oh, i SO want another set of minis now! CURSE YOU, MINI MEN!! (wait... reality check: i'll never even get a chance to buy these. i may still be safe...)
thanks alot for the translations! the dead skull ape was really only visible in illustration form before. his face was blocked or far away in all the photos I saw online.
take it easy, i think it shouldn't be super tough to score these. quite true...if only these were made in regular buta size and painted like those in the illustrations.
Any one have posted BUTA micro checklist? Seems its pretty hard to track them now. i also saw a painted micro release b4?
I'm working on one, Ricky. I don't want to post until I'm caught up though and sure of all the facts. I can send you what I've got so far if you like. Thanks, Bill, for the nearly immediate translation gratification! And to Oli for the fine tuning! I love Business Suit's 3/4 turn cool pose.
the painted ones were done by one of the gargamel dudes for some friend or were commissioned..? they were the 1,2,3,4 rock paper scissor sets. as far as I know, there has only been one micro painted by buta... the namegon chase from some fest (cant remember which one at the moment) not too long ago.
The new release is rock paper scissor sets 8-9, G Series 2, Red Set and Yellow Set. I already have set 1-7, a Ultra Q set. Also a set with the lobster(character from his book). but not sure are this set call G Series 1? or G Series 1 are those selling from the recent show. Also the upcoming Red Set and Yellow Set are new toy not been released b4 or just new color from old rock paper scissor sets? I dont have those micro at home cant compare. Yes, David. please send me what u already know.
The chase was from SF60, just a few months ago. Here's all the Q gatchas from that day: The chase sculpt is actually a new casting of an older sculpt that that was given as an omake back in '07:
Thanks for the pic of the 2 Namegons, Ricky. David and I had been debating whether or not there were 2 different sculpts. Your pic solves that question.
oh shit! didnt know the painted chase was the same as the gift one. no wonder there were only 2(?) in the machine.
Might as well post some previews of the new sets, since I assume most people have seen them anyways, and it can't really get any harder to score them. Okay, I am going to gripe here a moment [at my own peril, I know]. I am so tired of the Buta scene. I mean, I love these toys, love them, but regular Pierre's like me just can't play anymore, it has become such an inaccessible part of the hobby. With the local sources drying up, we are gouged by middlemen or the aftermarket. And the prices there are skyrocketing exponentially each month. Now, I am not going to point any direct fingers, but certain services now providing access to the Buta releases are getting pretty ridiculous. And this applies to more than one. So I am wondering if he knows how much fans are forced to pay to play with his delightful creations. Don't get me wrong, I am not at all blaming him, but it must be evident, especially considering that these 'intermediary' sellers obviously arrange for all their pre-orders to be filled before, leaving us very little actually available at retail cost. So what are we to do? Do we stop when the prices reach Nag proportions? The inflation is already there. I don't know, I love Buta stuff, as most folks here know, but I have just been very discouraged over the past year as availability has dwindled and prices blown up.
I'm not sure if you mean yahoo or grumble and grass hut... but i have slightly ok not as bad news. For the first time in way long the exchange rate is heading back towards even instead of further into the muck. Which also means that for the first time in a while the prices at Gh won't be going up... but maybe back down just a hair. Not to 2009 prices at all, but better than the last couple batches we have gotten in. And he knows folks are clamouring for his goodies. But to my knowledge does not wholesale to anybody. He allows some people to buy multiples, but does not discount the price. Basically a you want it you buy it deal. When i order for GH there is no knowing how many or when I will get goodies. Always a fun suprize when it actually happens. here's another pic of skull and dino from G series. Today is like winning the lottery! SARS and gh bored members get dibs. SARS email around 11 tomorrow along with public Frederick release. Micros will come later by eat balls, on Flickr
Just be patient Stephen. There's only been few toys that haven't crashed back to normal prices after a few years. And if they don't, there's always more lines that should be equally interesting. You just end up with totally un-hip collections like mine.
Those middlemen you speak of are a plague on the hobby. No better than drug dealers IMO. I know which ones they are....Not Grasshut & Grumble either. If Butanohana can't be bothered to create a fair outlet for fans to purchase his work then fuck it, he's not getting my business. Sure the demand is high, but the whole "I wash my hands once I make the toys" attitude knowing full well the fans are being gouged by middlemen with access to them (who either have the inside track or have found a way to flood that site with purchases the moment they go up for sale), or worse having to resort immediately to the aftermarket is BS. Not worth my time or effort. I'll just appreciate what I own already and be done with it. New toys are a fucking joke with these prices, I'd rather spend my money on vintage.
Bought one of the mini packs at GH today (the yellow set with Dodongo), love them, want all the rest. There goes any hope of short-term financial responsibility. Just how vilified am I going to be if I paint these guys?
^Go right ahead, dude. If I have any hint of painting skills I'd try it myself. And the bright yellow vinyl just reflect too much light that I can't really see the facial features.
came across this pic while searching some old threads. anyone know if these test shots were ever sold or gifted?? I would do terrible things for that oku
