What Bill said! I get a huge kick out of how he blended the at-attention eartennae of the SAN and Bullmarks with the rotating sculpt of the Popys. Once again Our Man Buta is not just making a toy of a rubber suit, he's also making a toy of a toy! Love that. And Mitch - you know I think of you as a long lost brother, but you've gotta wash the X-plus out of your ears!
I am definitely loving the classic paint scheme on Gyango, and agree that the eartennae came out pretty excellent in the end. I also am in love with the idea in my head of Antlar sporting some blue denim in the back, like he was surprised by accidentally walking on the photo shoot and was 'caught' in his everyday clothes.
Ah, for me its the signature wrench hands of Gyango. Nicely done. The Beetlar's body certainly looks more human-like. Maybe he's doing it like Chibull boy? I love the current wave of Kaiju from the OG Ultraman series.
Nope... I'm sorry. Bunny Gyango. Don't dig it. Daveed, I'm less of a stickler for realism than I am for the essential notes of a classic design to be hit, for certain parts of the silhouette or profile to be retained, even in a very soft or interpretive sculpt. Not all the time, by any means, and I have definitely mellowed on this over the years and found charm in things I never thought I would. I'm just a hard case when it comes to Gyango... sorry!
Oh I know what you mean, pal.. ...but this guy just has too much charm to spare for me to kick him out bed for being alert!
I didn't like Gomess. Something about the face... kinda has me wondering 'are you really gomess?'. Gyango on the other hand, spot on.
No, not Antlar! I told myself no more Butanohana... but I love Antlar. Gomess looks pretty snazzy too. Erg.
I don't know, I find Gomess pretty spot on actually. I also think he bears a strong resemblance to the Marmit take on him: It's all personal taste though. Maybe it is just that the body isn't quite chunky enough for you, since he seems to be based off of the Goji mold. Anyways, I really like him, am thrilled to have a new Q guy, and think the paint schemes on these are some of the best we have seen yet - much more complex.
Ha! Too cool, I just sent this teaser pic from '11 to a friend a couple of days ago: Pretty great that now he's done toys of all 3 iterations of that suit! Now we just need the Namegon tease from '10 to finally appear!
Yes I'm done research paper one (only reason I'm posting). Ok I really need that Gomess. Colors are superb. They almost remind me of that Lottery M1 Angilas I sadly sold to David.
Well, at least he has slowed down with all the buta hoarding and we can all try to get a few ourselves.
^^^ Hey, if spending hours a week trying to catch up in an inflated market by hunting down affordable examples of toys that you oldschoolers should have just been buying for 35-40 bucks a pop as they were being released is hoarding... then color me guilty as charged! And Chris, I'm offering that green beauty a wonderful and loving home! Just changed out his water dish a couple of hours ago.
