Gah, I’m so glad my lady and me have never had to have “that” conversation. She didn’t understand collecting at first, but she’s always been stoked on how happy it makes me, and how involved I am. She’s got her own equivalent, and I’d never get in the way of that for her. Although I didn’t talk to him too much, I do miss Chris’s rants. Even reading the older posts before my time here.
Yep, he was a cool dude and i often found his posts funny or interesting, even though we didn't speak a great deal either. His taste in toys was fantastic and he was always dropping knowledge about vintage stuff, his posts and photos are still very much a big part of this board and i hope his memory lives on for many years to come. I thought naming the Sho' Yo' Buta thread after him was very nice, for example.
My wife and I had a few arguments about collecting, a year or two into our marriage. We didn't have enough money to even think about collecting, before that. It's not embarrassing to her, or anything. She just has some family members with hoarder tendencies, so she wants to make sure we never get to that point. She wants everything to be orderly and presentable, too, which is understandable. But most importantly, she wants to be included in my hobbies. A toy that we pick together is one we can both love, and proudly show off to our guests.
