Ok, just trying to catch up on all the stuff I've missed, but can't stop laughing Mr. Purple Ink! You know, I think the way things are going, perhaps we can use our toys for a down payment on a house ...ok, well maybe not a house in the Bay Area
The new Gomess and Gyango are some of the best toys in a while, they have so much ugly and cute I made a new word, cugly, its pronounced que-glee.
2006, I was busy buying M1GO and I should bought all these. 画像 019 by Omocha to Neko, on Flickr 画像 016 by Omocha to Neko, on Flickr
Thanks for sharing these pics, Dennis... even though it kind of hurts to look at them! Two things I didn't know before - Oodaku, who fetches silly sums these days, was originally priced for nickles; and it appears that there is an entirely different earlier sculpt of Ultraman out there! Thanks, too, for a clear shot of these two fellas! Any more closeup shots on the old hdd?
^^^ Nah, that's a '66 Goji, from Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. Same sculpt as the light blue fella at the bottom left.
A lot us were busy collecting other lines when Butanohana was cheap and readily available. I've said it a bunch of times here before, you could easily pass on picking some of these up and they'd still be available for 40-50 bucks months later on various websites. For this reason alone is why I pretty much refuse to pay hyped prices and 75 is my basic threshold. Having said that, there are a few that I covet. Seeing plenty of the original Red King in those pics hurts- ALOT! Thanks for the pics D.
Thanks Dennis. I just shit out my heart. OG Bullmark color Alien Zarab with 3675yen in your face! POW! I still remember vividly Blue Mefilas sitting in the bin at GT for months. Those were the days.
All those Zarabs just sitting there piled on one another is killing me. (and then there are even more standing besides too!) So I am definitely fascinated by that 'smaller' Ultraman sculpt as well. I actually really prefer this guy, as he gives it more of a kaiju-battling scale it seems. I wonder if this ever made it beoynd a prototype. I am also fascinated by the Magila next to him - maybe it is just the photo, but he looks like a different colour scheme to the other releases; but maybe I haven't seen the 'blue' version in a better pic that shows off how light the paint colour is. Oops, the other pic seems more in line with what I am used to, nevermind. Thanks for sharing (and saving) these pics Dennis. As hard as it is to take, I still love to pour over them.
Could the Ultraman be someone else's sculpt and just placed there to go along with the bromide up above? It's articulated at the waste like a classic mini.
Could be, but he definitely seems to have a 'personality' that would fit with Oohashi's sculpts. I don't recognise him in any case, and it would be a bit odd to display another maker's figure on the table I think.
^ u.s.toys does it all the time, i think? mixing it up with other toys/props/playsets, i mean. that ultraman doesn't fit in with buta's style, does it? the proportions and stance seem quite different.
