So stealing other peoples' intellectual property is cool now? Or did they actually manage to contact Sir Bemon and get his approval?
Certainly not stealing Bemon's IP....this is clearly modeled off the cover of the old magazine which is what Bemon did. This is no worse than the Yabanjins that everyone raves about here. Despite the fact the "poor man's Bemon" is selling for more than the the original 2HB's on Mandarake now. With much less quality and care put into making them than Bemon products. Those ripoffs are alright somehow.... Not defending S&S, I know the history on the board. And I could care less about Yabanjins, the situation is much akin to Target Earth or any other pachi kaiju maker. But the hypocrisy makes zero sense.
I've always wondered, is it pointy-ass rings, or pointy ASS rings? The emphasis makes all the difference.
This discussion made me want to brush up on my two-headed giant history. I don't know if it exists elsewhere on here, so for people that might not know (there seems to be just a few in this discussion... knowledge is power, etc. etc.): The two-headed giant is from Jack the Giant Killer, a story that was first published in 1711. The most famous rendition of this story came in 1962, when UA made a film of the same name that utilized the stop-motion animations of Wah Chang, Gene Warren and Jim Danforth (colleague of Harryhausen's). In 1968, Famous Monsters of Filmland published a rendition of the two headed giant on its cover, drawn by Ron Cobb. That is where Bemon's rendition of the two headed beast comes from. So... tl;dr This is Bemon's grandpa: This is Bemon's millennial nephew:
I got a pretty good kick out of people calling Sx Toy's Yabanjin a "bootleg Bemon" when Bemon's toy is derived(not bootlegged) from the Famous Monsters cover. Personally, I like the Yabanjin proportions and overall sculpt more, but I really do enjoy that Bemon's sculpt looks like it was used in stop motion animation. If neither were so damned expensive(Yabanjin now retailing for a ridiculous $600), I'd love to have one of both, but that ain't happenin'. Those pins look okay, though. Kinda remind me of something you'd get in a box of cereal.

Pins look OK . . . it's the banned Mishka clone, toy god wannabe, hipster cliche that should be limited.
