking down some party decorations today while Marshall had fun.
^^^ Awwww, what a handsome little man! I think Goro was just cleaning the sweet Mr H's ears. They were clearly friends, like the hippo and that tortoise. Here's Qwibs' latest bombing run: Qwibbins Gubira Gubila
Jojo, that is very sad . Marshall looks like he's coming along well, and filling out nicely though. He's lucky to be adopted by you and your family! It's tough being a feral and a Mom cat raising a litter. Don't give up, cat rescues are definitely the way to go when adopting! Be sure to post any new additions to the family . David, I love your Gubiras, but your kittee looks a bit bored . Now wouldn't it be wonderful to have a Buta version of Gubira? High cuteness factor for sure!
Lost one of the good ones today...very unexpectedly. Tyson suffered a severe clot in his legs and we had to let him go. He was only 10 and has been a very close companion to me. He had one of those personalities that made you think he was human and I was constantly catching myself reasoning with him as if he understood every word I was saying It's so hard losing a loved one but even harder when it happens within about an hour's time, going from seemingly nothings wrong to having to say goodbye forever - I'd gladly give up my toys for just a little more time . It's gonna be hard but seeing all of you cat lovers out there giving our furry friends the love and companionship they deserve makes me smile Thanks for listening/reading! You will be deeply missed Tyson <3
That's rough.. sorry for your loss. Tyson sounds like a special furry guy that will be dearly missed. He looks like he was a good cuddler too. <3
I'm am very sorry for your loss, poor Tyson . An especially beautiful fuzzy, and I bet he was a very affectionate kittee. He was very fortunate to have lots of love and a good home while he was with you. I know exactly what you mean about giving up your toys to be with your fuzzy companion . I'm sure he was very thankful to have you care for him and be his companion, and it seem you were both closely bonded. My deepest sympathies.
Thank you all for your kind words, it really does help! Just knowing that there are others out there that know and feel how much out furry companions mean to us. Thank you for your support and for helping me remember the goods times to overcome the sadness
