i like all you teachers. i buy the toys i like and i rarely resell. what else can i say ? i still don't get this huge learning curve. i initially thought it had to do with getting the toys you want and since i plan on buying direct as much as possible and don't intend to catch em all i thought i could avoid the ass kissing but i guess i'm still missing something ? alot of posts are being misunderstood and if you read one post out of many posted that could explain it, but looking at someone as a newb or vintage or seeing what someone else you know wrote and jumping on the bandwagon? anyways my comments were about the overall reaction board members were having to this topic and the vibe.
You seem generally to be positive and intelligent, so give yourself time to learn more about the board by reading more posts. Almost all of us went through that, and still we made mistakes. That's all part of learning. You may come to be valued here, if you stick around. I think some of us are no longer amused by how many posts you have made in a thread that involves friends and facts that you know little about. Pogue, for many of us, represented the master collector, seeking the best toys from both Western and Eastern perspectives. There are perhaps 10 others like him on this board now. His was witty, kind, sarcastic, funny and super smart, and alot of us miss him. He left the board about a year and quarter ago with little notice, abandoning the scene that he had been a large and well know part of for several years. He has his share of friends and admirers, as well as his hand-full of enemies. We who know him regret these problems, but most feel he is good for his deals and will come through, eventually. Pull back, watch and learn. Test the waters, but don't be too annoying, and you may come to be regarded as a new friend in our toy fellowship here. Or, you could continue to make as ass out yourself as I have several times. Other than that bit of advice, welcome to the board.
SB is about much more than just "getting the toys you want". It use to be that learning about the toys and their history was as big a part as collecting the toys. The learning/sharing of knowledge aspect of the board seems to have taken a back seat to the buying of toys as S7/SB has moved away from "kaiju" and more towards designer toys, but there are still a lot of people who care just as much (or more) about learning about the toys, as they do collecting them. No ass kissing is required - just don't go sticking your nose where it doesn't belong.
Well put NT. Getting toys you're after is fun, but actually learning the history behind them (especially vintage) is priceless. Especially since often you can find information on the internet but it's in japanese. This board has a wealth of information in the threads.
Yup, NT got it right. When I first discovered SB I was really impressed by the depth and knowledge of the members. Yeah, toys exchange hands, but there's more goodwill and sincerity rather than plain flipping. I've learnt a lot here. But my pocket hates you guys Anyways, where the hell's Pogue?!
c'est dure dure dêtre sur sb i really wanted to convey the affect that bitching about newbs even indirectly has on new members. such wide imprecise terms have more often nothing to do with the situation and only serve to alienate. i'm done. i'd like to stick around so i'll be light-stepper from now on. Ruh-roh!
Muahahahahah! There's an English language version too, and the first line is, "My name is Jordy, I am five, and I'm small."
back on track. who has got their shit mailed or money refunded? who's still playing the waiting game?
I am waiting as well, although if Pogue put things in the mail when he sent Kontact his refund we probably wouldn't have seen then yet. Fingers crossed.
How f-ing hard is it though Dustin... I mean really?! It's not like he saves lives for his day job. He's had plenty of time to get his shit together and mail stuff out or offer refunds. Dude has been lame as far back as I can remember and continues to be so. There's no excuse. Pogue = Epic Fail Douchebag
