Wow, more sad news to unfortunately share. Another fixture of the screen in an age of cinema that I fear we will never see the like of again. His 'Hudson' was such a major part of what made an already great movie, Aliens, fantastic. Even his small part in Terminator will forever be ingrained in my consciousness. His dramatic range is surprisingly little known to a lot of people (Tombstone was fantastic). I don't need to repeat his many wonderful films, you either know them or you don't (and can look them up). Another of those actors who seem to fully embrace the belief that there are 'no small roles.' I know I even enjoyed him on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It may come as a surprise to some to learn he actually has his start in film behind the camera working in the art department for Roger Corman pictures; which is a pretty great way to come into the business. Sad to learn of his passing today. This definitely calls for some viewings of some some really enjoyable movies in his honour. RIP. Bill Paxton 1955-2017
He was such a great actor. I grew up in the 80's and was young when Weird Science came out. That was my first exposure. Just learned he directed the Fish Heads music video. I remember being a little boy and catching that on mtv when it first aired. I always hoped he was one of the good guys and not all ego and it appears from some of the con interactions with fans, he was. Hopefully, he went peacefully under the fog of the anesthesia.
Sad to hear of his passing as well. I was at the grocery store earlier when I received a news notification on my phone that Judge Wapner just passed on too. Goodbye you two! Game Over Hudson: Obligatory Rain Man clip:
Legitimately thought it was some sort of meme or joke that I kept seeing on IG. Can't believe it. The guy was WAY too young to pass like that.
FUCK!! He was only recently on the WTF Podcast in February. Him and Marc were joking about how famous his 'game over man, game over' line from Aliens had become. http://www.wtfpod.com/podcast/episode-783-bill-paxton-dylan-brody I loved him in 'Hatfields and McCoys' more recently but he will always be this crazy dude from the classic 'Near Dark' to me. If you haven't seen Near Dark - give it a go.
Crazy news. Such a presence in movies for so long, solid actor and a sweet guy (listen to the Maron interview if you haven't yet). And this reminds me, I still have never seen Frailty! Will try to watch this weekend...
Same. Criminally underrated movie, always recommending it to people. @ungawa222 Frailty is a solid film. Saw in the theater and rewatched about year or so ago... it still holds up. Let me know what you think.
